Disclaimer: This a conclusion drawn from my experience and of those around me. Reader discretion is advised. 700 rupees per month is kinda similar to the domestic market here at least in Kolkata,WB(700 for 60mbps, 1100 for a 100mbps) Sure Jio is giving a way better deal on the surface but it’s not that easy When jio started it gave free 4G data connections away for literally FREE. U could get 1GB/day 4G data and unlimited calls just by signing up for a jio sim. At the time the connections were somewhat reliable but no one was complaining cuz it was free. Now jio charges around 555rupees for 4G data for 1.5 GB/day 100sms and 3000mins of talk time for 3 months. Fine similar to the domestic market but normally u would expect some reliability! It rarely gives 4G data speeds let alone 3G(mostly less than 5 mbps and sometimes even averaging around the Kbps range) occasionally gives the random 40mbps after midnight if u are lucky and even the after midnight thing is also not reliable. At some places u would even get no connection at all! Because of the stunt of free internet few years ago, jio is now the top telecom of the country with more than 32% of the user base using jio’s non reliable shitty internet. That stunt few years ago, decimated all the small and middle telecom providers and only the big corporations survived. Two of these big corporations Vodafone and Idea had to merge just to survive and now the market is a 3 way tug between 3 companies and BSNL(the government telecom service) with 10% user base. To summarise: Jio by pulling the stunt 4 years ago dominated the market. Killed small competitors and now is lowering the standards of “good’ internet” for the country so in the future they can launch a “premium pack” to provide sub par 4G connections. The same thing will now happen to the wired internet market, they will claim to give u 100mbps (but they will not it’s only gonna be somewhat reliable but nobody is gonna complain because of the 4K tv) 2 years down the line they will have decimated most competitors and small companies and degraded the standard of reliability for the whole country (I call it, they are gonna very rarely give u 90mbps when mostly if u are lucky it’s 25 mbps and in average u will get less than 10 mbps) at the same time steadily increasing the prices to more than 1200rupees.

i agree my friend is also using the jio sim. sure they have better connectivity than airtel but the quality of the connection is far below what a low range airtel connection will give for mobile data. on airtel i could download CS:GO using mobile data with hotspot and it gave a maximum speed of 6.7 MBps(yes, megabytes thats what steam showed) and averaged around 3.2 MBps while my friend cant even watch youtube videos properly with his jio connection on mobile and i couldn't use wifi for the download because of a weak router(some techical issues) and now i have upgraded to 5GHz router and i get around 300 Mbps while i bought the plan for 200 Mbps. airtel has range issues but even at a bad range i always have a 4G connection(even at 1 bar) that rarely drops below 100 Kbps when downloading apk files at 1 bar while jio cant manage that at all bar connection consistently. the quality standards are far below low even for that price range. my friend also says he has to keep using jio because it is cheap so he buys the premium package and even while vodafone was a major telecom provider even they had better options jio will only degrade industry standards at this rate
