Definitely right there buddy, drives me nuts when so called pro road testers say the suspension is stiff. It’s Ohlins for Christ sake , it’s top end stuff and designed to be adjusted to suite. I also wish pro riders stop telling us about its failings on a track as most people buy a road bike to ride on the road. Who cares if the brakes fade a little after braking from 150mph after 5 flat out track laps. It’s not a Moto GP bike it’s a road bike. Also who cares about doing wheelies, if you get caught on the road doing them you are in for a ban. It’s an awesome bike I’m sure I’d love one.

Out of that list the MT-10 got the nod from me, I had one and really regret trading it for a KTM 1290, KTM electronics are finicky at best, the S1000R was too clinical (Fast, accurate, smooth but left me cold) although the new version is supposed to be way more fun, Speed Triple and Tuono just crippled me.

I agree, some of the bigger magazine type testers complained that it was stiff suspension. It’s fully adjustable and top draw stuff as road bikes go. Surely a pro magazine rider can tweak the suspension to suit, makes you wonder for sure. Most riders don’t need to keep dicking about with the suspension once it’s set up anyway. It’s great to see Lamb Chops do a review because he is so enthusiastic.

You would think with the amount of keyless cars being stolen. Bikes wouldn't go the same way. The stupidest keyless are the semi keyless. Ignition is keyless but you need to get the fob/key out for petrol and removing the seat. I really don't understand the enthusiasm for keyless vehicles. Is it because we are getting lazy and the effort of getting keys out is just to much for some or am I just old? Nice review 👍

Something tells me it's an economic decision. It's probably becoming cheaper to manufacturer keyless than have a quality lock tumbler. Also you'll probably need to get new keys programmed at some point in the future which is more revenue for the dealer

They see the potential in the Triples. Keep up the good work. Love your video vlogs. Very exciting to watch and hear. We KZbinrs like to hear the bike in all it’s glory. And your riding comments just makes it complete.
@exothermal.sprocket3 жыл бұрын
To be fair, a triple isn't anything new with Japan. While triples really have some unique character, torque production, etc. they aren't as sublimely smooth as an inline-4. Triples have the imbalance issues called "rocking-couple" and it's felt in most of them. It's a course feeling tingle that comes through all contact points. Some fours have a terrible vibration issue too, but there are a few standouts that are absolutely butter. Fours can be very torquey but they have to be built and tuned for that purpose.
@greyanaroth3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the verdict (and settings info) on the suspension end of things. The electronics UI/UX is the exact same as the street triple, which to me is a bit lazy. You're right, they did miss a bit of a trick with wheelie control being mated to TC. But triumph do make great complete bikes. I ride a 2019 765rs and I love that bike more everyday. You truly appreciate a triumph the more you own it.

Not aimed at you at all Chops as I know you're not complaining, but I've never understood why testers & reviewers moan about fully adjustable suspension.....& then make no attempt to change it. It's just frustrating & lazy imo.

If the gas tank won't open, it's in the manual ... there is a wrench behind the cover over the overflow tank, and you pop out the 6 bolts in an emergency, if the tank really won't open. For the track, you can use the standard non-smart key, it's much smaller. You have to hold the key to the sensor located on the right side sort of between the rear seat and pillion seat at the plastic to start the bike. Technically you could leave the key at the paddock after starting the bike ...
@S1000xrhp3 жыл бұрын
Good information but does all this represent an improvement over the use of a key? No, it's just technological overreach, an unnecessary over-complication of style over function. Make it a no cost option and see how few would choose it. Make it a £500 cost option and I guess the number would be zero. And yet triumph want £200 for a screen fairing option that simply finishes off the bike and should be standard. Yet triumph say they've listened closely to their customer feedback?
@xorbe23 жыл бұрын
@@S1000xrhp In the UK bike theft at stops are a thing. The thieves grab the key from the ignition and run off. The rider stands the bike and chases the guy with the key. The other thieves push the bike away. Now they have the key and the bike. With smart-key keyless, the bike is useless once turned off. This is what they are fighting. Thieves are opportunistic and also allergic to risk as we all are, and having to physically fight someone for a key in a pocket will lower thefts at stops.

I took mine straight to KAIS Suspension near Manchester and they set mine up... Compression was maxed out on the rear fresh out the box from Triumph and the front was wound right off...! Compared to my old 1050R (2017) which hadnt been set up its night and day.... So much more confidence and my tyres reflected that... great video as always LCR...

@@thejudge3040 How come you say they are the same?
@thejudge30403 жыл бұрын
@@rudolphcarr you can't access track mode or rider mode on the fly, you have to be stationary also the traction and wheelie control are built-in as one. Also if you select either track or rider mode and turn the bike off it reverts you back to normal road mode
@rudolphcarr3 жыл бұрын
@@thejudge3040 ahh, I see what you meant. The electronics are not exactly the same though. The 1200 is the next generation compared to the street which was already dated 2-3 years ago. But it’s a middleweight so who cares.

Clearly Hinckley have taken their Naked game up a level with the 1160 but their are some quirks like why they bolted the seat cowl to the tail and what's with the placement of the oil filter behind the gear shift linkage?? I couldn't tell what mode I was in on the fly on my test ride either. Will wait for some proper color options in 22 and a sort for the neutral finder , cheers LCR

I found the quickshifter cut the power for a fraction too long and wasn't as quick or smooth as the one on my Street RS. I also went into neutral lots going from 2nd to 1st coming up to junctions etc. The gearbox would probably get better with use and you getting used to it tho I guess. The dash is sooo slow to start up and do anything! Surely it wouldn't have cost much more to get a slightly quicker CPU in there to make things more snappy!? Other than that, it's an incredible bike!

Traded my Street triple for an MT10 as at 6ft wanted a bigger bike and more bhp, so maybe a future bike contender when 2nd hand values come down in a year or too. Cheers LCR

I'm a little fed up with manufacturers in the recent decade with the trend of downsizing fuel capacity. 4.1 gallons on this 1160cc monster? Comon.

Hey Chopsy love the channel. Well after watching countless hours on about 4 different bikes on my short list I finally decided on the Speed triple in orange color. It’s beautiful! I’m coming off an 890 duke r which was actually perfect so I was hesitant but wanted something bigger, a little heavier, and still comfortable. One of the things people kept saying was how comfortable the Speed is. To my surprise as soon as I put my feet up on the pegs I knew that was not going to be comfy for the long run. The pegs on the Speed are way up high. I’m 6’2 225lbs and I know you’re a big guy. Did you think the pegs were in a good position. I’ve ordered some lowering pegs but wanted your opinion on the peg location. Thanks.

Agreed, tune the clickers if your gonna review a bike....thats what their there for....once adjusted then make a judgement on suspension..... It's so simple to do, takes literally a few minutes.... Triumph does a great job on the details, looks very finished and refined....3 cyl motor sounds awesome and useable.....I have multiple triumph and aprilia dealers close by so I think maybe the triumph is bit more sensible for LA traffic and slower speeds....guessing it doesn't get that hot like Aprilia does....I would rather have clickers than semi active suspension tbh....

Almost two years now since I saw you at Snetterton, don't think we can spectate still which is a shame. Don't think I've been myself since then either because of the pandemic, it's nice to watch for a bit even though I can't go on track myself. Anyway this bike does look like a beast, they done well to keep that weight low on a bike with such a big engine.

I would have loved this bike, but the issue with the gearbox to find the neutral, the impossibility to set apart traction control from wheelie control, the lack of semi active suspensions (electronic), the fact that people complain also about the engine getting quite hot sometimes, the small capacity fuel tank and last but not least : the inferior reliability when compared to a japanese bike, made me wanna go toward an MT 10 SP which i think is overall a better bike.
