Hey everyone, thanks for tuning in! This video is the beginning of me learning how to wheelie. I am not an expert or someone you should be learning from. I am just trying to share my experience and wanting to get feedback from those of you out there who are great at wheelies!
Be safe, wear your gear, and don't do this on public roads.

Thanks for watching! Remember, I am not an expert. I'm just some dude trying to learn how to wheelie and hopefully get some positive feedback/tips from you wheelie experts out there. Thanks! If you're going to attempt this though...it is dangerous. -Wear gear. -Practice on private/closed roads. -Don’t rush it.

I have a Mt 09 and usually run on the A mode 3 gear 80-110km / h. Quickly press the clutch. Then it rises very nicely. Everything below 80km / h in use B mode and 2 gear.

Few tips: - Go to a lot, don't practise wheelies on the streets. - Slow down! Go in 2nd gear, and pop it when going as slow as you can. - Cover your rear brake You'll get there eventually, just practise a ton but not on the fcking streets man.

I’m no expert either but can ride pretty good wheelies at balance point. Baby steps brother. Turn TCS off, put in B mode 2nd gear and just keep playing with it. Little more throttle at a time and pop the clutch and just keep practicing getting it up a little higher each time and try not to panic and slam the throttle shut and gradually roll off also cover the rear brake just in case lol. Enjoy cause once you learn it is very addictive! 🙌🏼

I only tried power wheelie on my mt09. I’m a noob as well. From first gear at 6500rpm give it a wrist twist. So far on my best attempt i’ve managed to shift up until 3rd hear with wheel up. What I’ e noticed is that, when the wheel is up 20cm I already feel like its vertical 😂.

I finally got a chance to take my 2019 out and work on my unicycle impressions today. I come from a 600cc 4cyl that I never tried whoolies on. I got some pretty good power wheelies going on, not rossi level but fairly respectable for a noob. The mt09 is definitely the bike to learn them on, TCS off, power mode in A, ass on the grab strap and she floats up like an angel with a smooth roll on the throttle. Just need to get more comfortable with the balance point and shifts

I almost dropped my bike the first time and boy did I loosen the chain. My friend at the time could do them so effortlessly and I thought, if he could do then so could I. Boy was I wrong. This was back at a time when there was no internet. To this day, I am not very good at it. I'm a bit older now and find power wheelies on a mt-10 are my thing but i do not ride them for yery long. Lol. Good luck and stay safe, my friend. Oh I love the mt-09 in the ice flou colour scheme.

If you’re still practicing, as I will be on another new bike. Always cover the rear brake.. rear brake control is key, but also when you clutch it up, find an optimal spot for the throttle where it’ll keep you going. On top of that, the MT-09 can also very easily power wheelie. Just have to to keep throttling on and off through out the RPM’s and see where the bike jerks the most!

Dead ass bro same spot right now. Baby wheelies with decent ones mixed in here and there.. on my second day so far. I feel bad beating on my beautiful mt but i get such a dang thrill from wheelies, its addictive. On first gear wheelies, I noticed it was easier to have a smooth landing when starting at a higher rpms then popping clutch.. for whatever reason second and third gear just do rolling burnouts while doing 30-50 mph. Been taking advantage of that also.

Mt09 wheelier here 🤚, it’s way better with TC off, i think your doing pretty good actually for just starting, once you get the muscle memory down for popping the clutch it gets more consistent, and I know when you pop it up it feels like your about to flip backwards but I promise you you have a lot more room to go back, another thing that might help is a stunt clutch lever, I have one on my MT and one finger pulls on it give you way more grip on the bars since you can have 3 fingers and a thumb wrapped around it. I bought one on amazon for 30$ I think it was called CNC clutch lever, it’s just as good if not better than the RSC 130$ lever. And I know ppl are gonna say cover the rear brake but that’s BS until you get to balance point. Even you cover the rear brake your never going to use it, as long as you stay in front of balance point or right at balance point just releasing the throttle will put the wheel down. So I wouldn’t even worry about the rear brake until your doing balance point wheelies.
@julietechosierra
@julietechosierra 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tips! I have been wondering if I should change my clutch lever or something. I think I found that clutch lever you mentioned on amazon, I'll give it a try. By the pictures of it, it looks like it will keep me from crushing my ring finger with the lever too. haha.

Jaye Singleton yea it’s barely got enough room for 2 finger downshifts 1 finger is perfect, I did have 1 little problem where it just didn’t have enough tightening room to really clamp down on the bars really good, like if I put a lot of effort into it I could move it a little, so all I did was put 1 piece of black electrical tape on the bar and then put the clutch over it and it’s perfect. It’s just me but I would rather pay 30$ and a piece of electrical tape than 130$ for the RSC, but the actual strength it takes to pull the clutch in is literally cut in half..maybe more it’s so easy to pull now with 1 finger

Question what gear how many RPM are you at and what the best RPM you found when popping the clutch, if your that worried a out your seals change the fork fluid to heavier which is a good idea even if not doing wheelies. I don't bother with wheelies if you see my bikes you will know why, get more attention from every one checking out my bikes than doing wheelies. I enjoy going fast in the twisties and working on that than wheelies. KEEP TRYING YOU WILL GET THERE IF THAT'S YOUR THING IT'A LIKE ANY THING PRACTICE MAKE PERFECT.

@@icbeiz lol not much at all in fact I try not do them in first at all but sometimes it just kind of happens when you roll on the throttle, and in second gear it’s a lot easier to just give it a little crack. The bike makes so much power that you really don’t have to give it much gas, it seems like what makes the difference is your body position so I typically just rock back a bit on the seat and give the bars a little pull. Try practising on a mountain bike to get used to how far up the balance point is coz your way off currently. Omce u get used to how far up it is you will find the bike will pop up there and stay there quite easily rather than chasing it out coz the front is way too low. Keep practising

Day 1 some scray shit jeez... hitting limiter and letting clutch out your crazy lol. I started learning power wheelies in 2nd its easier i think for starters. I got an mt09 as well not that i can wheelie that good at all lol

maybe learning with power wheelies instead of clutch wheelies is a safer and easier way. MT09 can power wheelie I think

In the video I had it on. I didn't know to turn it off until after this video. having the TC off and the bike in B mode has made it so much easier for me now though.

Not a great bike to learn on. I have never been great at carrying wheelies UNTIL I bought this old Honda XL600R it had 2 carbs for one cylinder one for slow speed the other for high and that bike was SO easy to loft and control on the balance point via throttle alone! I looked like a pro on that thing! I could literally shift through the gears in a wheelie it was that easy ....never since had that great a wheelie machine ,,,,lots of bikes easy to loft but not easy to ride endlessly like that old XL ...I would have kept that bike forever but A I did not realize how special it was and B it was nearly impossible to start when hot which was a TOTAL PITA!

Isn't it funny to watch people do sick wheelies and think about how easy it is, then you go try and shit yourself when the wheel pops up 4inches. Lol.

I know you're new to wheelies and trying to learn but clutch up wheelies are much less predictable than "power up" wheelies. With the mt09 making over 100 hp it has more than enough power to shift your weight back in the seat and roll on the throttle to get your wheelie game started. Furthermore you'll probably kill the clutch discs before you blow fork seals trying to learn this way.
@julietechosierra

Ahh ok. yeah I've been playing around with power wheelies lately but they honestly scare me more than clutch ups at this point. I probably just need to get more practice with them. Thanks!

@snizzletoff 4 жыл бұрын
you cant clutch up with TCS on. power wheelies are possible in any mode and TCS on 1. If you try a clutch up TCS immediately kicks in and stops it, needs to be off and that is the scary part lol
@julietechosierra

I didn’t learn to turn the traction off until after this video. It still went up with it on, but I find B mode with TCS off makes it come up a lot easier and it’s more predictable/controllable.
