I am convinced that this recording occupies an important place in the interpretation of Rachmaninoff. From 1936 onwards, during and immediately after the war, the Japan Radio Symphony Orchestra (post-war NHK Symphony Orchestra) was trained in European style playing by Josef Rosenstock. After the war it blossomed. Leonid Kreutzer taught piano and music at Japanese universities from 1931 onwards. It goes without saying that his purely German Romantic interpretative method had a profound influence on Japanese pianism. He fled the persecution of Nazism and spent his life in Japan. This acetate disc is thought to be a record of NHK's live broadcast one year before his death. There is some pitch oscillation due to the eccentricity of the acetate disc, but it is felt to be a very moving performance. Thank you for uploading.
