Is anyone else around here also missing parallel raids? Like now, you had highmaul, then brf, then hfc. The end. In wrath, sure, you had naxx, then ulduar, then toc, then icc. But you also had malygos, that dragon tower thingy and wintergrasp, which were just smaller things you could do on the side as pugs, or in the case of 4drags, some real fucking good, yet optional challenge.

I think they should add keys back in but instead of opening up the actual raid it could open up a bonus wing/boss that rewards cosmetic and fun items and maybe a chance at bonus loot - but I would have that chance be small.
@fizman229 жыл бұрын
+Wowtcg12 That would be a great idea. Chest also! One thing WoW lost from WoTLK on slowly is authenticity, trading it for convenience. Feeling more like a dungeon crawler then an MMO. You come across a locked chest thinking "O snaps I wonder what's in there!" Usually garbage but you want to know, and you end up pulling an extra pack just to get to it. But wait your Rogue never leveled up lockpicking. I've made groups for Arcatraz, took about an hour to fill the group, we all fly out there to find out that none of us have the key....but wait your Rogue's lockpicking is maxed or you have a blacksmith that just needs to fly out to the nearest town and craft a key. Bare in mind though back then having any crafting profession maxed was rather impressive. Something else they might want to bring back btw since it was something to do work towards.

+fizman22 I think attunement, as shit as it was sometimes (haven't experienced it myself, but I've heard some stories about strenuous grinds), really got people out there doing things. It could come back in a lesser form, perhaps, where you have to do a quest chain to do this raid or whatever. No farming or anything, but... Something to DO. Maybe make it realm- or account-wide.
@fizman229 жыл бұрын
Shredded Cheese To do Karazhan you just had to do 4 dungeons, Arcatraz, Dark Portal, Shattered Halls, Steam Vault and Shadow Labs. Only on normal difficulty. You were going to want to do these regardless in order to gear up for Kara anyway. Issue was for alts down the stretch. To do Dark Portal you had to do Durneholde which wasn't a level 70 dungeon, and before that very drawn out quest before it where you just follow some dude around. Doing Durneholde to attune for Dark Portal was no big deal on your main since you probably did it while leveling, but chances are you didn't do it while leveling your ult, there were so many dungeons after all. That was very annoying. Any delays to getting attuned for Kara would be due to finding a group that could clear it back then. Now we have the Group Finder tool.

+Wowtcg12 Interesting idea, but... why cosmetic? I see this a lot, namely with people like Bellular where they suggest a really interesting idea to breathe life into the game, and then backpedal immediately by saying "It just rewards cosmetic stuff." Problem with that is very few people are going to do an entire wing or a boss just for cosmetic items. And "fun" items is very subjective and in danger of Blizzard's Fun Policing. You have to account for the fact that most players aren't going to do anything even remotely challenging without that carrot on the stick. The Tusks of Mannoroth were an item people mainly wanted for it's Transmog value, but it was still an actual item you could equip and reasonably use. With Transmogrification in place, there is no reason to have an item that is cosmetic only. If it's Moggable, it should be reasonable to use as an item itself within that expansion.

What worked ? TBC heroics, challenging, dropped BOJ, chance for an epic on the final boss with crafting item, dropped profession patterns and rep. dropped other items tied in with reps in specific ones. They need to stop catering content around insta queues. have 12 - 15 of them on release along with 2 - 3 new ones during the 2 - 2.5 year expansion life and people are happy. Instead of timeless isle or Tanaan which throw loot at you, have gear vendors like they did in TBC with the badges + the new 5mans, new patterns from the new raid(s) which give raiders a way to make money. Keep people challenged with 5man content and world content, but give them a reason to step up, learn their class better, learn the game better, or just to invest that extra time and into raiding. Bring back keys to unlock heroic/mythic (having 4 modes is fucking stupid now) which you can buy at revered, you can acquire rep by running normal mode. have rep vendors connected to the 5mans, that offer blues, epics, tabards, profession plans. Have quests in the heroics which connect to the raiding. Have people organizing groups, finding out the good players on their realm and progressing together. At the end of the day we are dreaming, Preach. They have lowered the bar so much they have no choice but to cater to the easymode instant now now audience they attracted. Which means they will burn through the easy and effortless content and get bored and sub numbers will plummet each and every quarter. They need to stop messing with raid numbers, moving from 10 + 25 to 20 fucked over so many guilds, if they switched to 15 it would be such a dick move from them. Raiding needs more content on release (not split and released 2 - 3 months later to spread out the small amount of content during an expansion like WOD). Bring back multiple options in the first tier, for the later tiers mix 5mans with them and new zones/zone content.

+Raz skive 1 - 2 hours ? snails pace ? t5 - t6 gear ? you were doing something (many things) wrong ... The only ones you would find yourself in for anywhere near one hour, would be Arcatraz and Shattered Halls. The others were easily done in 30mins with sensible players (and if you're doing heroics people would have done normal modes enough for revered in order to buy the heroic key that they should know the trash pulls and boss tactics), a tank that can tank, lead, mark quickly and giving people preassigned marks on the way to the instance. Once you had T4 , 5 or 6 gear everything only improved more. If you went in with a tank who wasn't def capped, couldn't use cds, couldn't pick up adds or hold threat. A healer who lacked healing or dps who were poor and derpy and players who generally were not up to scratch. I can see them taking a fair amount of time. But that was the beauty of the servers back then, no cross realm group stuff. You knew the good players, your friends knew good players, people would network and recommend.

+Richard Jones world buffs... 2 hours a week... i doubt they wouldn't have a way to have it up permanently. split runs are a thing... if something was to give u something as powerful as 20-30% more dmg than they would use it to the point of exploit. it's the world race, not a 'we need like 1 extra dps worth of dps here and can't spare a healer" not to mention if a boss requires an extremely high dps that is only doable currently with the "windfury world buff" but the kill itself requires RNG to go right... then you're essentially putting 1 guild farther by just rng which is even more RNG on the already bad warforged, gem, tertiary bullshit. them also having this buff furthers the gap between casual raiders and hardcore raiders and makes it more than just needing to do split runs but also needing to farm like 50 dungeons a week so you have all the buffs summonable on all your characters for your main to gain the buff. i like the raid atunement idea of doing all of the dungeons on mythic. it's like silver proving grounds but heroics but higher up. not too difficult to do but not silver proving grounds where all you have to do is basically auto-attack. i personally like 20 because 15 seems too... loose/tight... it's the whole 2/4/9 that's really annoying and the pugs can't stop rubbing their dicks off to the 2/4/9 idea. i would like more "cool" food. not stat food... felmouth is a dps gain for lots of people and melee could get a windfury food or something... just something that isn't FLAT STATS ALL THE TIME. flasks i wouldn't mind going away, or having the option to be flasked or use potions. world buffs i don't like the idea because it's "today is raid, i can't use that for anything else today or i will be fucking my guild over" plus the day/week long cooldown for those things is just silly. you already have your world buffs with the frostfire ridge shaman stones, and shadowmoon valley n'aaru stone. those give 100% multistrike, summons lava to damage stuff, and then you've your garrison ability. that's the correct option in my opinion instead of "you can use this once a raid and if you don't kill the boss good luck next week, oh the other guild actually killed it and doesn't need it for the next few bosses and has a week ahead of you now.. tough shit" the change of world buff+potions and on farm really would make ranking and logs be extremely skewed. you could be one of the best players in the world but still be like 30% because you didn't get to use the world buff on THAT boss.
@thephenome14629 жыл бұрын
Totally agree about the buffs/food/flasks, really would like to notice the effects of those. Attunements - hell yes, but with a tweak to your idea - I would like it, if you had to attune to every raid, IMO that could add a bit of an RPG element to it, for example - wanna do this raid? well, to get there you have to weaken the defenses of said palace or whatever (run dungeons or get rep), and only then can you even gain access to the place. Love the ideas you had about the dungeons, and I am all for changing up the amount of players in a dungeon. For raids, I think it should be a fixed number of players for each, with higher tiers (both in terms of gear and story) having more populated raids. Coordinating such raids would be a pain, but also - a good challenge. All in all, love the ideas you have, and looking forward to more of these videos!

Flasks and food are a gold sink and an exchange of economical value. With the massive inflation of gold in WoD, I wouldn't risk taking items out of the economy without considerable attention to detail. You also risk devaluing both related professions without revamping them more. I think the passive buff from class buffs and flasks are fine, they don't need to be interesting because the fights are already interesting enough. The whole flask lasting 1hour per day would just annoy the shit out of me especially when you don't have it available at the right times, sometimes you have a bad raid early on, you use the flask maybe because you get close once or twice but you get nothing out of it (progression speaking here) but the next hour after the buff, everyone in your raid is playing well but you don't get a kill because of DPS (imagine not having a flask for tyrant mythic when your DPS was pushed to the limit). If there was 1 huge issue with WoD raiding was that control over your characters DPS was extremely limited, don't make it more so.

I want them to remove the cache system and the pure RNG socket/WF system. I also want them to add some small cosmetic rewards for clearing Mythic while current similar to the rewards PvP players get each season. A special tabard, title, cape or enchant, anything like that would be awesome. It would not take much development time and it would be really nice because currently the only thing you get to show that you cleared Mythic while current is the feat of strength. I want something visual, I would find that very motivating. It feels bad to me to have nothing to show for all the effort aside from the achievement when the title and the gear become something that no longer means anything. It would be awesome if there were titles for the top 100, 500 and 1000 guilds each tier, similar to the titles in PvP.

I could see myself wearing awesome mythic gear, and just being disgusted that some scrub is wearing rags that look just as good as my gear from this lfr system. .. . . . .wow that kills some of the motivation in wow for the high tier player!
@RazanaArcclaw9 жыл бұрын
+moyga you mean a mount/title isent enough?
@moyga9 жыл бұрын
greenyoshi100 The title and mount are not removed after the content is no longer current so you don't get any visual reward to show that you completed the content while current which is what I was talking about in my original comment. Later on anyone can get the title for little to no effort. For example anyone can go and get the title for killing Lich King 25 man Heroic easily now, so the title "Light of Dawn" doesn't really mean anything anymore. It would be nice to at least have something to show what you achieved, given the amount of time and effort it takes. Also, most people won't get the mount even if they were there for the progression kill because only one mount drops each week so it takes 5 months to get 20 people the mount which means you would have to kill Mythic Archimonde at least 5 months before Legion comes out and then keep the exact same 20 people for that entire 5 months to have a 100 percent chance at getting the mount and theres almost 0 chance you will have the same 20 people for 5 months.

Greetings , first of all I would like to thank you for your time making those interesting topics about WoW (Lore , gameplay , visions etc.). I would like to add something abou , like as you mentioned , there would be mercaneries , which could stand up in Raids , Dungs , and be on the side of that dungeon/raid Boss , Fighting against the Raiders (either horde or alliance) it would be an whole new PvE , PvP expirience. So basicly , players would que up as attackers or defenders to the raid and to their objective. The defenders could gain bonus Honor , Gold , or certain faction reputation , on the opposite , the attackers would gain their Honor , Gold , Items/loot. Plus , the defenders could be mixed from both alliance and horde. Imagine fighting in Black Temple , a big PvP inside a raid , with mounts and stuff ( and controling bases for reinforcments) the attackers would summon the Aldor/Scryers , and the defenders would summon more Demons/fel orcs. Kind regards and keep on your AMAZING work !

I really like the idea of a buff that's tied to a specific classes role. Like maybe an assassination rogue gets a poison bomb that works like Smoke Bomb, but it covers the weapons of all raid members inside the cloud with your lethal poison, so they're all getting their own poison DoT damage, but as the assassination rogue, your deadly poison is proccing off of everyone else's poisons.

It would also be cool with some 5-man or group content outside the game. Remember Silithus? Many players farm some items individually, summon a boss, use the items that that boss drops to summon a bigger boss that takes a raid. Something like that could be cool, just to get people out and about in the world instead of just sitting around in the capital or garrison waiting for queues to pop. Flexing 5-mans is a really good idea and I don't get why they haven't done it yet. It's so annoying that the tank-healer-dps ratio in 5-mans is 1:1:3, but in raids it's everything from 2:3:5 to 2:10:18. The tank ratio in 5-mans is much higher than in raids which means fewer people who actually want to tank can do it. Compare that to vanilla where you often needed at least 3-4 geared tanks and a number of off-tanks who normally DPSed, but had to drop into tank mode for specific scenarios. 4 Horsemen was a terrible idea though.

@codyjensen91019 жыл бұрын
Hey Preach, it would be awesome if you read this and maybe brought it up in your next video =D So, This is just an idea/opinion. With Artifact weapons coming in legion i'm thinking it will make legendaries almost pointless. But i find the questing in WoD has been amazing (Story telling wise) I think they should get rid of legendaries all together. (No one like's the grind anyways lol and the legendaries are getting more boring each expac...wohoo a cape and ring...I feel so "Legendary" now -.- ")and bring a questline to get into raids I think it would work. Bring a new questline for each wing release. It would bring back the idea of "Keys" to get into the raids and rewards could be epic loot or Mats or even something for our new artifact weapons. I personally think this would be a great concept, bring a story into the raid, bring lore behind each character and a real reason to fight them. It would be great to know how all these characters got to be. What made them make the choices they've done.

I think a cool thing would be world event bosses and summonables, but rather than dungeon-based or guild-based items it could be zone-wide efforts and dynamically changing zones based on things happening (obviously these would have to be end-game zones because it would screw up later on when no one is in them). Imagine a warning goes out that a demon lord is opening a portal, suddenly there are things that people can do in order to contribute to stopping him and trapping him to be killed. Maybe a type of mob suddenly starts drops a reagent that brings down a shield and others which drop things which can be used to combine together and trap him. Upon successfully doing the dynamic event, people can fight and kill him with the chance of loot based on participation. However if people aren't successful he could summon demons to a part of the zone which would make it hard to do daily quests because mobs are suddenly elites (solo quests now need a group).

Rare drop crafting reagents like Righteous Orbs, that would be unique to specific types of mobs in certain instances, can keep dungeons relevant throughout an expansion. In vanilla, I remember even being in full Tier 2+, raiding Naxx 40, and if someone asked if anyone wanted to run living side of stratholme, we would have a group in no time. Dungeons with mythic difficulty levels, new mechanics, and raid level gear, mounts, or cosmetic bonuses would keep me going back. Make an epic tier set that comes from mythic dungeons, each last boss drops one of the set pieces, but make the dungeon difficult enough that it takes 1-2 hours to complete, and people have to pay attention to mechanics on pulls, use crowd control abilities, and focus specific mobs.

How about if LFD could balance the number of dps and healers to the number of tanks available and then scale the instance to match.... so if there's a 10:1 ratio of dps to tanks and 2:1 ratio of healers to tanks, you end up with a dungeon of 1 tank, 10 dps, and 2 healers and the dungeon scales so it doesn't put out too much damage but still has large health pools on bosses and such.

I think we're okay at Mythic 20. It's a decent, achievable number as WoD raiding has proven. In addition, with the increase in spell fidelity and flare, going back to 30-man raids would be sheer chaos. There's only so much you can ask of 30 people all bunched into a raid environment. Spacing, co-ordination, and movement would all be compromised to the detriment (I believe) of raid encounters. Certainly, you could alter the size of the boss rooms, but remember also that you're not altering the range of players' attacks, or the potency of their movement and abilities. As for the rest of raiding (Normal and Heroic) I think flexible raid member numbers is the only logical step forward. More and more, players have less time to spend on playing WoW, and are not so quick to commit 4hrs 3 times a week - as evidenced by the acceptance of LFR by even some of the most dedicated players of expansions past. Problems crop up, people falter, fail and forget. And we've all been there when the RL has 'called it' because numbers just aren't there. Flexible Raiding fixes this for everyone. Yes, Blizzard will have to work to balance 8-man EN against 30-man EN - but that is within their capability. Why not let a group of 7 friends take on the raid on the same night as a seperate guild anniversary celebration team creates two 30-man pug groups to do the same content? No-one is stopping Method from doing what they want to do. I agree that dungeons should play a bigger part in Legion, but they can not be unchanging day-in day-out. I do not care if there's a reagent reward at the end of the dungeon. I may do it, of course, but I won't enjoy it. And people not enjoying the dungeon experience is not a possibility that Blizzard can afford to entertain in Legion. I want the dungeons to change dynamically. At launch, a standard dungeon is fine. But one patch later I want to be CHASED through the dungeon by some of Gul'dan's assassins. The patch after that, I want to do something different... perhaps fight a new boss who has been sent in as reinforcement. Professions will get a boost, and you're probably right in thinking that dungeons will drop a certain item, but it they cannot be the only source of said item. That isn't inclusive design and does not fit in with the Artifact Philosophy of playing the game the way YOU enjoy it to advance. Instead, I believe harder content will be gated artificially according to the strength of a player's artifact. Got i860 Ashbringer? Great, you can craft this sword, enter that dungeon, and summon this world boss. The artifacts and their adaptive item levels are an excellent way for Blizzard to create a 'security clearance' for players for different kinds of content. I don't think buffs, flasks, pots, or food will go. They contribute to the economy, and to the success of the new professions push in Legion. You can't very well turn round and say "We're really giving professions a good go! Except for Alchemy, lol, fuck that shit! Oh, and Cooking... although #StormchopsFTW!" I understand that Alchemists could turn their hand to something else--the creation of some reagents for other professions, perhaps. Fel Ichor, or something--but likely the buffs will stay because they, food, flasks, and potions add to the game's economy, sense of fullness, fun, and things-to-do. Love these videos, and excited to see more of your thoughts regarding all of Legion's features and functions. :)

I like the Idea of bringing back dungeon sets. flexible dungeons sound interesting. I agree that a straightforward account wide attunement would be cool for the first tier of raiding, something simple like "Kill these X end dungeon bosses on Heroic". As for dungeons themselves, maybe completing one rewarded tokens (in your flexible paradigm 5 man could reward more than 6+) which can be turned in to your class hall for anything like Rep, crafting mats, Artifact weapon experience, Honor, gold, a cool mount, transmog gear or gold.

I'd have the starting gearing process start like this. Senarios (Replaces WoD Normals, gets you out of questing gear) Normal Dungeons (Equivalent of WoD Heroics) LFR (Has set bonuses unlike heroic dungeons. Starting ilvl gear is 5 ilvls above normal dungeons but final boss gives equivalent to Heroic dungeon boss gets you geared for normal raids.) Heroic Dungeons (Equivalent of WoD Mythics requires proving grounds gold to do lfd this is what gets you geared for Normal Raids) Mythic Dungeons (Brand new mechanics very difficult dungeons focused on raiders who wants to skip normal raids and start straight in heroics, has flexible 5 - 10M, weekly lockouts) I'd have 1 larger dungeon come out for every raid tier along with 3 - 4 dungeons that are more normal sized. (Would be nice to have a Karazhan remake that can only be done as a mythic dungeon only, yet if you wanted to keep the standard lvl 70 raid you'd just set it as a raid. that's what they should have done with the other remakes hehe).

My favourite iteration of dungeons was definately the Vanilla/TBC era and what I felt was the defining aspect of them that really enhanced my enjoyment was their size and scope. So many 5 mans these days are just corridors with bosses, and then anothe4 corridor to another boss. Scholo, Strat, UBRS, LBRS/Kara and the TBC instances with the focus on wings to accomplish the same feel, were all cool and interesting because not every run necessarily needed to proceed along the same railroaded route. You had side bosses, optional bosses/objectives and most importantly they felt involved, challenging and epic because they didnt take 5 minutes to obliterate with 0 skill. I havent subbed in a long time now because I no longer have the time to raid, but during the early times I could still sink hours and hours into doing small group content that was still a challenge to complete. If blizz could deliver that, Id be far more likely to resub. Just because the focus is 'end game content' does not mean that it needs to be 'raid content'. I agree and like everything youve put across in this video Preach, my only hope is that Blizz are thinking along the same lines. Casual content is easy, non commital content, its not rewarding enough to invest time for.

Good points. What I would do with dungeons is do item level scaling, no matter what gear people have. And then let it drop something like raid gear updates, as main thing. Would be nice to keep dungeon set gear also. That would make people go do dungeons and keep it relevant trough whole expansion, not like now or in MoP when you just stopm trough dungeons (I used to solo heroic dungeons in MoP in ret spec, and that was easy).

I like the idea of dungeon sets returning or putting back the tier sets on a vendor you earn with badge currency (with raiding allowing it to be acquired faster and dropping maybe slightly higher item level off tier pieces). I like FF14 gear model basically.
@icresp42639 жыл бұрын
A lot of people will probably disagree with me, but why are all dungeons the exact same difficulty? Why couldn't some dungeons be easier than others so we can work up to the harder ones. EG grimrail depot and Iron docks could be easier dungeons that have slightly worse gear, and dungeons like Shadowmoon burial grounds, Skyreach and Everbloom are harder dungeons, that you need higher level gear to do, and can work towards the tier .5 gear or something, but make it hard to get this tier gear. 5 mans could be a great place for players that aren't hardcore enough to mythic raiding, but still want difficulty, like a lot of LFR players nowadays.
@icresp42639 жыл бұрын
+iCresp I'd love to see a 5 man final boss stay undefeated for a week or so, have some really difficult ones, so that raiding isn't the only end game content
@hopper97609 жыл бұрын
+Mega Minx I see your point but what I would say is that the only reason Cmodes are challenging is due to the time limit itself. The actual content is exactly the same but with numbers tuned up, your numbers tuned down, and a time limit. I think what iCresp was saying and I tend to agree is that having boss's that are actually complicated or difficult would be a nice change of pace for 5 mans.

One thing I really miss is Vanilla/BC group buffs. I liked being in the melee group with an Enhancement Shaman that gave Windfury, a Feral Druid for 5% crit, a Warrior for Battle Shout a Survival Hunter for Agility just to buff that one Rogue with Glaives going ham. Or the tank group that had a Druid in Tree Form to give the + healing aura and having a Shadow Priest in the healer group to be a mana battery for them. It made all the classes feel unique and you felt useful to your raid when you were in there providing your unique buff (except me I was a rogue I only buff ME). I feel raiding would be much better off with that back. I really like your suggestion on the dungeons and world buffs too. It reminds me of when you used to go kill Onyxia and Nefarian for their buffs to make some progression easier. The way that UBRS, Strath and Scholo were where you could either do 5 man or bring up to 15/10 was pretty cool too.

Ideas. Changes to buffs. instead of just plain stam or haste make it different and a choice, priests can choose to give out a health regen buff or maybe a shield buff that works like leech, as you deal damage you build a shield to a certain cap. Shamans can choose to toss out windfury for melee or ranged. so now casters when they toss a spell have a chance to hurl another one just like multistrike. I would like to see food and flasks changed they are rather dull but I do enjoy having them. I'd like to see stuff like the felmouth frenzy we have now. its simple. it has a cool visual, its clear when it procs. I'd love to see food buffs come back that cause you to breath fire randomly as you are attacking or a flask that just causes you to do small ticking aoe damage like one of the old potions, I forget its name. You could even get runes in on this, have different runes give different effects. you could even change how food, flasks and rune buffs work. Make food about dps buffs, flasks about defensive. runes personal, you could have a rune that just gives you leech, its simple but effective, or a rune that causes you to apply a debuff to the target that causes others using that rune to just fire a beam at the target on proc, make the visual noticable and something people will comment about when everyone has it. What I'd like to see the most is a support role come up in the form of talents or glyphs, example. You are playing a sub rogue, you have access to a glyph that changes your find weakness debuff, its now effective to everyone but at a reduced effect, your rotation stays the same as you want to keep the debuff up at all times while helping everyone else out. these are just ideas, tweaking and what not would need to happen.

I think a great idea for dungeons would be like a split dungeon with horde vs alliance to race to fight the final boss. either side can have a player thwart the progress of the other group and set traps and all sorts of neat shit. it would need a lot of testing but i think it could be fantastic

I really like the idea of the Food/Flask/Pot changes. So with Flasks holding for 1 hour (at most plz) And Food/Pots being either of them but u cant take both Maybe give Food not Flat stats but something like chance to procc whatever (for example chance to procc firedmg for 5 seconds after u ate spicy food) and go with a duration "until you die" For Pots I think they should be 30 seconds and adding a burstboost "like 10-20% more dmg" This would be awesome For crafting food/flasks/pots I think their should be a variety how u can craft a recipy So that you dont need fish A x 5 and flesh B x 5 but u can either do fish A and flesh B or maybe u choose 2 times flesh or fish or different kinds of flesh/fish - crafting a different recipy which is giving the same buff Same for Flasks and Pots So you have a choice of what you want to farm (In this system the alchemist bonus had to be reworked, so that there is not a duration extension but maybe just a crafting bonus like there was before with the specs)

referring to the food/potion/flask buff; I'd like to see them somewhat combined. for example, and not including health/mana pots, I'd like to see maybe insta-use foods that can provide short term boosts that have specific uses for specific encounters or functions. or possibly a flask that takes 30 seconds to consume, but gives you a moderately strong buff that lasts an hour and has a 4 HR cooldown. make it so that cooking and alchemy are closely related or even merged into one job that gives generic buffs, powerful but short term buffs or long lasting, moderately powerful buffs that have specificity to specific encounters or raid/dungeon conditions. I'd also like to see a return to resistance gear, meaningful use of the 'elemental wheel', as it were or even +dmg to specific spell types. #tbcwasthebestexpansion

Turn food buffs into proc based buffs (think original windfury) and then have potions and elixirs share where you can't pop a potion if you have an elixir on. Elixirs give the sustained buff and potions do burst. That way you can still use food as well as alchemy.

What I think could be interesting is that whenever a raidlock is extended, loot gets added to the remaining bosses. Perhaps not all the loot you missed, maybe not even from the bosses you missed, but to give people more insentive to progress rather than clear 5/10 AGAIN. Not an expansion-making feature, but I'd still love to hear your thoughts on this.

Cheers for great vid as usual Preach. Couple of ideas nicked from ffxiv I'd like to see in wow to make pre-mades run smother: 1. Have a vote up system for people who really add value. You can only vote for 1 person per raid, and can't vote for the same person again. This would mean that you could see who is actually a well rounded player instead of relying on ilvls. 2. Have a self buff for healers / tanks that switches stats between healing and dps priorities. This would make it much more of a choice for people and would go a long way to cut down queue times, and would allow people more variety without having to grind 2 decent sets of gear to raid at a fairly decent level

I'd like to see the end boss of a 5 man, drop a quest, perhaps even a weekly quest to go someplace and do something/kill something. Maybe an NPC located somewhere near the end of a dungeon, where you go turn in regeants for something. Dropping mounts in 5 mans, absolutely increases the odd that they will be run again too.

What i want to see is the whole rift mechanic. Back when Wotlk was about to launch, necropolis showed up across the map, where you could kill the mobs and then get badges to turn in for stuff... sets and so forth that fit the theme. I still have a couple of those armor sets today.... It gave me great memories. :) Legion seems great for this. Breaches that happen across the world that you got to try and stop. Perhaps even with concequences if you dont.

I think it would be cool to have "Guild" Taverns (from Warcraft III) where your raid leader can hire a mercenary to help your guild raid. ie: you need some extra raid heals and hire a Goblin Alchemist, you need extra AoE DPS you hire a Naga Sea Witch, etc.

In FFXIV, the raids were 8 man, and I noticed that it made it so that each group in the guild was extremely clique-ish. I didn't talk to 90% of the people in the guild after that. I think that larger raids cause more guild interaction, so I agree with you that larger raids are better.
@Keilink9 жыл бұрын
There's good thoughts in what you exposed here, as usual :), but I can't agree about the modulation options between dungeons and raids. One of the major points why Warlords of Draenor sinked is because of the "flexibility" aspect of raids. We were raiding between 13 and 15 players most of the time, we cleaned HM contents rather easily but what completely ruined it is when you are forced to gather 20 people (comapred to WotLK) to continu your progress and reach Mythic, we tried several alliances which failed in less than a week. 70% of the cooworking guild members left, I'm not talking about changing course, they left the game litteraly. Recruitement wasn't better especially on a populated server. First sub stats were published during 6.1 if I remember correctly, and it confirmed our thoughts. There is huge flaws in making things more complicated with flexibility : ° 1 Raid designers clearly failed on Flex during WoD, it was ridiculous how hard some bosses were in 10man and how you could just stomp them with 30, even Archimond is a proof of that fact in 6.2. So having this option with dungeons to raids would be dramatic ... ° 2 When you allow flexibility you devide your player-base. FIX the number of players, make maybe one 10m raid like Kharazan TBC, but take a number for all your difficulties and KEEP IT. Like that you'll have a regular motion instead of having serveral little groups of players stuck because they don't have the effectif to get to the next tier, getting bored because the garrison is doing all the work, then leave. AlsotheloreofWoDwasreallycrapybutthat'sonlyme ._____.

To be honest after playing the new destiny expansion I had a few things I wished had somehow gotten to wow as well. Firstly some of the middle bosses have their encounters changed at random. So not all encounters are the same. Secondly they have a hidden weapon in one of the missions when it's the daily. That added a good reward for taking on a pretty huge load of extra challenge. Thirdly instead of just stats some weapons have a random special effect added to them. I could see smiths/scribes/enchanters being able to re-roll these If they aren't to your taste. Maybe even reverse engineer them potentially. Fourth daily bounties that give you something to do for additional rewards. That and harder weekly ones. I would imagine you would have to get into a group for this, not lfg. Outside of that some form of low ish drop rate special gear with high stats and a unique model. Long term rewards from many dungeon attempts. Not to mention repeatable individualy focused achievements for final boss encounters that give you something for going super hard. I think these would make dungeons more interesting and add long term reasons to keep doing them.

In the end, I think people just want lots of (varied) content. Raids are great and all, but they're not the only thing people will do. Dungeons are good too, battlegrounds, and so forth, but also teamwork activities in general. Working together with a group of people you know is a blast, but working together with a group of strangers -- many of whom you'll never meet at all -- is a great experience too. Not everything has to be solo or done with guildies. But make sure they have content too!
@NoahMullins9 жыл бұрын
Make dungeons of all difficulties scale according to the average ilvl of the players in the group. It would probably have to be a little more complicated than a straight average - make the tank's ilvl count for more than the DPS, or things like that. To compensate for gear becoming meaningless in this system the rewards for completing a dungeon also scale up according to the average ilvl. So a fully geared group of five players would end up getting more gold, or badges, or whatever by running the dungeon. The idea is to make sure that no matter which stage of the expansion we are at the difficulty of the dungeons remains the same. You can't outgear dungeons anymore. The different dungeon difficulties just mean that a mythic difficulty will always have mobs and bosses that will be, say, 30% more difficult than if that same group with the same ilvl was doing the heroic version.
@pijips1239 жыл бұрын
problem with that kind of scaling comes with the ability to cheese it with massively higher iLvl weapons/trinkets and setbonuses
@NoahMullins9 жыл бұрын
So just place limits. Can't increase rewards past a certain point.
@NoahMullins9 жыл бұрын
So don't make the limit too low. Or make the scaling non-linear. Basically you just have to make it so it can never get so high that it can be cheated, but never too low that it isn't worthwhile.

I generally don't like the buff idea, as it would freak people out and we'd have discussions along the lines of "of course they killed the boss before us, they cheesed it with that buff". But instead, you could have a buff, for instance, that would give increased drop chance for random trash loot or give an extra item for the next boss you kill while the buff is active (probably a usable item that you'd get from the worldboss then). This wouldn't affect balancing or guild competition, but guilds could use it for bosses on which they still need the most loot.

Something I thought of that might be nice that instead of a flat stat buff flasks could special effects like Windfury (the old additional attack windfury that is). A major part what makes the current flask system so boring and irrelevant is that the buffs more or less "invisible". I mean flasks are +200 for a stat for 2 hours and the free reuseble item you get from the tavern mission is +100 for 2 hours, either of those you don't really notice during gameplay as they're always "on" but if you had something that wouldn't even couldn't be always on it would get more intresting. Also if had buffs that weren't just raw stats there could more play with the flasks as you might want a flask that gives major brust for one boss and a flask that makes it easier to survive on another but you couldn't have both at the same time, however with just raw stats you never really have the need to think "which flask should I pick" it's always the one that serves your class and role the best and you always want that buff.

I would like to see lfr pretty much completely go, and have a bigger gap between normal and heroic like we've just seen with the normal nerfs so its easier to get into normal. And with that said, have the lfr be replaced with the 7man and 10man dungeons like Preacher was talking about, make it so all the raids would have be done through pre-made groups or just guild groups.

@Llian_C9 жыл бұрын
Rather then pasive buff's to dps stats I think it would be more interesting if your flask or food would buff different areas of survivability, magic damage reduction, physical damage reduction, movement speed, leach etc and then you'd choose the one appropreate to the fight. I enjoyed the simple choice in MoP that I could make on my priest with glyphs. Inner will for magic damage reduction (nice on a lot of fights) or inner fire for more physical protection (not bad on something like ji-kun where almost all unavoidable damage was physical).
@joshyman2219 жыл бұрын
Hey preach. Building on your idea of world buffs, I think what would be really cool is a guild buff. Right now if you complete the guild dungeon 'challenge' (7 dungeons in a guild group) your guild gets like 250g. Quit boring. I think a guild buff that lasts for the week after doing this would be great. It could also be gained from raiding, I.e. Killing one raid in current tier. This provides it as an alternative when you have a raid on farm. However, the dungeons, I think, need something for everyone. This could be basic JP, VP, some currency that buys a mount. Honestly the rewards for Apexis could fit in well. Just obviously not gained by those dailies. Adding a cap is necessary though

I would love to see them bring back long end game quest chains... that are not gated by time ala legendary quests, but I would ask they be account wide, being a raider on multiple characters makes it suck when I have to farm up all the old stuff to get them "raid ready". It's obvious they don't want to get rid of the instant gratification model. So why don't they just cut "Easy" and Hard mode into two different tiers? Leveling ---------- LFD Normal(current easy mode) >Level cap (end game quests and attunement for lfr) > Tier locked LFR ( recolored tier blues) | Premade normal (vanilla/BC) >Level cap (world quests and attunement quests for heroics) > (Heroic mode with a purple at he end) >Tiered raids Simple, and only one difficulty between tiers. Only one attunement to get into the required endgame stream required. Lfg has more trash, but easy bosses, Normal has less trash, but harder bosses.

I think short timed buffs as you reccomend could make raid balance far harder for Blizzard, while the thought that a buff for "that one you can't kill" is nice, I think the internet has proven it's laziness and many may be tempted to only progress with the buff active. I like the food/pot idea though, if anything it's just nice to have a decision to make before each encounter.

This kind of stuff has to get into the game somehow, I'm tired of only doing dungeons because "Oh cool I get 500 gold when tanks are needed" or things similar to that nature.

I'd like to see lfd gear people for lfr.. lfr and normal dungeons would then gear you for normal raids and heroic dungeons.. heroic dungeons and normal raids would gear you for mythic dungeons and heroic raids, and than mythic dungeons and heroic raids gear you for mythic raiding... that way, you could dive into raids and gear through raiding, but you could also use dungeons to gear for higher raids.. (note: lfd would be a lower dungeon quality than normals and heroic dungeons, like how lfr is lower than normal and heroic raiding). also, i'd like to see dungeons have wings inside the dungeon itself... and this is how i see it: lfd and normal would be in wing A, heroics would run you through wing B, and mythic dungeons would be a harder version of wing A and wing B combined (thus being longer, but wing A would be easier than wing B).... lfd could be 10 people... normals could be 5, heroics could be 7 and mythics could be somewhere around 7-10 man... as for buffs... i'd like to see them get rid of all the standard buffs that we have in every dungeon and raid (like you were mentioning), but instead add buffs like the had in the tier sets.. example would be having a warlock buff that gives a x% chance to drop a meteor out of the sky onto the target (stunning and/or damaging targets.. and i'd say that bosses should be effected by these stuns but only occasionally)... or maybe a hunter could could have a buff for a x% chance to call a wild beast out to attack the target for a while... maybe druids could have some kind of fae proc that has a fae dragon come out and cast a nice healing spell... i'd say proc buffs like these would be interesting... could have a raid wide cd for each proc (so you don't have 15 meteors falling out of the sky within 5 secs because everyone proc'd). maybe these buffs are only in effect during raids but are only on the specific class so you actually would actively look for a wide range of classes rather than just stacking 5 resto druids (example) cus they're the best healers or getting 9 fire mages cuz they have the best dps (again, example)... but rather you'd want to have 2 or 3 of each class (if possible) so that you have a higher chance of these buffs proc'ing. just something that makes "buffs" unique and fun rather than just "oh, i've got +10% stam on me all the time.. yay..

Mostly agree with what you've been saying for a while now, however. I'd really like blizz to do something with the garbage interface/means they have for finding a guild. As someone who can only really do early morning/super late night raiding with pugs it can be difficult to try to main a new class when you don't have 10+ ilevels above the current content. So I'd like to see something done there. Along with class identity. I'm really hoping that the class hubs will really bring back the feeling of being a rogue or whatever class you play. As someone who had to help multiple friends do the green fire quest when it launched *groans* it really gave a sense of "This guy's legit." feeling to it.

This was my idea.. You earn 1 grant per level you gain. Say I'm 101. I can then send that point I earned from my priest to my mage to make her level 101. But, I could also lvl my main AND mage up to 110 manually, and then have 20 account point I could then send off to another alt. Restrictions would be you could only use like 5 per week per account, in a 90 < x < 107 range, and NO Demonhunters. Penalties of this would be like... anything you make and sell can only be at the AH, and will sell for up to 5% less per boosted level, with it becoming completely account bound if you boost 17 lvls. And other penalties like all crafting mats become account bound for the boosted toon (if they're not soulbound like the Draenor CDs already) if you even boost ONE lvl. Next, say you boost 100 to 107, those last 3 lvls you have to grind, you'd only be getting a percentage of the xp offered (2% less xp per quest base per boosted lvl, heirlooms only offer 3% xp boost the moment you boost a lvl, and your guild perk gets nerfed for you only). And finally, they're there for you to use, but if you don't use them in WoWL, they go away forever, and there is no either/or cash in system (points can't be used to "buy" gold, for example). Obviously, this would be best for people with 5+ alts like I have (and for people who are just vehement about going through the same zones a 2nd+ time), and obviously, I don't have great ideas. But it just popped into my head, and it kept flowing. So I shared. Basically account wide RAF lvl granting.

+Preach Gaming You do realize that what u actually state about dungeons here is what they basically did with flex-normal-hc-mythic in raiding that everyone hates. You first do it at 10 man,then you move to 7 man when you are more confident,then go with your guildies-friends at 5 man. All that in the same instance. Making it flexible still means that there will be a certain number that will be best (Ex: Raiding 2-4-10,2-5-14 etc) and you just repeat the same content. Just add more instances as the patches go through. Then dungeons will be relevant (Like in wotlk adding dungeons in every patch) and you can still put a system like valor-points and the profession thingy you mentioned. Everyone is happy,you will do the same dungeons for 6 months,then you move on. People who wanna get gear will do so through dungeons (Making them drop slightly higher ilvl then lfr but with no set bonuses or so) , and even raiders will get to do them for materials.Safe,none gets burnt out,everyone is happy
@PerfectHighdra9 жыл бұрын
+Dimitris Gouv No the difference is that the encounter does not change at all. In flex when you have more people the bosses are adjusted accordingly. What he is saying is that the difficulty always remains the same.
@dimitrisgouv25549 жыл бұрын
And how does that change the fact that you do the same dungeon 15 times adding or removing 1-2-3-4-5 people?
@PerfectHighdra9 жыл бұрын
+Dimitris Gouv Because in his way there would be ONE difficulty. Instead of scaling the dungeon you would scale the number of players. This would help build confidence of newer players trying to find a 5-man capable group as well as lower que times for LFD dungeons without nerfing it into the ground.
@dimitrisgouv25549 жыл бұрын
In my book it's still the same cookie cutter recipe : Launch none has gear,do it safe as 10. You get some dungeon gear,you do it as 9,you get more and look into it at 8.Next patch hits,you do it as 7. and so on And if it's not as drastic as this,there is no point since everyone would just run it as 5 for more loots. So neither way works and it's just really utopic to believe it does.
@PerfectHighdra9 жыл бұрын
+Dimitris Gouv The point is to create a more social game. If you have to find players and create a party yourself you are more likely to party with those same people in the future. This new version of LFD will prepare people for what will be expected because it is the EXACT same dungeon. Also keep in mind for LFD the most limiting factor is generally always a tank. This means one tank can take care of 6-7 DPS ques at a time greatly increasing que times.

Blizz could do so much with this xpac, mini demon invasions on towns that got anyone in the area reguardless of level to fight and push them back. Just have a demon hunter npc or a dragon/titan give you a buff and on to slaying demons.

The buffs from different classes are still in the game to prevent class stacking.

Agree with most of this except for a minor issue with the "guild farm 5 dungeons to get a world buff". What about guilds that have separate raid teams? So Raid Team A farms the dungeons for their run but Raid Team B uses the buff before then.. Maybe if it was tied to specific characters that could be prevented but otherwise it's a setup for more Drama Time...

You know what I want for raid-attunement? Something that actually requires you to possess the skills required in raids. Wildstar did it right, attunement in that was a challenge. I feel that tying (a re-worked) challenge mode in with raid-attunement would be really good for WoW. Keep LFR and maybe even Normal accessible to everyone, gate HC+ via attunement. You might say "well, what's the point of that? Everyone who raids HC already has the skills to pay the bills", to which I say "poppycock!". I don't really care for 5+ player dungeons, though, I do very much enjoy the purity and personal responsibility of very-small-group activities. Heck, add 3 man dungeons! I would like more 6-14 player activities, but this should come on top of normal 5mans imo.

I'm not sure about "summonable" bosses, but I definitely want more world bosses and/or small raid instances (

I want to see crafting recipes incorporating old world materials. "What's that you made that blue and brown chest, red and white chest, and that purple pokadot chest with nothing but true iron ore and a hammer? horse shit!" use the true iron as a base then add some cobalt and bronze bars, khorium and white trillium, eternium and enchanted thorium etc. make the crafting make sense and a bit more interesting.

Stam buff as a tank, you do feel a diffrence. lets say unbuffed i was 500k hp. stam buff, plus flask and food i'd be 800k (just an example, not an actual count)
