Lawrence Wong to Become PM & Companies Must Allow Flexi Work Requests

We knew this was coming, but it still surprised us when it was finally announced. DPM Lawrence Wong will be taking over as Singapore’s Prime Minister come 15th May. Are we ready for a new PM? What does this announcement mean for the timing of the upcoming General Elections? Elsewhere, authorities announced that all employers must institute a process for workers to make formal requests for flexible work arrangements from December onwards. Does this move the needle on employment welfare, or is it just a grand wayang?

Please dont quit on KZbin. May I suggest a topic to cover local journalism? Whilst you mentioned DPM LW was a little paggro, I felt it was the incompetence of the journalists in asking the right questions during Press Conf. Many examples during Covid 19 where questions were asked when answers were already provided prior. One can't help but feel that these journalists were tasked to ask a specific questions, and when it's their turn, regardless of the what was said before, they simply ask the questions that they were assigned. Had they even listened or paid attention to the statements the Ministers made (either MTF or other PC), those questions shouldn't have surfaced. If DPM / PM-to-be appears on your show, hopefully you can ask him questions about his style of leadership (not forward conversation). Example, does he believe in snap election or a fairer process where GE date is announced way earlier (like the US PE)? In reducing carbon footprint, how would his swearing in ceremony be different? Should GST vouchers be applied across the board regardless of income level?

restore employer cpf back to 20% and employees salary to be 3k starting salary as cost of living and hawker food also increase but salary stagnant for 2 decade

Your salary stagnant only lah. If gov put up a minimum wage of 3k. Everything the price will increase too. Therefore it will back to square one. Earn 3k still be struggling. The only way to get out of struggling is to upgrade oneself and get a better job that pay better. Not gov set an amount how much the employer should pay.

LW was born n raised in singapore. Only his dad was from ipoh. If like that can link LW to ipoh then his dad will be from China cos grandparents definitely from China.
