whenever Maangchi talks about her childhood memories i tear up a little bit for no reason. she's such an amazing woman and being far away from your home and your culture must be a rewarding but difficult experience. she's bringing a piece of her history with her cooking for the western world to appreciate and get to know, and it's a form of storytelling in order to propagate our species as human beings. it's so pure, joyful and noble, maybe that's why it makes me cry!

That rice cake looks MILLIONS times better than the 'rice' cakes you get in the shops here in U.K. I gotta get me those unprocessed red beans for cooking though. I'll swing by my closest Oriental Supermarket, see what I can pick up. I had a load of rice flour years ago but didn't know about your youtube channel then :( I think next month I will be making some of your famous kimchi. The sun is finally out! Need to get some quality hot pepper flakes :D. Spicy, spicy! Looking forward to your next video.

If you can't eat it at once,you can rap it with plastic bag and freeze it!!Whenever u want to eat it take it out and warm it at microwave for few minute😀

I just tried it after a long time wanting to do it. I am not 100% sure if i did it right but i feel like the recipe is one that work well. The beans worked amazing, they are delicious. But since i never had a rice cake before i just don't know if it turned out properly. For me i don't like the chewy texture, it doesn't work for me. The taste of the rice flour itself is also quite bitter. But i see myself incorporating the beans in many more recipes. The cake is not sweet at all, but i like it that way and the beans are delicious. I don't have a steamer like you, wehere i live we have steamers that look like ovens or microwaves. So i followed your recipe by steaming first at 100°C then turned it down to 80°C. No idea if that makes a huge difference. But i kind of expected the rice cake to turn out a bit more crumbly, and less dense/stretchy/chewy. But then again maybe it's supposed to be like this and i just don't like it 😂 maybe if you see my comment or someone else maybe can tell me. anyway it's always interesting to try something new. I could imagine maybe doing a western style cake with these beans in it or something☺️ Thank you for sharing your wonderful recipe and i will definitely try ore if them👍

It sounds like your rice cake turned out just like it is supposed to, nice and chewy 😊. Although not authentic, to make the rice cake more tasty, you could try subbing a bit of the liquid with an essence (vanilla or coconut would've my choice) and some type of liquid sweetener e.g. rice syrup or maple syrup 👍
