Kyle Knights sorry but Whitlock won this argument his argument isn't whether it's racism or not it's whether it will really affect LeBron and it won't affect LeBron
@BlackSheep7037 жыл бұрын
Im afraid not; his argument wasnt that it wasn't racism, but that it wasn't a big deal, and that it was a mild inconvenience for Lebron. This completely misses the point: Lebron wasn't looking for brownie points or sympathy he was asked about something that happened to him and he elaborated. Racism is akin to a cultural illness and both the forms of racism that Whitlock and Broussard talked about are symptoms of the same illness. The broader point that Lebron was making is that racism is still present, and wealth does not insulate you from it. Drawing a comparison between the experiences of LBJ and the average black person isnt appropriate, if I get punched in the face, I wouldn't expect to be told: "At least you werent killed". One is clearly more impactful than the other, but they are both morally reprehensible and reasons for concern.

Especially when this issue in particular hits home and is portrayed in difference of opinion by 3 black men on the show who the issue resonates moreso than Colin Cowherd. Yes Colin can be amongst 3 black men discussing a topic of race and racism in America but he may not want to speak on things he has no clue or experience with.

I know your comment was intended to portray levity/humor (to a degree) while conveying a certain point. But, in my experience, most white people, under 40, aren't racist. Yes, many of the white people in the older generations are indeed racist, there's no denying that. But, if African American's think that most white people are racist, that's just incorrect. (Well, I guess I can only speak for my particular region, Chicago. Young white people in the rural area's might be racist, I don't know.)
@mauricedavis17404 жыл бұрын
Marc Rover yeah you sound crazy saying that. I guess your speaking from your own experience but your wrong for sure. There are so many white people under 40 that are racist, go look at some of the platforms like “storm front” and you’ll see it for yourself. That’s just one of the many too..

Its not that he cant be affected by racism, but making a comparison of some hate-filled writing on your front gate to a 14 year old kid who was kidnapped and lynched for talking to a white women running a convenience store? The reason why Emmett Till's mother had an open casket (look up the photos - its terrible) is very different from what Lebron's experiences to say, "being black in America is tough." Lebron's life is significantly less tough than Emmett Till's. Its one thing to reference it as the start of the Civil Rights movement which continues on today, but dont make comparisons with your life and Emmett's, talking about how tough you both have it.

of course espn will always exist .. Whitlock is not going to last, he is going to start costing Collin viewers and then he will be shown the door. He is proving himself to be an idiot that will say anything for attention. Chris Broussard is clearly intellectually superior, I cannot believe Whitlock resorted to "it's my show," such statements just come across as desperate in an intellectual debate. How dare Whitlock make the claim that racism only affects poor people. How dare he say that someone writing the N word on Lebron's house is not racism. How dare he say this is not the type of racism that needs to be stamped out. Whitlock assertion or claims are simply illogical and make me lose respect for him.
@HakTunes7 жыл бұрын
Totally agree. Whitlock is a clown. He can't even sell this one. "An inconvenience"? We need the superstars to voice out against racism! What if Muhammad Ali, Bill Russell, Jim Brown, etc, said nothing? They were rich! They also got a pass! Hey Lard-Lover, when you get an individual pass due to your social or economic status ONLY, and others suffer because they have less...and you choose to ignore or try to justify it...That's called selling out!
