Diesel fuel pipes have been made of Nylon tubing for quite a while, The tubing is flexible and versatile. We'll show you how to refit a union to the piping, what tool is best to use when cutting and an insight into compression fittings.

Great video as always! I've just re-plumbed my 1997 disco tdi and it's probably worth pointing out 10x1 was a bit too big. 8mm nylon (6mm ID) seemed to match what was already there and seemed original. The smaller size will also push fit (when softened a little) over the metal sender pipes on top of the fuel tank if they have sheared off leaving a stump - which they almost certainly will! Your HG replacement video was also invaluable! Thanks!

Excellent tutorial ... Now I know where to come and check the pipe codes next time I need fuel line... :D Think I'll be buying me a set of those cutters... sure beats using a cheap brake pipe cutter!

what are these compression fit bits..am looking at changing my disco fuel lines as i think i might have a problem and this seams to be the easiest way just cut and join at each end.

TDI300 fuel lines from - Defender 110 , replaced my bulk head foot wells recently and where the two plastic lines come up off the top of th chassis near the bulk head to the engine - i cannot see any mounts (plastic only a dual pipe clip)- any pictures guides on the arrangement - i am guessing these was some sort of bracket?

Trying to replace some of this fittings on my 300tdi that are a bit corroded. Can't figure out the threading on the male end of the fitting that on the other end of the 8mm (5/16") barb. It is close to 1/2" - 20 TPI but I can't figure it out. What is the threading and size of the male end that attaches to the lift pump an tank pickup.

Charles Wolfe have just been researching this myself as looking to replace the pipes on mine. Have just read a post on one of the forums and it seems the fitting is indeed 1/2” 20tpi unf. Edit: the nut of which they are 2 of on the lift pump which the male part of the barbed fitting screws into is described as m12 part number nrc9770 so im left confused about this also.....
