Lesley, thank you so much for this original workout. I've had the book "Return To Life" from Joseph Pilates for years, but it's important to see the full body classic mat work in a video sequence. And yes, It's tailored to do it in 30 minutes. This is how I learned it 14 years ago here in Spain. And with your spirit, it's always enriching. 💖 Greetings from the Canary Islands/Spain.

Thank you for this. I was looking to get back into pilates for core strength (in the past when I was doing a couple sessions a week religiously it was the only time I could do a triple pirouette without falling out of it so it really works!) and I didnt realize most online classes did not do classical pilates anymore - I started classes only to find out half way though they started doing yoga or other things in the middle which is NOT what I was looking for. Anyway thank you for this! Just what I needed and was searching for. I guess from now on I have to look for classical pilates. Its the WAY

I do have a question, some of my students do have some difficulty to round their backs to do rolling like a ball, they just, bump their back plane into the floor…what kind of feedback or exercise could I give them to practice to evolve into the C curve , and do it correctly??? Thank you so much for your feedbacks, they actually been a huge help for me. 🙏
@OnlinePilatesClasses Жыл бұрын
Hey Ana, without seeing them move or their set up my guess is they are over rounding their upper back with their shoulders and under rounding their lower back. That can be due to tightness or weak abdominals or both. Something to have them consider is that its less about going "back" and more about getting the hips up. xx~LL ps I'll go live about this in the future Sunday 9am PT and dive in deeper.

Hip clicks during single leg circles. Where can I learn more?
@OnlinePilatesClasses Жыл бұрын
Hey Anne, thank you so much for sharing! We actually have several videos on here and I have a workshop on onlinepilatesclasses.com Check out my video for Single Leg Circles with a Magic circle. Also, if you search my channel for "hip clicks" I've got a couple other lives I did on this channel. And then my Thass® workshop will help you. A hip click means you are hiking your hip during the circles and using more hip flexors than hamstrings and glutes. So you can do ovals. And not circle all the way up. And then make sure you take advantage of the glute strength in Single Leg Kick and Shoulder Bridge. Feel free to chat with my team at opc.me/chat if you can't find what you're looking for. xx~LL

@OnlinePilatesClasses Жыл бұрын
Hey Aline, Pilates is low impact so that is ok that you didn't feel like it had so much impact on your body. Also, its a practice, I just taught this class in person to some people who have done it for 20 years and its so cool how its get harder but continues to stay possible. Yes, the pace is zesty. But the Mat order isn't meant to take a full hour. Its meant to move. The reason is you want your smaller muscles to join the party and not go too slow that your bigger muscles do the work. xx~LL
@alinekuehn4249 Жыл бұрын
Thanks Lesley for your response, I do also lots of barre and Pilates (not your classical versions probably) which does give me that burn. I'll for sure do a few more classes on your channel and see how I feel. Thanks!
@OnlinePilatesClasses Жыл бұрын
@@alinekuehn4249 ah gotcha! Ok, so the "burn" feeling it happens occasionally in Pilates but not in every exercise. I found the more connected I got the more I felt that. But, also, the burn isn't a sign of a good workout or even a hard workout. The barrel work you're doing is great! It will help you find more connections on the mat work. The mat work is easy to do the choreography but not have the connections. So, def keep it up! And, also, because you're doing less than 8 reps in this workout sometimes less than 5 you likley won't have the burn. maybe in Side kicks. If you're an OPC member you can send in video of you doing an exercise to get feedback on your form xx~LL

And if you're an OPC member I can look at your form on the exercise you're feeling that click and provide some personalized feedback. xx~LL

Not enough time in each pose and not enough focus on breathing for me
@OnlinePilatesClassesАй бұрын
Hey Jessie, thanks for the feedback. This is a full classical mat class which means if you're doing the full order you're aiming for 3 maybe 5 reps of each exercise because you're focusing on quality not quantity. However, if you're skipping any exercises you can replace them with others you can do and get more reps in. This will build your practice up. As far as breath goes, too often people get bogged down by the breath. Joseph Pilates wanted to make sure you exhaled. But, he actually didn't do a lot of focus on the inhale. At OPC sometimes I will do a theme where the breath is the focus so that people can explore how it can help. If you're not holding your breath you're doing it right :) xx~LL
