I'm confused. They said chun li is a lot faster, stronger and skilful. They even confirmed that she even knew some fake outs from mai. But she still lost because mai's fire power was better? Hell. They also calculated some of their moves wrong. If a Kikosho can blow up a street (comics) I thought mai had no chance of dodging that. Oh well.

Yeah, others apparently feel the same way (and I feel with more validity than with a lot of other contested Death Battles). I don't know. I can see both characters winning. Obviously I thought Chun-Li was going to win, but pyrokinesis can be really powerful, and since Chun-Li is only human it would be bound to do some damage. Then again, Chun-Li has her chi and all going for her, not to mention her own speed and strength. I think regardless of who won or who would win, it would be close, and I bet if they fought multiple times the wins could just go back and forth.

Hm. I am not entirely convinced Mai would win, but at the same time I am not convinced Chun-Li would win, either. I realize that Mai is a skilled ninja and such, but her feats simply... didn't sound impressive. She never seemed to have an impact, where-as Chun-Li at least consistently proved herself to be the world's strongest woman (in her universe). As a detective woman, I can't see Chun-Li falling for a fake-out, and I can simply see before me Chun-Li knocking any fans out of the sky with her legs and blowing off the pyrokenisis with her ki-attacks. ... They just simply failed to make Mai sound particularly powerful. I don't see Chun-Li's style to be a bad match-up against Mai's, either, as according to the knowledge I knew Chun-Li would be able to outspeed and run down Mai. She just sounded overall better, so to say. Though, as a person who has played neither of their games, I would assume I am not the most suitable person to make such an evaluation. I'll accept their decision, but I will note that I am not convinced. ... Heh, when Mai started jumping up into the tree, I can totally see Chun-Li kicking down the tree instead of following. ... Then again, that could expose her for attack from above and hurt her foot which she'd need for the combat after. Eh, oh, well.

You wanna know why Mai doesn't sound as powerful as these guys make her out to be? Its because really she's not, especially compared to Chun-li. Instead of trying to explain to you everything that's wrong with this fight (besides the outcome), I'll show you different anime's of Mai and Chun-li so you can get and idea of who would actually win. Check out Fatal Fury 2: the new battle, Fatal Fury: the motion picture, and King of Fighters: another day ep1 to get a gauge on how skilled a fighter is Mai. For Chun-li, watch Street Fighter 2: the animated movie (uncut ver), Street Fighter Alpha: the movie, and Street Fighter 4 the aftermath trailer feat C.Viper. You can also watch Street Fighter 4 Juri anime movie and Street Fighter 2 V: the series for even more on Chun-li's skills. These are just of what they've done in the anime's, if you wanna know what they've done from their games just look on their wiki pages for that. If you wanna know anything more just let me know cuz I know all about these two. Truthfully Chun-li owns Mai pretty easily, she actually owns her in this video too if you can syphon through all the bull crap that these guys say and also have full knowledge of both characters.

well in both games as far as movement goes mai is alot faster than chunli so being a speed type they both rely on that and mai is faster. also Mai shoots fans way faster than chun li's kio shots

RonnRetrobro jr Chun-li is also a speed type fighter as well. She was the original. Now Mai may have more aerial maneuverability than Chun but movement speed their both the same. Mai also doesn't throw fans faster than Chun throws fireballs. Mai has a slow, medium, and fast projectile, same as Chuns the only difference is that Chun-Li's doesn't go full screen.

Well, I have been waiting for you to watch this battle for a while. As this is one of the few battles that was so close and while I respect SrewAttack's choice in the winner, I was not really set at ease by their explanation, which I usually am because normally they provide many good points to tilt a battle in one fighters favor over another. And in this battle they simply pointed to what seems to be a ineffective projectile(The steel fans) and pyrotechnics. And a honorable mention of Chun Li's direct police and martial arts training vs Mai's ninja training. So...just did not really set the discussion to rest and I kinda of contest the choice. But still enjoy the match up. And it was a good match up. So applause for that. However, if you have not guessed yet. I believe Chun Li should have won. She is stronger and faster and they even stated she saw through the fake out. Her speed in combos would effectively prevent Mai from being able to mount a real offense, forcing her to fight defensively, until she tires or makes a mistake. And I feel like her qi abilities would be an effective counter for the projectile attacks. They stopped a moving car. Fairly sure they can stop a fan. But thank you for watching the video.

One of the issues with some of these battles is that during the analyses they downplay (or...up-play?) some of the characters. (I know this because people tell me so in the comments.) Knowing that, it can be hard to make valid predictions sometimes. lol Like I said in the video, I agree that her training and all would have served her better. At least, I like to think it would. But I do know pyrokinesis to be powerful, and since I did not know about it when giving my prediction, and since I still don't know her full extent with pyrokinesis, I'm not sure. I mean, considering that Chun-Li is only human, even with ki/qi/chi, fire would hurt. So I suppose all I can really say in the end is that I can understand why Mai would win, I can understand why Chun-Li would win, and most of all I can understand why people would contest either one.

***** Well either way it is close, and perhaps it is my love of Street Fighter Games and while normally I side with the ranged fighter over the melee fighter. But, I feel Chun Li in this instance is an exception to the rule. Kicking through solid brick, throwing couches and stopping cars going 40 to 50 miles per hour are all extreme feats. I dont really know why they did not go the equation route, and measure up the amount of force would need to be used for a woman to kick through a brick wall or throw a couch. And then measure the injuries that would be sustained by being hit by such powerful kicks, throws and counters. But, the fight was entertaining and has not changed my personal belief that Chun Li is both the 'Strongest Woman in the World' and the 'First Lady of Fighting Games'. But, on a separate note, I love your videos and have watched all of your 'Let's Watch Death Battle' releases. Have subscribed after watching your second one or so. And much prefer watching yours to the Official Release. I watch all the Official Releases as well, but the combination of your commentary with the video makes it more enjoyable, plus for me it is more fun to watch the video 'With Company' then by myself. If that does not sound weird. Well, anyways, your open mindedness makes the videos more enjoyable and I will be tuning into your next video, I would suggest Master Chief vs Doomguy, for a great sci fi gun battle. Also, looking forward to you doing the upcoming Godzilla vs Gamera, which should be a 'giant' match. No pun intended. lol. And I am believing that Godzilla is going to win. But, I also just know a lot more about him. So, I am rooting for the 'King of Monsters' and I know you dont often know the characters very well, so if you like, I can help fill you in on Godzilla.
