I own a 2018 R1M, 2018 onwards they revised the fuel map and got rid of the snatchyness also they have a quick shifter with blipper, the anti wheelie has been revised and is phenomenal. And the electronics suspension is different, absolutely amazing machine.

All your points are spot on. The fuelling is bad from the factory, its one of it's major weak points. The front brakes fade badly on track and it's almost impossible to trace where the weakness is coming from. Also, the ergos are not so suitable for taller riders and the riding position is heavily track biased, but if you're willing to put in the money to fix the faults, the feel from the engine and chassis is second to none in the litrebike class

Great video bud, regards to the R1 vs the Gsxr, I've ridden both and had a play with a friend that had one on a long term test, the gsxr is a better road bike I think, on track the it's a different story, the R1 comes alive. With a reflash you gain that top end that perhaps the standard bike is missing as standard and the bike is a monster. Snatchy throttle is fixed too with the reflash. Brakes are fixed with some decent pads, I use Z04s from brembo. Both bikes are class, the R1 I feel is just more involving, more soul.

Nice review, being also 6’2” I like to hear the handlebar, footrest ergonomics and overall cockpit feel and you explain it very well. Testing new bikes all the time is informative and great for the perspective new bike buyers but road testing some yesteryear classics much older than 2016 would make for some interesting vids, plenty of fun to be had for much less money than a brand spanker. You can individually change each settings within each mode. And as you said this is a second hand bike the previous owner probably changed all the settings and have it in PWR1 for each mode. PWR3 is good on the street pretty laid back. PWR 2 for some fun. PWR1 for front wheel in the air crazy action. The de cat without a tune takes that snap out of the throttle so i would say it has had a tune. You should here it de catted with the Akra M1 Can it’s insanely loud that’s the setup i have on mine it even shoots flames 🔥

The later R1s had throttle snatchiness rectified, at least when I rode 2019 (or 2020, maybe) I did not notice snatchiness. The 2015 model I rode surely was very snatchy. As far as GSXR1000R is concerned, I have the 2017 model, and it is snatchy in A-mode, but I do not like B-mode as I prefer immediate throttle response. GSXR is bigger and more comfortable, R1 sounds heavenly and you can feel the vibration through the pegs as well, very exciting bike. The best liter sportsbike for the road - the S1000RR M-Pack with carbon wheels. Light (my first impression was it was as light as my 675 Daytona!), no snatch, amazing instrumental panel (lean angles, woohoo!), comfortable, but looks and sounds very average. I keep my Gixxer. The best bike out there, for me, is 1290R Beast 3.0. :-)

I’ve just got my 2015 R1 and was dreading the fuelling, but totally stock with cats I have to say it’s really not bad at all, so much so I really don’t think I’ll risk changing the pipe as I’ll struggle with track noise anyway if I do. That’s one problem with trying used bikes, if you get one that’s been messed around by someone it will colour your opinion of the bike, perhaps slightly unfairly

b mode isnt bad at all. I ride around all day in b. I only use A cause i like the sound haha. On track i even use b. Also, a flash and pipe make it fucking insane. My only complaint with the bike is the braking system. Its dangerous. you gotta tear out the whole system and install new lines that dont go through the abs. saves like 4 pounds, that system is heavy. nothing wrong with the calipers, its just the stupid abs system, wont let the rear end off the ground and takes alot longer to stop. Shit almost killed me cause i was expecting to be able to float the rear, went into a turn wayyyy too hot

I remember test riding one when they came out and I hated the throttle. It felt totally disconnected from the throttle bodies. The standard suspension is unusable on the road unless you want to fuse your spine. I note you thought the brakes were okay but I thought they were weak and lacked feel.
