@@GoldenEraBookworm I am short 5ft 7inches and when I was growing up in the 1970’s all the bodybuilders I knew about were tall Arnold and Lou so I didn’t think working out was for shorter guys then like a miracle I found a muscle mag with a picture and a story of Larry Scott and I got an old bench and weights at a yard sale when I was 12 and I’ve been in the workout community since so Larry Scott change my life he has kept me away from drugs and alcohol because I didn’t want to mess up all the work I was doing on my body so Larry Scott made me my best self so once again thank you for keeping my hero memory alive

I think that natural, regular, non-competitive guys who want to just get big and stronger in their normal lives should follow training routines like this. Following routines that the mass monsters do and expecting to get their results is not going to happen unless you’re on massive gear or have point one percent genetics. Larry Scott and the guys from this era can be achieved naturally if you have good genes, a solid diet and the right type supplements.

There are some awesome physiques on today's classic competitions. The main difference is that nowadays they carry waay less fat and less water which might give the "alien" look for you Also today's bodybuilders have bigger ties

This is an excellent video outlining the basic training program of Larry Scott. Wow, this is a high volume training method with heavy weights for bulking and doing a lot of sets, straight sets and super sets. This routine certainly works seeing the results Larry Scott achieved.Great job outlining this basic routine. This is high intensity.

Sorry I thought Larry was against the bench ? He said it in some of his seminars “bench press with a barbell will wipe out your shoulders”. I don’t think Larry would do bench press. He would probably do the neck press as advocated by Vince his mentor. Anyone else agree ?

So many innovative things here, developed by Gironda. One of them is the use of compound supersets that are less common, in which two exercises are used on the same muscle, rather than antagonistic opposing muscles. The close grip bench as he was doing… Using the ez curl makes a big difference, and not lowered the last inches to chest

2:55 everytime a program of those talk about sets, do they include warmup sets or those are sets to failure?
@igorstein5616
@igorstein5616 2 жыл бұрын
don`t read my name no warm up sets because you start with lighter weights and on your 3rd and 4th set they are the heavy ones and then work back down again ,remember you are only doing 6 sets .Never max out on these routines or you will burn out and only go as low as 5 or 6 reps and do them with good style as he mentioned and you will never be exhausted after a workout and that especilly goes for squats as they can drain your system if you go to heavy .Begin the whole routine with comfortable weights and as the days go by tart going a little heavier .I do these routines all the time and are brilliant for getting you into shape fast .Enjoy the workouts that is the secret and you will recover and make good gains
@GoldenEraBookworm

It was mostly a pyramid workout, so no need for warm up
@dontreadmyname4396
@dontreadmyname4396 2 жыл бұрын
but for example, the guys from More Than Muscle specifically say to take all working sets to failure, and to do like 10-16 per workout per bodypart, putting enphasis on not being able to perform a single more rep and stick to 8-12 rep range, they got crazy good results going to failure a lot of times per workout, but then everyone says don't go to failure, maybe both ways are good? it's kind of confusing tbh

To be totally honest, I think Larry is overrated. He had huge arms, decent upper body in general, but he had crappy legs, and never got very hard, even by 60s standards. Have to say, this routine doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Minimal rest between sets of squats? Supersetting BB Preachers with DB preachers? What? For me, Dave Draper was the Golden Boy: MUCH better build than Larry, IMO.
