@Amalga4 жыл бұрын
An addition to the shield safety thing, for all aerials, the +/- on shield anticipates that the move hits your opponent's shield the frame before they land on the ground. This is why sometimes you're able to punish moves when they're not perfectly spaced, if DK hits B-Air on shield a few frames too high it can be possible to shield grab. Pac F-Air is another good example of this, it's -6 if he lands with it but it's -13 if he does it out of a short hop so it's not always safe
@moosemeep36944 жыл бұрын
Oh thanks thats good to know
@Phychologik4 жыл бұрын
Also just in case you didn't know -Up b out of shield takes an additional 2 frames to cancel shield- This is wrong. Up b actually has no extra lag. Jump oos (or in general) takes 3 frames. With this you can use other aerials and special moves as an out of shield option. -And up smash oos adds 3 as well.- also false :( For all your grounded options you must release shield (takes 11 frames I believe) before they are activated.
@Amalga4 жыл бұрын
@@Phychologik I thought they changed it in Ultimate so you can just do up-smash and up-B OoS instantly without jump cancelling, also I'm pretty sure G&W up-B is just a frame 3 move to begin with but everything else you said is mad useful

@@AmalgaYeah, sorry about that, I just checked and it is in fact frame 3. I have no idea where I got that from. And by jump canceling, I was just talking about using a fast non-upward special move like fox's shine or bowser's side-b out of shield. And yes. Up b and up smash have no additional lag. I'm getting a lot of mixed information. But I think this is right. Thanks for keeping my facts in check :)

8:05 regarding your explanation on "Safe on shield": The "minus on shield" value on ultimateframedata.com refers to the optimal hitting of the opponents shield the very frame before landing. Therefore, the actual "minus on shield" value is whatever the move is naturally minus/negativ on shield + however many frames the attacker has left to reach the ground and enter the landing animation. This is the reason why you want to hit the opponents shield as low as possible. I think this, at least, deserves to be mentioned to avoid confusion for players not too versed in Smash yet or players who haven't really considered those few extra frames. 2-3 Frames, because you hit the shield higher, can make all the difference regarding oos options of the opponent, after all.
@XastherReeD4 жыл бұрын
My comment is not about landing lag. It's about the extra frames it takes for your character to reach the ground and enter the landing lag animation. As I already wrote, the "minus on shield" applies if the attack on shield is the exact frame before the attacker lands, which is not always the case.

Good response. I was really annoyed by how Leffen just screamed FRAME DATA whenever you said "you can probably punish this." Frame data is important to mention, but he's the one spreading misinformation when saying DK BAir (for example) is unpunishable. -6/-7 is straight up punishable by some characters. Then, it's almost punishable by most of the cast, so only perfectly spaced BAir are safe. It's a big hitbox that DKs will throw out in neutral to cover many options. Inkling is another one that comes to mind after watching ESam vs Cosmos set. ESam shield grabbed inkling BAir -A TON-. So what, Cosmos is bad? No, ESam either messed up Cosmos' spacing, or Cosmos was trying to beat Pika's aerials in the aerial rather than shield pressure, making the BAir unsafe. He complained about you overgeneralizing, then kept saying "if the frame data says so, you can never punish this move" which is an even worse generalization. Thanks for the response summarizing his hard-to-watch video.

This is a really cool video. I'm really glad to see that you're taking this as a learning opportunity, rather than try to start a flame war lol

Now we have to have a collaboration video with you and Leffen, discussing what is an opinion and what is fact 😂

Good guy BananaBoy. Perfect example of how to respond to slightly incendiary critiques
