When people ask me how to learn F2L, I always tell them to learn it intuitively. But sometimes they don't find efficient solutions, or a solution at all. This video explains how I understand every F2L case intuitively.

DilanRodriguez learn 4LLL if you haven’t already. It’s not that many algs and with it, you should be able to massively improve the time of your last layer

@@DJD10113 bro don't be sad. I also suffered from this but after learning Advanced cross, F2L, 2-Look OLL and about 17 of 21 cases of PLL my average dropped from 1 min 10 sec to 26 sec. Be patient I took 3 month to reach 26 sec my pb is 16.96 I did a full step solve and got it (with my favourite PLL J perm). Stay focused and concentrate on what you are learning. Don't pressurise yourself like I did. Focused on things you need to give more time than cubing you will get there eventually. Edit- This was 3 months ago now I avg 16-17s my pb is 11.17. Now I make a Efficient cross with advanced f2l and 2 look last layer (Full OLL + Full PLL)

DilanRodriguez, I didn’t start learning anything CFOP related until I averaged 1 minute. It’s not really necessary to worry about CFOP until then. I learned beginner f2l first and with that I was sub 45. I didn’t even learn any algs until then. I avg. about 30 rn but I’m not sure how good my strategy was cus I’ve been cubing about 9 months and am a noob.

This was helpful. I tried to learn algs, then started doing it intuitively which worked better. I found that I now needed to learn more in order to improve. Once you have an understanding of the basic mechanics a video like this is really useful.

I know this comment is 2 years old but I did intuitively at first because learning the algs for this, OLL and PLL was just to much. Once I got basic OLL and PLL down Ive been looking into refining this stage. I looked at some algs but this was far more effective use of my time.

I actually learned f2l by myself by just sitting down and experimenting different solutions, and it worked! ( It only took me one week but I was very frustrated whenever I forgot the solution I came up with).

Thanks for making this F2L tutorial. My intuitive F2L solving is straight trash. It's been over a year and I still cant do the basic corner matching to edge consistently. So recently I began studying the F2L algorithms and my speed has improved. I will study this video and attempt to learn intuitive F2L again. Have a good day.

Sorry to hear that. I've gotten to the point where i don't even pair the same color pieces. I don't go for speed i go for learning and understanding. For instance: if you have the blue/red/white corner, and the green/orange edge. Green is the same as blue, and orange is the same as red, because of the rule of opposites. If you have the b/r/w corner, and the blue/orange, or green/red edge it's the opposite. So Because the corner is blue/red, with the blue orange edge, the blue will match with the orange and the red with the blue, because it's on the other edge of the blue center. The same with the green red. Because it on the other edge of the red center.

super great video. little comment. you say hide the corner for lots of soves, but sometimes it 'do a U'(twist the top) and then.. hide the corner', other times its simply 'hide the corner'. Best f2l intuitve video i've found so far!

I am learning 2FL I noticed I scrambled the cube by making 3rd or 4th 2FL. After practice practice I didnot look to the video tutorial, but look to the cube and visionised it. Now I get somewhere and fixed the 4th 2FL without breaking the other ones. First 2 layers were fixed. Now it is time to watch this video, Thx for making so many tutorials

At 6:30 you can be slot-agnostic. It does not require caution whenever you build your pair using u2. The pair you take out stays together or at the most ist still a three move insert.

I noticed in many cases we can do one fewer move by inserting with sledgehammer, when the corner is white-side up and you have to hide the edge piece, sledgehammer flows nicely after we match the pieces, with e.g. L2 F' L' F whereas a normal insertion would be L T' L T L'.

You should also include the many possibilities of not like color pairs. Learning them can be a huge time saver. For instance matching up the blue/red/white corner with the green/red edge. They are also intuitive, as they are the exact same moves, the only difference is that you continually move the bottom, to preserve the corners, while slotting in the the middle edges. It's alot more fun and really ups your level of understanding for the cube. My current method is the middle layer scramble, i don't know if it's actually a method, i'm sure someone has done it, but it's the most fun one i have done, and i've never seen a video of it. It's not the best and it certainly won't be breaking any records,but when you are bored you find something different to do, there are two ways you can do it. You can either seperate the cube, or learn a lot of algorithms. I don't like that, so i just seperate the cube. Basically how it works. Is you place all of the white pieces on the white face, doesn't need to be solved, they just need to be their, you then solve the middle layer. Which will obviously seperate all the yellow pieces. Then you treat both the bottom and top layer as a 3rd layer solve. It's really slow, but it's different and for a beginner if you struggle with the last layer having to do it twice, will get you there.

And also the way you explained putting in the corner pieces while preserving the edges but just moving the bottom layer. I think you're describing "keyhole"which is just a method to put in the corners and edges, even if they're not paired with the same color pieces, but going into the correct places. J perm also has many good videos about it.

If the white sticker is facing up and tthe edge is in the slot.. If the stickers of the pair dos not match then u can just do a u move to move the corner away and then do a sledge hammer thought the slot instead of triple sexy :)

16:55 For that annoying case instead of doing R U' like phillip did just do R U R' U' and then you'll get the case at 9:16 which is much much easier and much much faster than the case you'll get 17:03. Hope this helps!

How can I get those cases to be in the cube to practice, I mean how can I get to a specific F2L case to solve it, I need the specific case in the cube to then solve it.

In most of these, he is starting at a solved cube, so you probably could look in slow motion to see what moves set up each case. Another way is if you have a Bluetooth cube and use the training mode of Cubeast, you can practice cases directly without setting up anything. It takes a little bit to get used to just watching the cube on the screen instead of the real one, but it works.

Hi Philip, I use to execute each case in te same way as you do, but What I've noticed is that all my solves take around 60-65 moves (from the cross to the PLL) I mean, to solve the whole cube and I've seen that it should take around 35 - 40 moves. Maybe it's because for each case, I use to align the pieces to the front right empthy slot first? I think that my problem is that I'm not eficient on my solves. My average is 28 and my PB is 21.44. What do you recommend? I'm full CFOP

there's 3 problems there, 1)this are Last slot algs and when there's more slots free you can save 2-3 moves per pair in lots of ways, 2) your number is wrong the average with cfop is about 60(a bit less if you use move optimal algs and stuff 3)

Hi! Don't be worried if you're slower with f2l when you start. I was wayy slower with f2l because I didn't recognize the cases and I had to think about everything that I needed to do. Don't go back to the beginner method though! Stick to f2l, learn the basics, then learn the trickier cases, that's where I'm at now. Good luck!
