I fish a lot on my Kayak here in Arkansas...and I watch these videos in awe of how strong and fast even small saltwater fish are. I love your videos. You do such a great job with filming yourself and editing. Wish I lived closer to some saltwater so I could experience this but till then love living it through your videos. Great work! Keep it up.

appreciate the respect freshwater guys show for the salt. that said, i still think the toughest fighting fish and hardest hitting fish in the world lb for lb is a largemouth bass.

Just a suggestion. Sometimes when the fish are skittish, let your bait drop with no weight (just free spool it). Sometimes the bigger fish are deeper and you can get them to bite. We pulled 3 gaffers off the pots by doing that. Shocked me, couldn't believe we had 3 gaffers

Used to fish Bull Dolphin (aka Mahi-Mahi, Dorado) near Marathon key. We used flying fish caught the nite before on catamaran. Trick is to hook 1 or two using two sep rods. reel them in close to boat. Leave them in the water, and use third rod to bring home the bacon, er, fish. Mahi are school fish and will not abandon their kin.

@@treasurecoastwaters8400 the problem with “everyone should experience the place “ is that as soon as everyone is in these special places, they aren’t so special any longer. I live in what was a remote and pristine valley that is 92% public land. But it has been discovered by flatlanders, and now the traffic is nonstop, drivers are super aggressive, and the quiet and peacefulness that made this a special and unusual place is disappearing. Better not to mention your special places, and hope not too many other people notice them.

@@treasurecoastwaters8400 you’re fantastic. You deleting your post is a beautiful thing. You understandably want to share in your enjoyment of special places. That’s nice of you. But you’ll come to regret that “spot burning,” because you’ll go to your special place one morning, and fifty other people will be there, too. Not so special then… how has your fishing been this summer?

One of the best ways to catch mahi Is to catch a bonito Cut it up in little chunks And throw some in the water And then Throw your line in With a nice chunk of Bonito And freeline. And another way Is a small bucktail jig with a strip of squid They both work good

I appreciate Rich mixing it up to show how many tips and tricks he has and the variety of the fishery we are so blessed to have. Love the videos Rich. Keep them coming. Went offshore for the first time on Sunday out of Indian River Inlet. We trolled for a couple of hours and didn't see a fish. We switched to bottom fishing and pulled tilefish in one after the other. Its the most ridiculous method of fishing I've ever done. LOL! Drop down, wait 3 to 30 seconds for the tip to twitch, throw the lever and the electric reel does all the work. I was hoping to hit some pots with light tackle for mahi, but we didn't have time. Next year we are going for tuna.

Shit how big is that boat? I run a 16ft starcraft 30 miles off Atlantic city just about every weekend solo. Im trying for either a 200 plus bluefin or 300 plus thresher. This year I've already smoked 2 20 plus mahi at the 28 mile wreck and an 87lb bluefin surprisingly in only 58ft of water about 4 miles off. Have faith in your motor

Mahi are one of the fastest growing and most prolific salt water species in the world . They inhabit almost every ocean on earth. Sport fishing and killing some to eat will never harm the population. So before you tell people what to do, know your facts.
