Recipe here: www.joyofbaking... Stephanie Jaworski of Joyofbaking.com demonstrates how to make a Lazy Daisy Cake. When I was in Junior High School I took a Home Economics Class. For half of the school year we learned how to sew and for the other half we were taught cooking. The Home Ec classroom had several kitchens where, in small groups, we cooked a complete meal, including dessert. It was a fun class and I still have my Home Economics cookbook, "Recipes for Young Homemakers" Selected by Manitoba Suburban Home Economic Teachers. Because the recipes in this cookbook were written for students with very little cooking knowledge, they are easy to follow and they work. One recipe from this book that I still like to make is called a Lazy Daisy Cake. Probably so named because if you're feeling a little lazy, or in a rush, this cake is easy to make, uses everyday ingredients, and it tastes so good.

You're not the only one. I love how she always tells us the grams as well. She really considers all of her viewers. It can be so frustrating having to try to convert from American cups into grams. She's great.

My husband had fond memories of eating Lazy Daisy Cake at his grandmother’s as a child. I spent years trying to find the recipe. Thanks for sharing this demonstration with us. I spent so long looking for it that I can’t believe I finally found it. He said this is exactly the recipe his grandmother used. . Making it tomorrow. You do a wonderful job of teaching. Thanks again

I heard on the news that today is National Dessert Day. I have never heard of this holiday, but I plan to go to the store to get some coconut to make this cake tonight. I've already viewed this video several times while dreaming of eating it with the homemade ice cream I made a couple days ago. It should be a very delicious combination.

I wish more schools still taught home economics. You don't see a love of baking, cooking, or generally creating things at home, from young people anymore. I was homeschooled until 8th grade, and some of my fondest memories are helping my mother in the kitchen. Now that I'm a mother, I love seeing how much enjoyment my toddler gets from helping me bake.

I also appreciate the way you don't waste things. It really irks me when people don't scrape things clean. You also suggested using left over cake scraps in a trifle in one of your videos. I see way too much waste of food...glad you are better than that!

Stephanie, I just made this cake this weekend, and it's delightful. I can't get over how light and spongey it is, without folding in egg whites. How is that possible? A Great little cake easy to prepare. Thank you. I used convection oven and cut off 5 minutes off the cooking time. My oven automatically sets the temp 25 degrees lower.
