Froch is arguably one of the most underrated fighters in living memory. The reason for it is due to the optics. Froch looked sloppy at times and epically when defending. His foot work looked pretty poor, he was kinda sluggish and he just looked awkward. People just assumed he had a hard punch and steel chin and so were confused over how he was able to beat these guys. Froch had a granite chin and heavy hands ofc but his killer attribute was his timing. Timing beats speed all day long and when you add heavy hands and a good understanding of range along with endurance and grit to that, you end up with a Froch Once Froch figured out your timing, you were in trouble and this was why you only fight a guy like that once. It's where Groves made the mistake and Kessler cashed out. Ward was smart. He studied Froch and understood this so he devised a game plan to take away Froch's attributes and nick the win.

This was more Bute being overrated and needing to fight at home. Froch had problems with fast handed guys like Dirrell, Taylor, Kessler, and craftier guys like Ward. Calzaghe would have handled him easy. Great fighter but his assessment is fair.

Froch just walked through Bute, Froch has a great chin & Bute couldn't keep him off, he got brutalised !

Froch just handed him a real beating. I don't think fighters ever really come back from a beating like that. When Froch gets you in trouble he is very clinical, doesn't rush in. He's an assassin in those situations. Just watch him take his time against Jermaine Taylor in the 12th. You'd think it was the 5th round.
