Fricking brilliant. Smarter than the engineers that designed such a stupid part. I just paid $520.83 to a non dealer shop for the fix. $320 for just the parts alone. Best wishes, from Texas

Thank you for showing this. I was just going to replace but thought it was awfully wasteful to throw so much metal away for a broken piece of plastic. Weird they didn’t use metal for that whole part.

Excellent and very economical ! Went to several workshops and they were not able to assist. However, I replaced the cable ties with wire, which work very well. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

Totally agree. Minor DIY can solve the problem.

Thank you Kai Chen! Works perfect. It took me a while to understand the metal bracket is not in the original position but rather behind the metal catch. It saves me several trips to the dealer, waiting for parts, installation etc. Very likely the new original part will break again after 4-5 years in the hot weather. For our CRV the right side was broken and while I was studying the left side it broke as well. Seems the plastic becomes brittle and when you release the latch to quick it just breaks off. The tie-rips will hold much longer I'm sure :) Thanks again!
@kcgoh014 жыл бұрын
Great to heard that it works for you. If you can find a stainless steel tie-rips, I think it can last even longer and won't broke due to any weather condition.

Wow! I was expecting to need a new part at about $145. After watching this video, 30 minutes later and two zip ties I already had, Done. Works perfectly. Thank you SO MUCH! I did remove the whole latching assembly to make it easier to do the zip ties.

Great to hear that it solved your problem. I totally agreed that removing the latching is easier to repair. I think if you use a better zip ties such as stainless steel type, it can last longer.

OMG!!!! Thank you so much! That was easy especially for a girl on a budget. It helped that my fingers are little. Yay! You rock! p.s. couldn’t find metal ties that fit the holes so I used the black ties. All good for now. Still saved me $150+.

Thank you for posting this hack. Have exactly the same problem.( Plastic part broke off ).Plastic encasing metal ,its bound to be heated up ,in our Malaysia climate -hot sun when we park in the open . Cannot understand why Honda cannot make all metal part. Surely with all the breakages , its the weakest part in their seat recliner . They charge RM 500 for complete assembly (VERY EXPENSIVE ) and No stock at PJ service centre. This really frustrates us Honda customers . Both mine ,left and right side have broken now .
@kcgoh014 жыл бұрын
Same as mine. I have done both side as well.

Thanks for viewing the video. Yes, Amber. You need to put the cable with the steel balls back, or else you are not able to pull the latch and alight the chair.

Did you can lay the seat to step 2? My passanger seat can't sett to step 2 position becase the tie stuck the path.
@kcgoh013 жыл бұрын
Mine not able to adjust to step 2 as well.
@iwan20233 жыл бұрын
Oic. Has you try use the thinner ties? I thinking try change with thinner ties so the latches wouldn't stuck. I break the cover 😅, so I order the new cover, maybe 2-4 Days the cover will ready at the Honda store.
@iwan20233 жыл бұрын
UPDATE. I finish change the 2nd ties with the thinner one (2.5 x 100 mm) and the single one still using the thicker (for the stronger hold). It can sett the seat to step 2 smoothly. Thanks bro for your creative information. It proofs save the money 😊
