Layers - letting parts of some go while adding more - the delicate balance or risk and trust

Layers used to baffle me for years. How do you get them, see through them, utilize them in the creative process?
It’s obvious now that you need to create layers to start answering those questions. But, the rest of the answers have been discovered over time, exploration, experience,… and I’m not done yet.
The thing I love about creating my art is that it is mine. It’s a personal journey where I follow my curiosity and ideas. I don’t use techniques I’ve learned from others. I discover them on my own which is a big part of the intrigue for me. And the search. The search for what I like in my creative process and what resonates with me.
This is just a snippet of the search, me seeking composition, exploring colour, shape, line, and me.

So appreciative of how you share your process. I’m learning how to let go and let things happen. You demonstrate that so well, at the same time as you use your knowledge of color and design to make such gorgeous paintingings. I would let so much go as “finished” for fear of losing those things I loved as I worked. There is always more. The abundant life in paint.

It's a rubber paintbrush.

Its called a scraper but it's rubber that you use to push paint. Most major craft stores carry them now in different sizes.
