One thing I found EXTREMELY helpful with that boss fight is that if you stay to the very right or left of that area, the spiked platforms will be unable to touch you, so if you stay at the opposite side of the laser you get some much needed breathing room :)

The Death Egg has a special area that filters out the liquid nitrogen in space,combine it with carbon dioxide,oxygen,hydrogen,and helium.It combines it all in the air vents and that's what is keeping Sonic and Robotnik alive.And if Sonic was a robot,he would be Metal Sonic from Sonic CD,Sonic 4 Episode II,and Sonic Heroes.

I found an even bigger short cut, those fans that you got hit by at the beginning if you had your bubble shield on then go get purposely hit by the fans then whilst sonic is still flashing you can jump past the fans cuts out a lot.

Also, did you know you can get crushed by another monitor ( 2:36 through your video, you can get crushed by the first ring monitor of the three "floating" trio of monitors )? I even tested it out ( with knuckles ) that you can get crushed by the falling computer while you're invisible! lol

Y'know, just by happenstance I've been playing Sonic Classic Collection on DS, and it looks like the hitboxes on the platforms' spikes are actually bigger on that. There's also a layering error where Sonic is behind the panels he's supposed to be holding onto. But yeah, the laser robot sucks even more when you can barely get on the platforms and your rings all explode up through the ceiling whenever you get hit. It's not great.

I didn't even realize I just did this level backwards. Instead of taking the route with the bars and platforms underneath the rocket burners, I managed to jump up to the level you're supposed to go left on to avoid the propellers (I was going right)... then when I reached the propellers I went right through them with the damage invincibility time. Made the level a lot shorter and easier :P

a trick I learned how to get across as Super Sonic at the fan. 1. at 1:06 instead of going that way, I would back track to the platform 1:00 with all the rings 2. once u landed on that platform 1:00 collect the rings and u should see a propeller jump and it should levitate u up 1:40 3. once u landed be careful of the clucker and walk to your right 1:40 4. if u have 50 rings u can turn super sonic and talk right through the fans at 1:23
