In this video, Dominican twin sisters Sol and Luna react to Modern Filipinos speaking SPANISH as if it was the 1800s by Aljohn Poliglot and The REBIRTH of SPANISH in the PHILIPPINES? Why more Filipinos Speak it now by ‪@EricMartinezPH‬
Once a prominent tongue in the Philippines, Spanish has since vanished from everyday use, but believe it or not, more and more Filipinos are learning Spanish in the Philippines today.

If 30% of your language is Spanish, it’s not hard for Filipinos to learn how to speak espanol. We already got the pronunciation down pat, all we need is to formalize it…. Why do you think the tv series Marimar was so loved in the country? 😅 we already speak 2 major languages aside from our own local dialects… I think Spanish language should be brought back in schools. ❤

It is not 30 percent it can only be 3 percent or less. If it is 30 percent then I will be able to understand a little of what they say because i am working with spanish people and I can't even understand a single word they say. If it is written I may be able to understand a word or two in their sentences.

Nah.. malay would be much more practical to revive as it has a longer history of being not just the island's lingua franca but also in the entire southeast asia, and the region's economy is growing rapidly thereby opening opportunities. Being able to communicate on your next door neighbor on a deeper level is much better IMO

If Spanish were to be taught in all levels in the Philippine public and private schools again, it would be easier to make Filipinos speak Spanish as their first language within three to four generations. Si se volviera a enseñar español en todos los niveles en las escuelas públicas y privadas de Filipinas, sería más fácil hacer que los filipinos hablaran español como su primera lengua dentro de tres o cuatro generaciones.

You need to contact Erick Martinez for the Spanish Speaking Group. I think they have a group get-together. One time it was held at a Bar in Makati or was it at BGC with all the Spanish Speaking people from Central & South Americans as well as Filipino Spanish speakers who attended that night's soiree. This categorization is non-arbitrary and i think the one you refer to is pegged in english. If you speak english, then obviously the easier languages to learn are those of the indo-european like Dutch, German, French, Russian etc.. Likewise if you speak only Tagalog, then the easiest language you could learn are those of austronesian kind like Cebuano, Kapampangan, Javanese, Malay etc.

We lived in a multi-lingual home. Since my dad has a more Hispanic heritage but living in Angeles City, Pampanga, he would speak Spanish to his parents, brothers and sisters, Pampangueño to my mom who was from Sta. Rita, Pampanga and also Tagalog. Both my parents would speak to my younger brother and I in English since we were among the first born and many of our relatives on my dad's side married a US air force soldier. When our younger sisters were growing up, they preferred to speak Tagalog so having lunch and dinner together was a multi-lingual affair. Unfortunately, I was lazy so I mostly spoke English and only learned to speak Tagalog when I was around 15 hence until now, I have difficulty with deep Tagalog words hehe. 🤣

Hi, actually Spanish is now only an optional language as stated in the constitution of the Philippines. It's not a popular language of the Philippines which most Filipinos stick only to speaking Filipino and English in any communication. I think Spanish will remain only a voluntary language learned by those elites. No offense to the thoughts of Pinoys here but Spanish is remain an underrated language in the Philippines, it will never become a compulsory language learning publicly✌✌✌
