Los Angeles Lakers All-Star LeBron James said in an interview that winning the 2016 NBA Finals was the moment he realized he was the GOAT basketball player. LeBron James was apart of the NBA’s Greatest 75 Players of All-Time list which included the likes of Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Kobe Bryant, Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant and more. Marcellus Wiley & Emmanuel Acho discuss if the 2016 NBA Finals solidified LeBron as the GOAT.

Yep. I'm still waiting to see a single poll that has Lebron ahead of Jordan. Every single poll, it doesn't matter what era, the vast majority sees MJ as the goat. Baby Boomers, Gen X, Millennials all rank MJ as GOAT. When people are asked to pick, the vast majority select Jordan, whether it's players (both current and former), coaches, GMs, fans, etc., because Lebron hasn't been able to convince the eyes of the vast majority that he's better. In fact, he's actually convinced the eyes of the vast majority that he's not quite as good. Bird and Magic convinced the world they were the best up to that point with their play, Jordan convinced the world he's better than Bird and Magic with his play and the greatest of all time, but Lebron's been unable to convince the world he's better than Jordan.

All you have to rely on is old KZbin footage and the last dance documentary. As far as LeBron goes, I still rememeber him crying when Dirk beat him in the Finals. I rememeber when he missed a three pointer in game 6 against the spurs and if it wasn't for Ray Allen they would have lost. I remember kyrie Irving big three in game 7, winning the game for them. He is the best player in this generation for sure, but doesn't compare to MJ though. And if you bring up Paxson and Kerr shots, those weren't do or die games, as in of they miss they lose the series. They were up in both games. He wasn't bailed out like LeBron was. He beat a young thunder team and an out matched heat team too. Great he took advantage of weak competition. Not MJ level.

When he passed Jordan in 2017 on the all-time scoring-list with 1,200 less shot attempts, that closed the case. @@johnbates1552 this is gonna be long. Jordan will always be the goat cause of his finals record and individual awards. Voters actively vote against Lebron just to make sure he doesn’t catch jordan in awards. Lebron should have 10 mvps at least and they’ve kept him from the defensive player awards. Lebron has done more winning than any nba player ever he just has losses cause he’s literally played the best competition in the finals unlike Jordan. Lebron is better than Jordan but he will never be greater because of the active hate he gets from people who love Jordan and different era circumstances. I just call Lebron the best ever cause he’ll never be the goat sadly.

The problem with Lebron falling short of surpassing Michael Jordan is going to always falls back onto 2 three peats. You can’t present 10 finals unless you present 6 wins too. Team composition generally was always up to Lebron from the time he got to Miami but then he lost where he should’ve won so from then on, he had a lot of catching up to do and never really did. Just imagine he poached Anthony Davis and still only managed 1 while the roster basically looked how he wanted it to look.
@MrBezl
@MrBezl 2 жыл бұрын
I think there’s 3 reasons why Lebron isn’t the Goat and only 1 of them is his fault. Starting with his fault, the 2011 Finals. He disappeared after game 3 and lost a finals when he should have won. The 2nd is the 2015 finals when Kyrie and Love were injured and he lost. It’s my opinion that he would have won if they were healthy. Adding another ring and another back to back. And finally the 3rd is when Gasol stole his 1 chance of winning MVP and DPOY. That would put him on a list including MJ and a very small list (he deserves to be on). If you add those 3 together then he’s 6-4 in the finals and has the DPOY and MVP in the same year. Then his argument for GOAT is legitimate. Full disclosure, Bron’s my favorite player of all time, but I think MJ is still the GOAT

It's because LeBron fans keep moving the goal post when they compare LeBron and MJ. You can say that MJ is 6-0 in finals and Lebron is 4-6, MJ is the GOAT; they would MJ has more loses in the playoffs then LeBron. MJ fans will say that Mike went to the playoffs his rookie year and LeBron didn't make the playoff until his 3rd yr in the league, MJ is the GOAT; Lebron fans will move goal post again say that MJ had help from Scottie and had Phil as a coach and LeBron didn't have help like that. It just that fans of LeBron don't want to acknowledge LeBron's failures but are quick to highlight MJ's.

@@sirthomas00 Scottie and Phill Jackson argument falls flat because the Bulls lost three years in the playoffs with Scottie on the team. Phil Jackson was in puerto Rico.
