My grandfather was a rockhound & he had an amazing shop with a rock tumbler, like you mentioned. He made beautiful jewelry & I would spend hours with him polishing rocks & making child size jewelry. I always left his house with a bag of beautiful rocks & a new piece of jewelry. I still have a couple beautiful opal rings that I absolutely treasure! xo

George, I love your videos so, so much. Keep up the great work! One of my best musical experiences ever was when I got to watch Elvis Costello do a sound check at Memorial Stadium in Seattle during Bumbershoot. My husband worked for One Reel, the production company, so my toddler and I happened to be in the stadium during his 5 song sound check. It felt like he was playing just for us. It was pure magic.

Oh, fun! It's so cool to be alone with a serious musician during soundcheck. I've been to Bumbershoot several times but I didn't get to see him. I did see the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Sonic Youth there, and I was surprised what a good entertainer Sheryl Crow was

My dad was an antique auctioneer and ran Pleasant Valley Auction Co. for over 30 years. He and I used to get out and go looking for cool stuff to resale. We would have a yard sale on the free weekend. We would buy pallets of stuff! He had his real estate license and we would sell estates. Lots of people would call us to come look at certain pieces or what was left after the family got their stuff. We were going through a house and he told me to grab 2 pictures in icky black frames that had been on that back porch for years. As soon as we got in the truck my dad told me "go to the house." I went home and we got inside and he told me to get "eric" on the line. He was in FL and bought/sold famous people merchandise. I got Eric on the phone and told him J R wants you. I gave the phone to daddy and went out to start unloading our stuff. Daddy came out in a few minutes and said we just got $3800.00. I'm like why we don't have anything he would want. He handed me the 2 icky pictures (2" ×3"). He asked if I knew what they were....I told him I didn't but I know we paid $3.50 for the pair. He says That's Shoeless Joe Jackson and his pics are rare and we had one with just him and one with the team. I looked and said Daddy he has his shoes on. Daddy told me the story on the way to eat! We went to the Anderson SC Flea Mkt. just up from our home. I took $1200.00 and God only knows how much Daddy had. Well he found this ugly kids toy and he had used all his cash. He borrowed $400.00 from me. We had to get back home that Saturday because we had an auction that night. On the way home he looked over and says now I'll give you that $400 when we get home or you can wait until I sell it tonight and I'll give you your $400.00 and we'll split the profit. ( Now he could make money just effortlessly, he knew antiques and collectables so well)! I told him no because I'm gonna see you lose tonight you already know but I was not losing my money!!!! I kept his front books meaning I sat right beside him....well he put that ride toy up and when he dropped the gavel on it at $1750.00 I wanted to die. And....when he said sold he says "you should have listened to your daddy....that train is gone.....sold # 85. My daddy was a nut but a great auctioneer and like I said he made money left and right. I miss him more than anyone can imagine...He died at 57 years old.

Hi George, just an FYI, that label is actually a misleading label and that is not genuine murano glass. It translates to "Glass made according to the techniques of the masters of Murano" Meaning it was maybe made somewhere in italy but not on murano by the masters there.
@TheAntiqueNomad2 жыл бұрын
I'm becoming aware that is their workaround! I appreciate your info. There is far too much fakery with Murano these days, it will kill collector interest in the category if they aren't careful

I really wish you luck! See every person who views this is going to believe they can make money on ebay, well, youll make ebay moneg, and they will pay you fifty cents, every twelve dollars, plus, all the competition, IE; these many gullible people, so that makes your item value go down, way way down, and ebay takes what little you will earn. Good luck, suckers!
@TheAntiqueNomad2 жыл бұрын
I will take "I wish you luck" at that! Clearly you are having issues with eBay, and I realize a lot of people are. eBay is charging more and becoming more complicated, but it also is the giant antique/vintage marketplace for the world, so finding a way to make it work for as many people as possible is the best thing I can think of to do. As for the competition, have the best one, the cheapest one or the only one. That will take care of the value of your item going down.
