Everyone is different. I eat a hearty breakfast before boarding a boat, especially if its gonna be rough. I figure Ill throw it up, or Ill be fueled-up for a long day. I always, always keep an eye on the horizon instead of looking down at the deck. Thats the best secret. Thanks. You guys are great.
@SchoandJo2 жыл бұрын
Interesting perspective! It makes sense to be fueled up longer! Love the tidbit about looking at the horizon... didn't know about that until we started boat life! We make up for our quick breakfasts and do the whole eggs, potatoes, veg sausages at least once in the weekends and when I'm lucky Jenn will make some pancakes from scratch 🤤 I think for us the limiting factor is time... those bigger breakfasts take longer to make and clean and when we have an early start / long day its simpler to do something easy. Cheers!

We learned very quickly that our vessel could handle ALOT more than we could! We have become very fair weather cruisers; and that is just fine with us! Thank you for taking the time and effort to share your journey!

Another wonderful video and still catching up on your travels! Please don't forget to take enough "no camera" days. Boredom and relaxation are underrated 😉

I'm impressed with the apparent speed of that e-outboard when pushing your dink and the 2+ of you. What a pleasure to avoid the noise (and occasional frustration) associated with the gas powered alternative.

I think sometimes we take for granted the ease of use - but we are always happy with being able to chat and film while running full throttle 😁

What make and model is your dingy and motor if you don't mind me asking. Love your videos.
@SchoandJo2 жыл бұрын
@@davidgipson1399 Not sure about the dinghy offhand but it's a West Marine model - the motor is an ePropulsion Spirit 3.0! Cheers!

Was never sea sick. Went to get bait out of freezer on boat several years ago in rough seas (4 to 5 ft) and looked down to unlock fridge door. Mistake. Found being topside almost instantly cured it, but could tell if I went back in where I couldn't see would not be pleasant.
@SchoandJo2 жыл бұрын
Ooooh that'll do it... I (Elliot) am good 99% of the time - only very very rarely does it affect me... good thing too!

@@SchoandJo just hoping to give her something to try. Didn't see her on deck when in you were rough water. Working (looking at laptop) probably doesn't help either.

Great video, so beautiful. You make boating look easy, but I know it must be a ton of work. We try to comment on all videos but we’re headed to Ireland later this week for a few weeks, just so you know we still love you guys & haven’t forgotten you; we’ll catch up on the videos & comments.

Thanks so much Steve! It is a lot of work but slowly we've gotten the hang of more and more... Ireland sounds like a fun destination - hope you have fun!!

Another super video. It looks like the most dangerous part of doing the loop is the high speed big boys. It's more enjoyable going slow mo, except the fear of getting run over. Does Ollie get sea sick. Didn't look very happy when you were on the ocean side. Aloha!
@SchoandJo2 жыл бұрын
For sure! We find that most people seem to be courteous and nice and a small percentage don't follow proper etiquette. Ollie doesn't enjoy the swell but doesn't get noticeably sick. Thanks for watching Steve!

Great work. We are really enjoying the videos and watching the journey. Would love to see a video on your solar system and how you set it up to meet the needs of you guys. I wasn't sure if you had already done a video on that.

Good video and it tells me that I am not an ocean going boater on a windy day. Protected mooring seems ideal but the crowd is just something to deal with. Enjoy

Cruises like this make us want to research stabilizers haha - I think tacking is a solid strategy but when you go 6 kts and have a full cruise its hard to decide to go further... thanks for watching Buck!

We went to No Name and the harbor was wall to wall boats rafted together. We were slammed all day by super yachts . The wind picked up overnight. It was one of the worst places we stopped.
@SchoandJo2 жыл бұрын
Were you anchored or also on the wall rafted? We spent 10 days there earlier in the year and it was fantastic! Sorry you had a rough time 😔
@brendasteen40162 жыл бұрын
We tried to go inside and couldn’t- so we dropped anchor outside. Trying to cook on the grill and the hot dogs were rolling off. We ended up inside Islamorada to get out of weather. We loved Oleta River State park. Dog friendly.

At 3:05 what do you think their fuel burn is ? More then I could afford to burn these days for sure. Look like a pretty nice State Park. There will be some calmer days sooner or later. Thanks for the clip
@SchoandJo2 жыл бұрын
Absolutely more than we can afford too! 😁 It was a nice state park, looking forward to spending more time there in the future 🤙

I have a very similar boat and it's not as bad as you'd think. I burn .9 gpm. It looks scary when you see 30 gph but my cruise is 34mph.

At the risk of sounding silly, do dogs ever get seasick? Ollie doesn’t seem to have any trouble. Just wondering.
@SchoandJo2 жыл бұрын
I think some dogs can get seasick - sometimes Ollie looks like she isn't having a good time but she doesn't vomit or anything. Just has her tail between her legs. She's very happy we are back on the ICW 😁
