What are you afraid of? Failure? 1. Learn - the more knowledge you have, the more confident you'll be. 2. Network - network with other managers, they have started from ground zero and have lots to share 3. Self-awareness - I am good at this and can figure it out, I am not good at this and will need to ask for help. Ask for feedback. 4. Help others - Help others succeed and build their careers. You build confidence by sharing often. 5. Celebrate - See small wins, elevate morale in the team and yourself 6. Look good - you'll feel good and confident if you know you look good 7. Positive psychology - put an elastic band on your wrist and snap it against your wrist every time you have a negative thought 8. Don't be afraid to ask for help - be vulnerable and strengthen your self confidence 9. Develop a sense of humor - break the tension if needed

😖I experience that asking for help is a sign of weakness. It’s held over people’s head and used against them even if it’s a person learning a whole different job with zero experience. The immaturity is necrotic in the military!

Some of these guys are downright rude or forget why an employee is doing a certain task as if it's foreign...reminds of a quote by Al Capone where he says: you can get further with a kind word than you could with a gun...meaning being nasty is actually counter productive....treat everyone fair see how more inviting you come across..

Hello I’m a 22 year old new store manager and when I say new I’m mean like promoted two month ago new. Okay to tell u bit of back store I started with my company it will be three years in October. I started as a manager got promoted to assistant and now I’m a store manager. When I tell u I worked my ass off to get to this point. Like working 50-60 hours a week and even was given the dms assistant and known by the regional and even teaching new empowerment of the company. Getting to my point now. The store I got is my home store I left for a lil and now I’m back. When I was young and stupid I talk crap about my other manager 😅 but keep in mind it was true. Like not doing nothing or being on there phone. ( the old store manager or my ex boss would sit in the bathroom for hours go on long breaks and show up late and never come in if someone called off) so I was frustrated because of this so I took it out on them. I fixed the problem that I created with my now employees but I have a problem with my commercial manager. He was previously a store manager to the company and to another company but the point is that he tried to under mind me or tries to put me down. By trying to micro manage me about thing I want done my way. He does want his own store for the time being he is under me. I’ve been nothing but respectful but there is so much tension like he’s to sales calls on Monday and Wednesday and he don’t wanna complete then when they are due and says that he works at his own paste and if the dm has problem to have him call him. It’s plain disrespect and I think it’s jealousy bc he wants this store. The man does nothing but sit on the phone in the back n watch til toks. Write ups will no work in my company bc he is “valuable” because he's meet the company sales which has always been there. I'm not on a power trip and never have been just want a tension free work zone 😂 any advice?

This needs to be taught to enlisted military leadership! E-6 & E-7 levels precisely. The problem with military leadership is it lacks most of the traits you have discussed (without going into long detail). This is a major factor as to why the military is drowning in retention rates and new recruit enlistment rates. TOXIC leadership is a cancer in the military. Mostly bc people have gone right from high school straight to the military and have been stuck in a high school level leadership mentality and maturity.

@@LeadershipwithMike I caught a lot of hate being younger in my first corporate leadership role. I think lots of people think that you get a turn at leadership but it should go to the most effective and prepared to lead.

Can you or have you produced any videos about self leadership? For example if I feel I've got potential to become a leader but know I want to walk the walk for a while so I'm embodying it before I do it but also so that when I put forward the decision makers have already seen good habits? I wouldn't want to be a huge hypocrite. 😆
