Hello Lee, you are bringing back some fond memories for me. I had a full C330 system way back when. My most significant memory is that it taught me how to see and compose. The upside down laterally reversed viewfinder overcomes the brains natural inclination to use the left hemisphere to Identify and label what you are seeing which moves you away from the right brains more spatial and aesthetically oriented functions. I was especially terrible at composition, like a duck out of water. After using the C330 for several years I came to a point of just seeing the composition and no longer agonizing over what to put in the frame.I attribute that to a actual rewiring and exercising of a part of my brain and perception which was under utilized,all because of this camera. FYI, I simply made a line on my centre column which corresponded to the rise needed to put the taking lens in proper position when needing the close focusing corrections. Just handheld filters in front of the taking lens not the best solution but usually good enough Thanks for your content, keep it coming😀👍

@@michaellong9526 Thankyou for your comment and watching glad you enjoyed this one. Great tip for the parallax problem 👍 I find the square format quite intuitive composition wise, so different to my 6x17 camera and a nice change now and then.

Great to see filter use on a TLR. I have my fathers old Yashica MAT, but have never tried filters! Maybe I'll try my Lee system 🙂

@@Adam-pm1cy Ideal, you just need a step up ring from the Yashica to the nearest thread diameter of you Lee adaptor ring and you’re good to go

I use an SQA and a Chroma 617 as my main MF film cameras and find the two formats complement each other very nicely. Like you I can switch between the two readily. I used a Mamiya C330 before switching to the Bronica and invested in screw in filters (yellow, orange and red) for B&W photography, much easier! I like the way you got around the ND Grad issue too - very inventive.

@@DaveInElland Thanks, yes I think the two formats compliment each other well. I’ve got some me magnetic red yellow and orange filters from Kase to try out now, will be doing a review on these soon

" nice exposed images Lee, the lenses are working well for you, not very professional, but on shorter exposures you could just hold your coloured filters up to the lens! Still thinking about medium format, the 330 looks a great manual camera, but also I'm drawn to an SQA/S2A type of body! I dont want to spend much🙂 so if I dont like the 6x6 format its no great loss! trying to stuff landscapes into a square must feel a bit constraining! after using your Croma 6x17. informative vids, keep em coming. cheers ,Kev

@@kevmoiz1718 It’s funny because the square format is so much different I find it quite a natural way to compose and because the both formats are so different to the standard 35mm format it makes me think about compositions more. In terms of the filters I’ve just got sent some magnetic BW filters from Kase so will be reviewing them soon. The SQA is a great camera by the way, had one for a few years although quite a bit more expensive than the C330

Love your videos. You explain using film brilliantly. I'm just starting with film and have a Canon AE1 ...not 100% sure how to focus...it seems to have 2 semi circles...how do I know when I'm focused...I think I may have half a film blurred lol

@@marlenehazlehurst8666 Thankyou Marlene really appreciate this. Yes that’s called a split image focus method, you basically focus the lens until the two halves meet

I use screw on filters on my c330.

Why are you using a step down? I use 2 CPL filters 46mm with a register mark painted on top of each filter. View the shot, rotate the cir. polarizing filter, adjust the other circular pol filter and shoot. You do too much flip flopping of filters.
@LeePengellyPhotography
@LeePengellyPhotography 2 ай бұрын
@@jameswaters5888 Its a step up, to marry up with my Kase system. I have grads and NDs and polarisers etc and only need an adaptor ring for each lens then. Circular screw on a fine for red, orange and NDs etc but I prefer the slot in grads. Plus I dont want to spend out on lots of circular filters

@ Interestimg comment. Firstly I don’t mislead anyone. Secondly it’s a well known fact that circular grad screw on filters add the gradient bang centre which doesn’t work, being an expert I thought you would know this. If you ‘hate’ videos like this don’t watch them….simple
