Dear Clancy 😇 I just wanted to say that you're one of the kindest, most pure souls I have seen on KZbin. Maybe that's the reason I haven't missed a video of yours for the last 4 years. Not to mention how many times you and Zac have made me cry laugh 😅 I can not express how close I feel like I'm with you and how much happiness and health I wish for your whole family from the bottom of my heart. I love and adore all of you: your mom, your dad, your brother. I'm sending you many hugs and I can't wait to be with you for the most amazing journey of your life 💕

@6:34 Clancy, as you say, everyone is different. When I had my first C-section at 19, the nurse told me, " As soon as the epidural wears off, GET UP OUT OF THAT BED and walk around your room, take the baby with you and walk up and down the halls." I did exactly what she said. Never had any soreness or pain. Granted, my doc told me no strenuous exercise, no heavy lifting, and limit stair climbing to a minimum. But when talking with other women who had vaginal births, I was far better off with my recovery/healing than many of them.

I gave birth 6 months ago and was induced at 38+5 weeks because of high blood pressure and even though it was unexpected my birth experience was so positive and everything ended up OK. My plan going in was "stay alive and feel no pain" and my doctors were good at doing both for me lol. I was like you and put a lot of trust into my medical team and they were nothing but great to me!

Correct breathing during labor helped me a lot! There was much less pain with proper breathing. I just watched labor breathing technique videos here on KZbin a few weeks before giving birth. And it helped A LOT! I have been in labor twice and the second time with correct breathing technique it was so much more bearable.

Advice that I wish I heard sooner while pumping and breastfeeding... Remember your feeding a baby and not a freezer. I.e. dont worry or stress about building a freezer stash! Also if your planning to pump or try pumping buy a pumping bra now. They have bras for both pumping and nursing in one!

Best hack my mom taught me that I tell everyone is to NOT spend money on burp cloths! They’re usually cute and decorated but the purpose is to catch spit up SO buy the packs of Gerber Cloth Diapers! Use them as burp cloths! They’re absorbent, cheap and white so you can bleach them! So excited for you! My daughter lives in Florida (I’m in PA). She recently got engaged, bought their first home and we are starting to wedding dress shop! At 44 I’m not quite ready to be a Grammy yet but I’ll live vicariously through your videos and maybe in 2/3 years I’ll be ready lol (my daughter is 27 and fiancé is 29 so I know I don’t have a say in that though lol)

Clancy, my first pregnancy (daughter), my water broke at 7am, which woke me up from sleep. I was 1 week early from my due date. I went to the hospital and had an epidural, vaginal birth. From water breaking to baby in my arms was about 20 hours, i received the epidural around 5cm dialated. My second pregnancy (son), my blood pressure, was high in the 3rd trimester. My doctors were keeping it closely monitored. I was at work at 38 weeks and just felt off, so I checked my BP on my lunch break. After calling my OB, they told me to come to the hospital for monitoring and to pack a bag because i might not be coming home until the baby arrived. I ended up being induced once i got to the hospital. It took around 22 hours from arriving at the hospital to the baby in my arms.

You’re young and in good shape, either way you will be & look great! 🩷💙 I think he’s going to come close to his due date! You haven’t dropped yet (in this vlog). I think he’s going to come a week or less early! I had my baby 3 weeks early, due to high blood pressure. Just went in for my 37 week check up and sent me to the hospital for blood pressure monitoring and they decided to just induce me for the safety of myself and the baby. After 2 days of being in the hospital and no progression, they decided to do a c-section. He was born 6.7lbs and he was perfect! ❤️ With that being said, have your hospital bag ready, because like myself I had no idea I was going to be having the baby. 😆 luckily we lived close and had dad run home to grab items for myself and the baby. 💓 You’ve got this Mama! 🙌🏻🙏🏻💐

I’m in Canada our maternity leave is federal we get 12-months or 18-months you pick. Now you get the same total amount on either choice it’s just distributed differently the income you get is a % of your income. Plus lots of jobs also offer maternity leave/income support a lot of those people do 18-months. The first 6-weeks are “recovery” after that dad/other parent can take time off but you can’t both be off. Even adopting you get the same benefits even if the child is a teenager. If you work for yourself you can pay into taxes monthly/yearly and get the maternity leave

I’m not sure why there seems to be a dismissive attitude toward preparing for labor, but there is so much you can do that can actually make a difference! For example, you can help your cervix open in the weeks leading up to labor. Activities like walking a lot, triggering Braxton Hicks contractions, doing ball exercises, and eating or drinking certain things can all make a difference in how long you’re in labor. I prepared my body, and I was only in labor for a few hours and pushed for just 30 minutes-all because I helped my cervix open on my own before labor.

Hearing how much maternity leave Americans do not get makes me so glad I declined moving there. In Aus you get a mandatory 18 weeks government approved leave. or 1 year if you are willing to take half pay to extend the leave. This is also not company dependent but government mandated some companies are more flexible.

I had to be induced at 40 wks and 4 days with my oldest cause I wasn’t dilated at all and my OB didn’t want me going to far past my due date. I’ll guess early October. I feel like all first time moms think labor will come early and it doesn’t. Second thought, I had one induction, one I went into labor on my own. All I’ll say is if you are induced get an epidural as soon as they will let you. The intensity of the contractions in an induction was way different than natural ones. Also once I got an epidural my labor went way faster. I think because it let my body relax. Just my experience as you said you like reading them. Both times I ended up with healthy baby boys. Whatever gets baby here healthy works.

In my opinion, if you don’t trust your doctor, you need a different doctor. I fully trusted all the midwives I saw in pregnancy. My hospital had a group of midwife nurse practitioners that deliver most babies and every single one was wonderful. They wanted me to deliver at 39 weeks because I was high risk so I was induced and delivered. It was not about convenience of scheduling or making more money, as some would say. The midwives had a rotating 24 hour schedule at the hospital. One of them was there at all times.

My son came just a few days before my due date, but it was due to health. My blood pressure was super high, and I ended up having to be induced and had a c-section. I was so nervous and anxious, and I think that impacted my blood pressure. I think my baby would have been on time or even late if it weren’t for the high blood pressure. The first baby is usually late or on time or at least that’s been the case for the people I’ve known unless there are some underlying issues. So, I don’t think yours will come early. That being said, like you said, babies will come when they want. So, what do I know? 😂

I’m so excited for you Clancy! I had my son in December of 2022! I did a traditional hospital labor and I had such a great experience I’m almost scared to try again because there is just no way it could go as perfect as it did the first time! Hahaha. The worst part for me was tearing I had a stage 4 tear so it took quite some time to heal which wasn’t fun with a newborn but with all that being said I’m starting to feel like I do want to do it all over again. Us woman are crazy lol

Clancy, do you think it might help to sleep in the baby nursing recliner to keep the reflux at bay? I can't wait to see this little human. Lots of luck we're all rooting for you. Due Sept 26th! 🤩👣❤
