You want a 11 second time slip. That’s easy, well depending where you live. Slap on a set of drag radials and skinny’s up front and I guarantee you will run in the 11.7-11.8 range with a good run. No power mods needed.

Alex, another great video, educational, informative and with guidance and direction. I appreciate how you 'get right to it' instead of adding 5 minutes of drivel and fluff to the beginning to add watch minutes. I also love how your sub count is exploding. I remember last year when it was around 1,200 and it's now taking off, I'm happy for you. You've got me exciting about my own AMG purchase I'm planning for this fall. It's more like 35hp. I should know, I did that mod and had a before and after dyno at the time. Why is it that people wo know nothing about a certain car model and it's upgradability comment on what he "thinks" you will or won't make. Unbelievable.
@houstonOLED
@houstonOLED 7 жыл бұрын
samspace81 besides the guy who just commented above saying you will get 35hp...VRP obviously isn't just going to lie about it. Why is it so hard to believe that throttle body change which by nature moderates air flow, could have a drastic increase in hp?

Subscribed. For a while now ive been looking into getting a V8, first it started off with a 2003 Audi RS6, but theyre holding their value really well. Then i thought about dropping a V8 into one of my cars but it was a nightmare and the cost far outweighed practicality of just outright owning a car that already has a V8 in it. The E55 is my best chance at owning a V8 as a daily driver, nice vid.

Best 7 things you can do with this car are 1: fit a larger inter cooler for the supercharger, 2: Split the cooling system, 3: Upgrade the intercooler pump, 4: Fit a 77mm clutched pulley, 5: Fit 550cc injectors, 6: Get a tune (Eurocharged, VRP, German Muscle etc etc), 7: 1 step colder plugs. That will give you the best price to performance ratio - assuming you do the work yourself you'd be into it for about $2,000 to $2,500. I went a little further with short headers and a 92mm throttle body but really the cost of those and having them fitted was not worth the gain. Oh and get the supercharger serviced as well. Great fucking car.

this is awesome man! I cant wait to hear about the parts discounts and giveaway. I'm ready to hit up vrp asap and get some ordered. My e55 is stock at the moment but i do monitor my iat temps with a cheap $20 elm327 obd2 bluetooth scanner and a cheap android phone that i leave in the ashtray in front of the shifter. you should so something similar to show us some real time temps and recovery times before and after pulls. lets just say since i got mine and watched the intake temps not having the split cooling i never even get on mine very often and just drive my truck on the hot days. keep up the badass video content!

"You really don't want that", yes, you do want it if you live anywhere the temperature drops close to 0 celsius at any part of the year. Guys, stop thinking that you know more than Mercedes engineers and stop believing everything that you read on the forums. There's a reason why the intercooler coolant and engine coolant are part of the same circuit. You start that engine up when it's -10 degrees celcius, now you have coolant that's at -10 degrees running through the intercooler which has a number of negative effects. It keeps the intake air too cold for too long, causing excessive fuel usage and worse engine emissions (which will in turn wear out the catalytics faster). Two, it puts stress on the engine and supercharger (since the intercooler is touching both) by keeping them both colder for longer and not allowing them to quickly reach operating temperature (remember the thermostat is closed at this point in order to allow the engine to reach operating temperature). By putting them on the same circuit, it allows the cold intercooler coolant to warm up more quickly thereby minimizing the wear and tear on the engine components when being driven in colder climates and improves gas mileage and emissions.

You should put “altdriver.com as a complete URL in the description so it can be tapped/clicked on, as it is on my phone I can’t click it to go to the site nor copy the text because of how the KZbin app works

How important do you think serious cooling mods are right off the bat? Like if I want to do a mild street build (intake, pulley, tune, exhaust) how necessary is doing the bigger HE pump and new HE, belt wrap, etc

Does the VRP underhood tank have a pickup tube inside of it? Pics on the site seem to imply no, your video seems to imply yes. Without a pickup tube, they will suck air on hard uphill pulls and have crazy high AITs. If it does have a tube, let me know how to get the subscriber discount@!

VRP says yes. Someone on the E55 facebook group had mentioned that as well so I appreciate you looking out. I honestly didn't think of that just yet. Alex

Damn, wish I had gotten one of these. I bought a Infiniti G37s, it isn't as much of a beast. I did consider a S4, which would have been cool.

I recently purchased an '03 S55 amg 1 owner, 93k miles. Definitely planning on doing some subtle mods such as the ones you mentioned in your video. How different is the E55 from the s55? Do they have similar cooling issues? Can I make similar gains by doing the same mods you mentioned? Im new to these AMG cars so forgive my ignorance!
@LegitStreetCars
@LegitStreetCars 6 жыл бұрын
As far as engine and transmission they are basically identical. You can do almost all the same mods. They don't have cooling issues with the engine. The water to air intercooler system isn't the best but you can help that with a larger heat exchanger and free flowing exhaust. Alex

Hi From Australia, love your work Mate. Is the E55 fitted with LSD standard? Iam still trying to work out weather to C63 or E55. Both cost way more in Australia. What’s you pick? Thx for any help.

What's the difference between the 03 and 01 e55? There's one close by to me for sale for a good price at $3900 and only 145,000 miles. It looks like its really well taken care of, anything to look at specifically on the 01 vs the 03?
