Substitute the intent of hitting the golf ball with the intent of rotating your torso.Success follows,you just have to trust!!

When people learn to ride a bike they learn a trick they're unaware of and they learn to do it instinctively even though they're unaware of it. That thing is counter-steering. It's what allows you to steer. Ask anyone and they'll say, "you lean in the direction you want to go and you go that way." If you actually did that you'd fall off the bike every time - which is what happens when you learn to ride a bike. Learning is figuring out how to manipulate the bike under you, not the other way around. Golf is the same - there is an element to golf that all good golfers do that they're unaware of. This is why asking a good golfer for advice rarely works because they're completely unaware of what it is they do that makes them good. Most likely they figured it out as a kid. Then there's the biggest question about golf that no one ever asks, "What direction do I swing?" People don't ask because they think they know the answer, and all of them are wrong. That's like trying to learn algebra without ever knowing what 1+1 equals.

It's so hard to let go of trying to force perfect contact though. That is the real mental block to good golf in my opinion.

Agreed - you need to train your nervous system to let go without adding anything. Anytime you try to speed the club up, you will create a muscle contraction that will actually destroy the natural acceleration of the club!

Besides swinging The Pro, any other suggestions for this training of the nervous system? I've had some success with watching the end of the Pro to quiet down those impulses, but they still crop up at the worst times

Hey Dan. I have tried to buy a Pro but I don't do Pay Pal. How else may I order one?

What about swinging the Whippy Tempomaster????
@danmartingolf2 жыл бұрын
The problem with most trainers, even the whippiest ones, don't have a massless connection between what you hold (the grip) and the weight at the end. You can't tell if you are allowing the radius to extend or if you are applying unnecessary torque to the trainer because it bends. But if you are swinging it correctly it wouldn't bend at all and would stay in a straight line all the way on the forward swing!

Learning to swing the Pro as a "pro". How can it successfully transition this feeling to swing a golf club? I can see getting good to swinging the Pro, but once you exchange it to a golf club is the real challenge. So what is the skinny?

p.s. isn't that the roadblock????????

The PRO provides insight to what type of motion actually supports the freewheeling acceleration that can be transferred from rotating the body around the vertical line of gravity. Once you understand the motion with the PRO, you will increase your awareness of how you need to move to support the swing. Once you are proficient with your PRO, then you work to compare the differences in movements with your club vs. the correct model of the PRO. The PRO gives you the model to engage in correct practice!

I feel like I understand it but don't understand how players like Jon Rahm who have such aggressive swings/transitions can swing with the momentum when it appears they are jerking the club with great force/torque on the handle
@danmartingolf2 жыл бұрын
They have a high capacity for speed and instability - these things are unique to the individual. But they are definitely transferring momentum!! If they didn't, they wouldn't be able to hit it so far!
