Just thought I'd point out our guy 'Crystal Steve' and Fana are not siblings, it's a common misconception since these backstories have this awful red filter over them making it hard to tell differences in hair, skin, and eye color. Honestly this is a fun way to recap the series and I am greatly enjoying this so far, looking forward to pt 3.

I'm not saying your wrong about the anti-magic being why it's heavy, I'm just saying I interpret the scene differently than you. To me it's heavy and also it absorbs magic, two different things. I'm sorry if I seemed rude or like I was talking down to you. At the end of the day we just see it differently and that's ok.

The way I've heard it is that what often surprises other wizards when it comes to Astas physique is that all his speed and strength comes from his own body it is not that he is supplementing it with magic or using some sort of reinforcement magic. In a world where magic is so common for day to day work and battles are fought with fireballs and lightning someone training to peak human levels just seems unnecessary as they focus more on training your wizarding skills and reaction speed.

You're right. It's kinda like Megalo box where essentially technology is so advanced that athletes use it during sports instead of relying solely on their body and the idea to win a competition by physical ability alone is so crazy and unheard of that the only reason the main character does it is because he has no other choice since he can't afford the technology that theses competitions are actually just over the top advertising for. The concept of an athlete training his body to its peak and relying on it and his own abilities is just as shocking to its society as a boy who doesn't use magic to be good at fighting is in a world so ruled by magic that even the most basic functions are somehow magically enhanced.

That's the thing about this show. It plays so many standard shounen tropes straight and yet it constantly explores new ground while still maintaining that overall vibe. Between Asta actually accomplishing his goals through hard work, the chars being surprisingly deep, the char and power development happening quite often, it has a more competent and complex world than you'd ever think. And as an added bonus, there's hardly any actual filler, the training arcs aren't crazy long, and the fights constantly one up themselves every time. Although I say that, the fights themselves don't exactly grow in scale, instead, quite often, they test the protags in new ways. Trust me, there's a lot to unpack here, so I'll just let the show do the talking. Edit: And unlike shows like Fairy Tail or Naruto, in this one, when the characters say they'd do anything to protect their friends, they actually mean it. When someone is punking a Bull, the others immediately drop everything and come to their friend's rescue

@@ItzSailorChaos In Fairy Tail, yes, the characters are very accepting, but whenever an obstacle arises, it's either dealt with individually with little actual teamwork involved. And when the guild members aren't fighting someone else, they're constantly butting heads with each other. Compared to the Black Bulls, who, in any given conflict fill a certain role to ensure smooth teamwork. And sure, the Bulls can be rough with each other, but we've seen that they have more to their relationships than a one dimensional rivalry, or flirting, etc. Plus, I don't think I saw one scene in Fairy Tail where a friend was being hurt, and the whole guild showed up to flash their 'guns', like in the Royal Knights Selection

PLEASE DO A PART 3 I really loved this anime more than any other! I just can't stop thinking about it, AND THE OPENINGS ARE BANGERS LIKE COME ON, YOU HAVE TO ADMIT THAT! I usually watch the dub version because I can't read the subtitles fast enough (and I'm dyslexic). But I did try to! Regardless of sub or dub, it's still an awesome anime (Fun fact,captain Yami's dub voice actor use to voice piccolo from dragon ball z/super)

BC usually plays with tropes pretty well. Even some annoying early stuff gets worked on later in the series. Hm, the fan service stays, but tbf, it does hit the guys too. I like the social commentary too - it hits hard without getting too depressing. Mashle does this too.

Dope vid. Yuno and Asta's rivalry is pretty healthy, and mad refreshing and its good to see them grow. And as as a heads up Noelle functions as the main heroine/tritagonist (you'll see as the series progresses) In an older interview Tabata (mangaka) stated that he wrote her so that she could function as her own protagonist which is pretty cool to see/hear.

This series being considered "generic" mostly applies to the beginning when it first came out and in the first Arc everyone hated it cause Asta was loud and the story seemed very uninspired. However, it really drops this stigma from the next few arcs. So while it is simple and amazing, the most people who call it generic are usually people who dropped it at Arc 1

Y'know, I never analyzed the scenes in this arc that much, despite how many times I rewatched and reread it. Like, I gathered certain things, but I never delved as deep as you did into questioning what Lotus was saying about their situation in the Diamond Kingdom. So now I'm personally questioning whether or not I missed other hints of sorts. I'm really loving these videos. Not only is it bringing things I initially missed to my attention, but it's also putting into words the many reasons why I love this show. black clover's strongest point is it's character dynamics and it's pacing. in all 170 episode and where manga currently, it never slows down and always keep going, never entering an unnecesssarily long arcs or arcs with less importance, every arc contributes to both character and story progression a ton and it's fun to watch
