The greatest thing about Lana is that she doesn’t need elaborate music videos with ‘professional’ lightning, inventive dance moves or cutting edge fashion to make her music more appealing. Just her featuring with a sunset in the background, singing to the song is more than what we can ask for. Her music alone fills all those gaps. The rest is on the periphery.

I think this was posted on the 10 years of Video games -- she is "swinging in the backyard" and she told us to listen to this song like we did VG. I feel that this video represents Lana after she left the "land of the palms" and now has found her peace. The video is so beautiful and radiating with acceptance of oneself and finally letting go of all the things that troubled her in recent times and letting in all the little things that make person feel alive like carelessly swinging in the backyard on a sunny day. I think this shift is gonna be reflected upon her future releases. It's been an honor to watch this artist grow over time from a mental space like Gods&Monsters to where she is kinda obssesed with Hollywood to: I'm "leavin' them as I was, five foot eight"-- showing her that maybe that that wasnt what she "truly wanted - innocence lost" to her leaving as she was unchanged and authentic.

i can see why people would want her to win a grammy but i just don’t see why it’s that big of a deal in the first place. she’s made such a difference in the lives of many and i would say that is reward enough for her. in fact it’s probably the reason she began her career in the first place, not to get momentary validation from a little statue. there’s so much more put into her songs than that and i’m sure she sees her purpose, which is to touch the hearts of beautiful human beings, as already being fulfilled. of course the grammy would be nice to win and a huge achievement but i really doubt that she attaches that much to it 💖

I don’t know why this ever got hated on. I’m a black girl; a black SINGER no doubt and this is beautiful. This isn’t about black women, it’s about feminism only being for those women that are hyper independent and masc but when a feminine woman wants to be in feminist circles, people immediately assume she’s submissive to men and on “their side” just because she doesn’t cut her hair short or refuse traditional femininity. There’s nothing WRONG if you do those things but there’s also nothing wrong with being feminine either. That’s the point.

I'm so proud of this woman. She has come so far, overcome so many things stuck with what she loves doing most, lived through the harsh criticisms and most of all she never gave up. My love respect support for her will be everlasting and I hope whatever she does now and in the future, it makes her happy. I've been following her since her lizzy grant days. Just as beautiful, just as talented just as majestic. Lana, you are truly a blessing to us all. love you

This is what I’ve been trying to tell people! I got lots of my friends into her when we were younger-12, 13 etc. They love her old stuff (BTD) but think her new stuff is boring. Their opinion I guess, but I think Lana is just finally done playing a character. I think she has reached a point in her where she can write whatever she wants and us committed fans will love it because we’re her for her voice. Not the persona/character she plays. Do I make sense?? Haha
@emilykaylin32093 жыл бұрын
@@unicornlana yes exactly. obviously a character can be fun but it's like a lot of people get annoyed that she's just being herself now. she's so much happier and i love it so much. and i also love the lizzy grant era but it makes me sad when people say she's "boring now" for it.
@unicornlana3 жыл бұрын
@@emilykaylin3209 In all honesty I started liking her during the tumblr girl era, 2011-12? I think. I was 13. So was totally in love with the character at first. But her voice and music are actually good! So I stuck around, and tons of people have too which is good. The ones who liked her for the aesthetic seem to have vanished. I saw a news article about Lana’s supposed weight gain, like any of us give a shit about what she looks like or how much she weighs. It just made me smirk and scroll on, hahaha

Lyrics: My body is a map of L.A. I stand straight like an angel, with a halo Hangin' out the Hilton Hotel window Screamin', "Heyo, baby, let's go" My chest, the Sierra Madre My hips, every high and byway That you trace with your fingertips like a Toyota Run your hands over me like a Land Rover In Arcadia, Arcadia All roads that lead to you as integral to me as arteries That pump the blood that flows straight to the heart of me America, America I can't sleep at home tonight, send me a Hilton Hotel Or a cross on the hill, I'm a lost little girl Findin' my way to ya Arcadia My body is a map of L.A. And my heart is like paper, I hate ya I'm not from the land of the palms, so I know I can't stay here I'm not native, but My curves, San Gabriel all day And my lips like the fire licks the bay If you think that you know yourself, you can come over Lay your hands on me like you're a Land Rover In Arcadia, Arcadia All roads that lead to you as integral to me as arteries That get the blood flowing straight to the heart of me America, I need a miracle I can't sleep at home tonight, send me a Hilton Hotel Or a cross on the hill, I'm a lost little girl Findin' my way to ya Arcadia They built me up three hundred feet tall just to tear me down So I'm leavin' with nothing but laughter, and this town Arcadia Findin' my way to ya I'm leavin' them as I was, five foot eight Western bound, plus the hate that they gave By the way, thanks for that, on the way, I'll pray for ya But you'll need a miracle America

🌴 SONG MEANING 🌴 “arcadia” is a term synonymous with “utopia” and she's drawing imagery with the city of LA bc that's what she's accustomed to and bc she considers it her home, her "utopia" if you will. But is it reciprocated and does this "utopia" take her in with unconditional love like she has (literally projecting it onto her body and fully overtaking her)? Likely not she is essentially expressing her wish for belonging and lack thereof. Lana feels like she doesn’t belong anywhere after all and has felt that way ever since she can remember. Her home, her "utopia" is up in the air again And it's not necessarily about the actual city of Arcadia which lies far east of LA, but the imagery of Arcadia at the end (as opposed to the previous imagery projected of solely LA) along with the mariachi music reminiscent of Mexican heavy East LA makes it seem as she's pulling away from the upper class West LA lifestyle (that is portrayed so rampantly in the mass media as 'The LA') and into yet another search for another "utopia" far away from the one she thought she already found (Edit: this last paragraph is referring to the Original video, but decided to leave it in for purposes of song meaning) 🙌🏼

Arcadia is not quite synonymous with "utopia". The latter means an ideal but impossible place, the former: an ideal land, lost forever, remembered with nostalgia, something beautiful that was actually in your life long ago, as impossible as it seems now. Et in arcadia ego...
