Just finished the documentary. What a great friendship! ❤ Harper sharing her story, and also seeing how Will is just the greatest supportive friend is helping me to navigate my relationship being the uncle of a newly transitioning 25 year old. Seeing this meant a lot to me! This is what true friendship looks like. The diamond earrings at the end got me! ❤❤❤ You guys definitely have a respect for one another and it shows! I will keep that in mind when navigating in my own life with being uncle to someone who is seeking their own truth! It takes support. Realizing how much Harper has contributed to society with her writing is amazing to me! ❤ KEEP GOING GIRL YOU GOT THIS! Sending much love from a fan! ❤

This film transcends its initial premise of a road trip chronicle to deliver a profound meditation on friendship, identity, and human grace. While the film ostensibly focuses on Harper's journey as a transgender woman, it reveals itself to be much more than a transition narrative. At the heart of the documentary is Harper herself, whose character shines through as the true star. Her grace extends far beyond her quite lovely and very feminine presentation, manifesting as a deep well of compassion, forgiveness, and gratitude that she extends to everyone around her. Harper's vulnerability and spiritual generosity make her a role model not just for the transgender community, but for people of all genders. The film subtly yet powerfully illustrates that Harper is worthy of this documentary regardless of her trans experience, highlighting her as a fully realized, admirable person whose qualities resonate universally.

Some good self reflection here ^ I think it’s human nature to kind of be uncomfortable or unsure around things you’ve never experienced or things that are foreign to you. Our animal instincts sometimes want to categorize things as “unfamiliar = dangerous.” But it’s so important to sit with that discomfort and be curious about why it bubbles up within you, like really tapping into how the ways you were socialized and raised have conditioned you to feel uncomfortable around gay and trans folks. We all are raised within a society obsessed with gender norms (women do XYZ, men do ABC) and when something threatens that “order,” so to speak, it can bring up a lot of discomfort and uncertainty re: our place in / understanding of the world. Working toward respect and acceptance even if you don’t understand is the vital work that we all need to do. Much love to you on your journey, fellow human 💚

Asking questions is tough sometimes because while some are open to answer, most take it as offensive and accuse you as ignorant. So people just jump into their conclusions thanks to those who completed no one understands them. I love this film/documentary. Was touching and refreshing!

What beautiful friendship. I just loved the show. I really appreciate it too. I have a trans son and I still didn't have the perspective I needed until I watched them together and how she was treated in all the places they visited.

Dropping this movie and these type of movies is so important in these kind of times, when hare runs rampant we must make known that we exist and we have a right to exist

So why no mention of this `we` you talk about that `hare` is rampant against...in your channel description?

Oh, wow, Kristen *did* it. That song was such a *perfect* wrapping for the *gift* of that film. [Just finished watching it so my comment begins with the end impression. I'm glad they asked her for the theme song.] And it's awesome that we only got to join Harper & Will for the first leg of the trip and are left to imagine their return journey. [Obviously they had privacy for parts of the trip west, but it's nice that while headed back east, they have far more freedom to do whatever they want.] Good for them and good for the audience. Leave 'em wanting more is the saying, and it works. I want to see Harper's eyes sparkling with feeling her own beauty fully (while wearing Will's gift, or not). It was nice to see her beginning to get there. I hope she can soon shed the lingering filters which inhibit her own ability to purely recognize how truly lovely she is, so that she can increasingly and unceasingly enjoy her womanhood for the rest of her life. What an important and *wonderful* thing they have done together. What a moving treat.

I have a feeling feeling this may win the OSCAR. So much heart this doc has. Maybe the one time Will Ferrell wins an Oscar. And I have a feeling Kristen Wiig may get nominated as well. Her song is perfection for this film. Sadly, she may not win as she's going up against Wicked. Hope she wins though! For sure they'll get nominated though, they're all beloved in the industry.

@cl_co_8262Ай бұрын
happy to hear you liked the interview! 😊 pro tip: it’s better to say that someone *is* transgender, or is a transgender person, rather than “a trans.” Making the identity an adjective rather than a noun makes a difference! Keep on keepin on, friend

Seth, I love you. I've been a fan for years, not only of you but of SNL, Will, and all the alumni. But, I would hope you might reconsider your comment on "ignorant people talking about regret." I am a detransitioner, and a vocal advocate for supporting survivors of the gender cult that young people fall into. Trans regret is not a myth, there is a cultural crisis occurring with young girls and women having identity issues being neglectfully affirmed by therapists and big pharma. This has become a mental health and medical scandal with girls like myself having their breasts cut off, sterilized, brain and bodily growth stunted, and even genital mutilation. The predatory gender medicine industry is a bipartisan concern, and much different than your friend Harper's decision to be gender non-conforming later in life after growing up healthy and fathering children. Your show has helped me through dark, suicidal times before, during, and after both transition and detransition, but it is incorrect to discuss regret as a myth when countries like the UK and Netherlands have done systematic reviews of evidence for transition outcomes and found the data does not support it. This is a medical ethics issue, not about phobia.

I've always considered (1) what's the question, (2) who's asking, and (3) what's the motivation behind the question? Often the question(s) comes from a place of ignorance and people are naturally curious, and I'm TOTALLY okay with that. I can generally tell when a question is sincere. I can also tell when I'm being baited to answer so I can be countered with some pre-packaged BS about how my lifestyle is wrong, how it's corrupting children, or how it "goes against God." I usually brush off those questions but if I'm feeling sassy, I'll give the questioner a run for their money and tell them where they can stick their uninformed and antiquated opinions.
@jimalford63592 ай бұрын
I do understand My daughter is trans women and she has also come across questions that that are invasive instead of true curiosity.
@HMFan20102 ай бұрын
@@jimalford6359 Even some of the more invasive questions, albeit awkward, can be genuine instead of mere morbid curiosity. To some, the concept of being trans is so foreign and unknown. It doesn’t help that politicians and other “uninformeds” like Matt Walsh, Charlie Kirk, and Michael Knowles are throwing around all sorts of fallacies and outright lies about it (no, Donald Trump, a boy CANNOT get sexual re-assignment surgery at the nurse’s office in your local elementary school). On top of it all, many of these people have limited or erroneous information about how their OWN reproductive system works, let alone that of the opposite sex! I truly believe that most people don’t care about trans people in a “live and let live” kind of way. But I also believe that there are many non-TGs who are genuinely interested in broadening their horizons, asking questions, and getting to know their fellow humans just a little bit better. One can read and watch documentaries all one wants but talking to a REAL trans person allows one direct access to someone who has/is living through the actual circumstances. You can’t ask a book or a documentary follow up questions. I’ve been asked a few awkward questions in my life. First, I realize how extremely difficult and brave it is to broach the subject so I give the questioner credit for that. Second, as long as the question isn’t purposefully antagonistic, I try my best to explain things in a calm and relaxed manner, letting the questioner know that I don’t mind discussing it, and that they need not fear some kind of violent, defensive response from me. That goes FAR in building trust, imparting CORRECT information, and connecting on a human level. There are times I’ve had to answer “I don’t know...” That demonstrates while I might be “living the lifestyle,” I don’t have ALL the answers. More times than not, I frequently hear “I never thought about it that way,” “wow, you’re not that much different from everyone else,” or “I did not know that.” Strength and hugs to you and your daughter. Have a wonderful and fulfilling journey. 🙂

I really love my corrections jackal mug that you sent me, Seth. It truly has made me happy whenever I use it. But this Monday, my children accidently dropped it on the floor, because THEY were not corrected enough of the way to put mugs on top of each other (bigger ones UNDER the smaller ones), and that is on YOU for making such a big mug. We here in Helsinki, Finland, are used to drink from mugs that are moderate in size. So, since I am heart broken, as my treasured huge american Corrections Jackals mug is now in pieces and I cannot drink from it while watching Corrections every week, I would like to have a new mug, please. Would it help if I sent you a new postcard?

And what if I don’t believe in your God? What if I believe in a god of love, Not judgment, not hatred, not narrowmindedness, but love and acceptance. Ask yourself who is hurt who is harmed by Harper accepting herself? it seems to me she’s the only one who has felt such pain to simply be herself. who would choose such sorrow?

I think it’s crazy when there’s people that hate on others that just want to be happy themselves. Trans, gay people etc are not the ones damaging our world. These people just want to be happy and loved and live their lives like we all do. They’re not causing harm personally to anyone’s lives. Well done Will for sticking by his friend and so publicly. In a world full of opinions and hate he showed what a true friend is.
