Excellent, brief and informative video. Appreciate that there is no hype. As a medical educator, I wish this could be viewed by all GPs, FPs, and even internists of a certain age (like mine) who believe that "stones, bones, and abdominal groans" are the only indications of significant and potentially deadly disease that is so easily curable. Speaking from personal experience, as I myself was misdiagnosed for years. Thank you!

I feel ya on misdiagnosis. On pacemakers, the VA misdiagnosed me for 5 years; I even got kicked out of Gold's gym for passing out during powerlifting. Turned out I have Superior Vena Cava Syndrome, a blood clot around the pacer wires cutting off return blood to the heart and now live with just a 6mm balloon they got thru it. It's like being out of breath for any activity, but I'm actually out of blood!

Diagnosed at 29 with severe osteoporosis after a minor fall crushed one of my vertebrae. After a ton of blood work and 24 hour urine collections the endocrinologist couldn’t find the cause. I was also passing kidney stones. This was 9 years ago and my bone health is regressing back to osteoporosis and I just had 4 stones removed from both kidneys. The surgeon mentioned I should have my thyroid checked again and to be honest I’m hoping for this diagnosis so I can finally find relief with treatment. I do have issues with anxiety and depression, fatigue and memory loss which I’ve attributed to 12 years of nocturnal shifts.

Notes: Regulation of Ca If Ca levels aren't exactly right * Bone Loss * Intestinal symptoms * Kidney Diease * Mental Disturbances Releases PTH when Ca levels are low PTH * Remodels bone to absorb Ca into the blood * Instructs kidneys to absorb Ca back from urine * Changes Vit D to active form which helps intestines absorb Ca from food Weakening of bones --> osteoporosis Kidney --> Stones Nervous system --> fatigue, memory loss, poor concentration, anxiety and depression Stiffening of blood vessels and high BP Nerves --> sluggish conduction irregularities in the heart --> rhythm abnormalities and palpitations Intestines--> acid reflux and constipation Decreased life expectancy Increase risk of cancers (colon, breast, kidney, prostate)

I had a a successful Parathyroid surgery in 2015 performed by professor Dr Antonio Sitges Serra at Teknon Clinic in Barcelona,Spain.I had all the symptoms related to this illness,which was caught after being treated from kidney stones.One of my glands was ten times it’s normal size,I just would have loved to catch it earlier in my life and avoid all the symptomatology that is difficult to identify or relate to anything in particular but definitely makes ones life a lot harder,in my case,difficulty in focusing and paying attention,palpitations and tachycardia,high blood pressure,ostheopatia actually,I think I had them all..gradually but consistently,5 years after the surgery,all symptoms improved steadily and now,with my 3 glands left performing as expected,my life is much better.

Unfortunately I have been dealing with this brutal disease for exactly 6 years. On top of receiving a heart transplant, on Easter Sunday April 15 2001 I, Unfortunately am also dealing with nasty disease and planning to go to California for surgery. If, I rely, on Toronto, for my surgery, I will be a Dead man. My arteries used to be clear and now they are 90 percent clogged. Unfortunately this is impossible to reverse in a transplant patient. I set up a fundraiser, and, hopefully will still be alive by the time I have the surgery. I was misdiagnosed by many doctors including Deva Boone and Norman From Parathyroid clinic in Florida. I eventually plan to write my autobiography, but right now need to get to California ASAP. gofund.me/91009312

This explains why you get so sick, tired, muscle aches, bone aches, brain fog. Drs need to give this to patients and would save a lot of mental stress about the surgery that is needed. Had my left bottom one removed. had a goiter, with 5 nodules, vitamin dfficiency so bad that had muscle contractions while driving my car. Had to go to ER. did not know what was wrong with me. Scary disease,

Yes, it is a monster 👾 I'm dealing with all these symptoms for over 5 years now. So many Dr's I don't have room to list them all. My Endocrinologist just diagnosed me with hyperparathyroidism last week. High calcium in blood- 1 kidney stone already. Very very sick. Hospital ect. Muscles, nervousness extreme, extreme insomnia, central nervous system issues, heart issues, extreme depression, extreme fatigue you just think your going to die & contemplate it too sometimes. Mental issues, brain fog bad, forgetting things while talking, muscle issues ect. I had like all the workup blood this week, turned in 24 hr urine collection this morning. Sestamibi scan appt today, but unfortunately booked till JULY 30TH, YES JULY. It's may 22 2024 now. I hv to wait over 2 months for the scan now. Disappointed on that. My Endocrinologist will be referring after all that to a surgeon I guess. But I want one that is very well at parathyroid surgery! I'm anxious to maybe get some of my health & life bk? I pray on it everyday. It has destroyed my life, no work for several years, a damper on my marriage ect. Put my health at risk and my mental health at risk. What ashame all the suffering I've had to go through and needless Dr's- specialist ect. Testing and all. To be told, we don't know what's wrong with you. I have had Graves disease autoimmune disease - hyperthyroidism for almost 6 years now too. It's been controlled with 1 pill a day, Metholmazole. The high calcium is what the trigger was that let my endocrinologist finally, to say, Houston, we have a PROBLEM! We have a parathyroid problem here now. 😮 I do not take any medications except the one for Graves disease/ hyperthyroidism Metholmazole. I eat well & healthy, lots of water ect. Can't exercise anymore because Muscle issues ect. 61 young years old. Lol 😂 but feel like 101. People tell me I don't look my age, but this has aged me. Hair & nail problems too. And I must not forget SEVERE CONSTIPATION no matter what I take or do or eat or drink also. It has just about killed me, & all the Testing last 6 years. But finally, the pieces are coming together. I was thinking I was just sick & crazy in the mind. I hope to get treated- surgery soon? Good luck to all that may read this & I pray 🙏 for the one's that has this deadly damaging disease. Sĵodrens I have also. Diagnosed with that autoimmune disease as well, 4 years ago. 🙃 may God bless.

I've been recently diagnosed with hyperparathyroidism (HPTH) and hypercalcemia (HPC - these are my own contractions of these terms). Clearly this video helps link the conditions together, as HPTH appears to lead to HPC. I'm waiting on insurance authorization for a nuclear medicine scan of the PTH glands to determine if the adenoma found on one is localized or not, and at the same time to investigate a 2CM nodule at the isthmus of my thyroid gland. This video is an excellent explanation of this disease and certainly the symptoms mentioned (chronic fatigue, mental concentration, anxiety, and some of the other abdominal problems) fit exactly what I've been dealing with. Thank you.

Like everything else, parathyroid problems are associated with iron overload. 1999, 'Elevated parathyroid hormone 44-68 and osteoarticular changes in patients with genetic hemochromatosis' Here, correlation with PTH levels and iron deposits. Other studies show hypoparathyroidism, but the latter supposedly is very rare (ok there are 4 glands).

My calcium level in my blood is high, vitamin D is terribly low which also showed my results of elevated Hypothyroid. I see the endo doc in 2 wks. Def get all the blood testing done. How long does surgery take?
@qqq1q1qqqqqqq
@qqq1q1qqqqqqq 3 жыл бұрын
Uncomplicated surgery is generally short. The actual removal only takes a few to several minutes. You have to wait for labs drawn after removal to come back to make sure PTH levels have dropped significantly or the surgeon will need to go back in. Therefore a lot depends on the length of time it takes to get those labs back. Maybe 20 minutes of you're lucky. But it is a very delicate procedure due to the location. You want a very knowledgeable and very experienced (in parathyroid surgery) surgeon. There are risks for vocal cord and facial nerve damage. The surgeon should be using a vocal cord monitor (at least in my experience and opinion) and should disclose all risk info prior to surgery. I am so grateful I had an amazing surgeon and a fantastic hospital staff. Unless there are other issues, a minimally invasive PT surgery is typically an outpatient surgery. After mine, went to the pharmacy to pick up pain meds then to Olive Garden for dinner. And shhhhhhh, don't tell my dr but I was in the process of moving so I went and did that in the evening. I had to get at least a mattress to sleep on or it would have been miserable. I did sleep in a recliner for at least a week after that first night though. The elevation of the head and not straining to lift up off a bed were big benefits of the chair. Keeps swelling at a minimum and is just more comfy.

I have researched and researched. Too many controdictions!!!! I read 56% of Hyperparathyroidism cases are misdiagnosed. Also read, that low Vitamin D is a way that the body is trying to protect itself if you really do have hyperparathyroidism!!! If doctors fully understoodd the disease they would not prescribe high dosages of vitamin D. There are a series of other blood test to be given not just the PTH test. Be careful do more researh!
@777Perhaps
@777Perhaps Жыл бұрын
"Although surgery may seem like a simple solution for patients who have an elevated PTH level, symptoms, and positive imaging findings, the operation can be harmful for those with secondary HPT because they’re dependent on increased PTH levels to maintain calcium homeostasis, Dr. Iannuzzi said. Parathyroidectomy is associated with 95%-98% cure rates for primary HPT, but patients with secondary HPT are unlikely to have an intraoperative drop in PTH levels. As a result, they often undergo a bilateral neck exploration that predisposes them to nerve injury. More importantly, if the parathyroid tissue they’re dependent on is removed, it may create irreversible hypoparathyroidism." (citation omitted)

Dinesh Kumar you also need k2 to get the calcium to the bones and prevent calcification . It might also be mainly malabsorption like what the dr said. Gut imbalance problems or low stomach acid.

@ufhhggcvhvcjhv
@ufhhggcvhvcjhv 4 жыл бұрын
Dinesh Kumar since you stated you take vitamin d3 and calcium without k2 is very dangerous it causes calcification too much calcium in the body is fatal it can clog your arteries and cause muscle stiffness but lack of magnesium can also cause muscle stiffness stop calcium take vitamin k2 in both forms mk4 & mk7 i would suggest that you do hair analysis test to see your calcium levels and other nutrients and minerals if calcium is high it means the calcium is not being placed in your bones it’s leaking in the places where it shouldn’t be! That is why k2 directs vitamin d3 and calcium to the bones and sweeps out the excessive amounts. I hope this helps see a nutritional practioner.
@ufhhggcvhvcjhv
@ufhhggcvhvcjhv 4 жыл бұрын
Dinesh Kumar also vitamin d3 alone raises calcium naturally!!! You don’t-need to take calcium get it from food green veggies organic dairy products and almonds etc calcium citrate is the best form but I wouldn’t advice you to take it now see a nutritionist. Or last thing you want to do is test parathyroid gland hormones or a ct scan. This might require surgery if you have non cancerous tumours it needs to be removed to work normally.

Good video, so what! Doctors don't beleive in people getting parathyroid disease, I've had it for years, elevated calcium in my blood at 13, Ostpenia, have fractures, irregular heart beat, constant peeing, thyroid cancer, still doctors ignore real symptoms! What good is to tell real patients when doctors ignore it!!? I even have ultra sounds saying from radiology doctors say I have primary hyperparathyroidism, still my endocrinologist and surgeon said no way, they say the radiologist are wrong!!! What is the answer? I'm 59 years old and had it, as in fed up with all doctors.
