Makes it that much harder when the real words come out. Been a stupid year this one for Mercedes and Lewis. In the cold light of day the reason he leaves is because they lost the plot on design and the strategies from the team have illustrated there is great fragmentation between the powers of the team. The loss of Niki has obviously hurt the team immensely. Good luck Mercedes, Lewis and Ferrari in 2025, its a good thing that we already wait for the new season with great expectations.

@@Cyndaquilll George could definitely have fought the position harder but I do not think he let him through; if you watch the previous corners George was covering him off as well as he possibly could, but scrubbed hards vs Lewis' 8 laps fresher mediums was likely always going to mean Lewis had better traction and grip. I saw the two of them finally give each other the kind of respect that I think has been missing (in both directions) from their pairing for most of the last 3 years. If you don't agree with that overtake per se, certainly the rest of Lewis' drive this race was worthy of recognition. Yes, Charles performed better on the first lap, but remember that Lewis was the only driver on the grid to start on the hard tyre whilst Charles had the medium.

Now what has happened for example in Spa this year is that after the race the tyres were so degraded on George Russels car that the minimum weight was breached and they got disqualified after the race. Now what he is saying is that he doesnt care wether Lewis degrades his tyres to the point of the weight being too low because he has deserved it and they dont care about the points lost in a potential dsq

I started as a Seb fan when I got back into racing, and I had damn near a decade worth of Seb getting SO CLOSE to #5 but Lewis (and Nico, and Ferrari with their questionable sensors in like 18 or 19) would kill my hopes and dreams, revive them, and kill them again The last say, 4-5 years, im not even remotely tribal with my fandom right, but I’ve gotten genuinely emotional for Lewis with every podium since 21. The win AT HOMEEEE had me losing my shit lmao But I can’t help but love the guy. He’s a class act and one of the most gifted humans to ever get behind the wheel of a racecar Like other sports you really can’t have one single GOAT, But if Schumi was MJ, Lewis was easily a LeBron for this modern era. He hasn’t lost a step since 07 and you can dislike him for any reason whatsoever, but none of us can deny the absolute greatness we saw in his time with Mercedes. I really truly hope he can get #8. And imo getting an 8th WDC with Ferrari would be the ultimate, perfect storybook ending for one of the greatest competitors in sports history. It is amazing how the tyre life affects racing. In abu dhabi 2021 he had a marginally faster car in abu dhabi but last lap his tyres were cooked and he couldn't make the same move that he now did around the outside in equal machinery just with better tyres

As someone who recently started karting. The difference between new tyres and old tyres, doesn't even have to be different compounds, is absolutely night and day. If the new tyres felt like a W11 then old tyres feels like the F14T. The difference is just that big.

What a driver, and more importantly, what a person. I've never been the biggest Lewis or even F1 fan but the last couple of years, he's been fantastic. It's easy being nice if all you do is win, he kept on being an inspiration even when results were going against him.
