one of my favorite things about being autistic is that i almost dont have this problem, purely because im content eating the same thing every day and watching the same tv shows. for the last 7 years, ive always ordered salmon and avacado sushi whenever we get japanese. i have about 5 tv shows that i cycle through, and they all have enough episodes that once ive finished she-ra, the good place, gilmore girls, brooklyn 99, and how to train your dragon, i can start again because ive forgotten enough about she-ra that its still enjoyable, and so the cycle continues. this way i can sit down with my food and watch any episode of one of my shows, or one of the three or so movies i like (birds of prey, barbie movies, httyd again, ect) and its great. not a super interesting take i know but just thought id share bc its just another reason i love being autistic and the good parts of being autistic aren't recignised nearly enough :]]

Same for me. I find one thing I like and I obsess over it for three months before I find something else I enjoy. It's great and makes finding entertainment the easiest thing ever. EA R That makes sense. The nice thing about “MAX” though was that it actually narrowed your choices down to a specific handful of titles, if I remember correctly. Netflix’s algorithm also gives you suggestions based on your preferences, but the list of suggestions seems almost as endless as the larger catalog......so it ends up being useless as a selective tool.

Ok great video and on a more serious note, there’s an app called “Upflix” that will pick something on Netflix for you. You can go in totally blind with no requirements or you can pick by how many stars they got on rotten tomatoes or the genre. I am studying this at Uni, my tutor calls it "Peak TV", we have so much choices that it has become impossible to enjoy and consume even an insignificant percentage of it. This is why streaming services like HBO are deemed "more than just TV", it promises you a smaller collection of quality entertainment whereas services like Netflix offer you more shows than anyone needs or wants, and people will probably just end up re-watching Parks and Rec. It is an odd phenomenon of having too much choice and not enjoying it, it can easily make you feel guilty but peak TV has really messed up how we as a SoCieTy ingest shows so try not to worry about it as much as you do, you're not alone in feeling overwhelmed.

I know this so well. I'm also in therapy right know and I told my therapist about analysis paralysis, without knowing the name of the phenomenon and she said, that the brain will always tell you that you didn't do enough, or didn't choose the right/best thing you did/show you watched/topic you studied/... But as humans we can learn to manage these thoughts. The day is only 24 hours, you only can do, what you can do, one thing/show/topic/step... after another. I also still have to learn that, implement that in my daily life and way of thinking, but it might be a good thing to be aware that, the way we think is like a habit and u can get used to think "I'm never doing enough of what I could or should be doing" to "I'm doing the best I can". I was told to like "watch" my way of thinking and maybe tell myself every now or then "These are just thoughts. It's better to do anything than nothing. It's okay" and also learning how to listen to my gut more, like what do I feel is the best choice and then like trust in my decision? I hope I'll be able to think that way all the time, it's probably more healthy, more content and less stressful. Maybe that helps you (or anyone else reading this) :)
