Like Long Hair - Paul Revere and the Raiders

From the 1996 release "Generic Rock 2". Back in the early days of the Raiders, most of their repertoire was instrumental. In fact, their first album on Gardena Records, 1961, was all instrumental. This song, Like Long Hair, became their first top 40 hit, featuring Paul Revere on piano. It was pretty rare for the 80s/90s Raiders to feature this song in their concerts, so I was very pleased when they included it on this live album. This lineup of the Raiders - Paul, Omar Martinez (drums), Doug Heath (guitar), Ron Foos (bass), Danny Krause (keyboards), Carlo Driggs (vocals) and Jamie Revere (guitar) was the lineup that was together the longest.

How often it is that we don't know what we had until they're gone. Thanks for posting a little "Rachpaulinoff." And while the recurrent novae was Revere, the complementing bright lights once surrounding him, Carl Driggs, Doug Heath, Omar Martinez, Danny Krause and Ron Foos, combined to make the most talented rock band ever to take the stage. The parts were all phenomenal but if the phrase "the whole is greater than the sum of its parts" were applied to a rock band, Paul Revere and the Raiders, with Paul and the personnel just mentioned, were it. My golly.

I used to see them at Disneyland with the Grass Roots. When I was 10 years old, I’m 71 now he was a great entertainer and a funny human being. He had the gift of humor, great tone and picking musicians. Those are great times.
