Yes! I had bulimic in high school then I was dx with type 1 diabetes. At one point my blood sugar was over 1,000. I honestly should be dead. I have to treat food like a drug it will kill me. It's the same as an alcoholic I have to abstain from the stuff that will trigger me.

The trap for me is also trying to replace my favorite junk foods and binge items with “keto approved” or whatever diet approved. We are masters at that! But think about what got us where we are… do we really need to be making “carnivore mashed potatoes” or keto cake? No! Not those of us who struggle deeply like that… it’s hard, yes, but quitting any addiction is hard! I was an alcoholic for 17 years, sober for almost 2 now and I just keep reminding myself that I can be free and how much healthier I am physically AND mentally for it. Freedom is truly the best feeling! Not being a slave to anything! Not alcohol, not food, not social media, not relationships, nothing. Just freedom and peace. 🕊️

So inspirational!!! My mother was so toxic and critical of my acne and body when i was a teen. When i finally left home, my weight just dropped to normal without any effort. My acne cleared up. Toxic people and relationships can affect our health. After 20 years, i got sucked into family drama again, i developed SIBO, leaky gut and gained weight after effortlessly maintaining my weight for 2 decades.

Fantastic interview! Very inspirationaI, she went through the dark night of the soul and came out the other side someone ready for growth! Progress report below for those interested! Day 71 on the carnivore diet, began on Feb 28. I started with ribeyes, eggs, ghee, and beef tallow, but since day 43 it has been only beef, salt and water for SIBO, histamine intolerance, leaky gut, and celiac. Main symptoms were bloating (I didn't realize how bad until I started carnivore and now experience NONE) and rashes everywhere. I only eat at around noon and at about 6 pm, and total food for the day is around a kilo, or 2.2 lbs of beef. I don't snack and it is not a struggle at all, I really only start to feel hungry when lunch and dinner time are near. My rashes got much worse for the first 6-8 weeks, which is why I went strict beef, water, salt, to eliminate the possibility that eggs, ghee, or tallow was part of the problem still in my diet. Since I knew about oxalate dumping and the detox process I stayed the course. Around week 9 I hardly had any fresh rashes and what is left is drying up and healing. 11 years living with this problem after strep throat and 2 rounds of antibiotics. I have tried long term the Paleo diet, vegetarian, keto(but while vegetarian), and a diet that was personalized by a nutritionist, and I have never felt this good at any point in my life physically and mentally. Fitness and diet have been important for me since before the problems started, but the diet part I was getting wrong even though it was considered healthy. My experience on the carnivore diet has turned everything I thought I knew about nutrition upside down. It really does seem to be the REAL Paleo diet. At about the 6 week mark I noticed that I felt stronger and more in control during my workouts than ever before. That hasn't stopped yet. I'm able to add extra weight to every workout, and I'm barely sore the day after. I can't believe the gains I'm making on this diet. I only take 4000 IU of vitamin D, and a few drops of iodine for supplements daily. I'm 6 feet tall and 39 years old, when I started the diet I weighed 165lbs (75 kg). Weight loss was not on the agenda, but since around the 2 month mark my weight hovers around 154 lbs (70 kg). I can't even hide my abs if I tried, I have never been so lean in my entire life. Before I began carnivore, I started a treatment that a team of specialists made for me based on all the bloodwork and tests and was taking over a dozen supplements during each phase of treatment. The funny thing is, literally the first thing I was told was that I was eating TOO MUCH red meat! Now that is the only thing I eat! I don't even know how much I blew on supplements, but it was significant because I live in Latin America now and they aren't cheap to get here. What a waste of 2 years following the treatment. Now my "supplement" is eating organ meats once in a while. Lately though I stopped eating it because I ate it to frequently one week and started to get swelling and pain in one of my fingers. When I started the diet I had the same thing in one of my big toes when I ate too much liver. Basically the beginning stages of gout from what I understand. So for those trying the diet, do be careful not to eat too much organ meats! Dr. Anthony Chaffee said he can count on 2 hands how many times he has eaten it in his life and doesn't believe it is necessary on the carnivore diet. I think I will follow that advice. I plan on continuing the lions diet (red meat, salt, water) until my skin is completely healed. Then I will look at slowly adding more carnivore foods one at a time to the diet to make sure I tolerate them before permanently adding it. I might end up ketovore in the end because I'd love to add things like avocado, coconut and coconut water to my diet. Whatever I do, it will be a diet that keeps me in ketosis, because damn, I can't believe how good I feel on no carbs! I share my story only in hopes that it will give someone else who struggles with mysterious health problems the courage to give this diet an honest try. I'm convinced that anyone who does the diet for 6-8 weeks will realize that WE ARE CARNIVORES, or at the very least, ketovores, when times were tough and meat was hard to come by. Good luck to everyone on their journey to optimal health!

For anyone who has chronic pain, anything from back & joint pain, to headaches, vertigo, to sciatica, to bunions, there's a great book called Pain Free by Pete Egoscue. It uses yoga and pilates style exercises to realign the proper posture of the body. Absolutely saved me with my shoulder, neck and lower back pain. I assume it should be easy for carnivores because it puts the onus of your health on you, rather than on pain meds, surgery or chiros, physios etc, something carnivores have already done with taking personal responsibility of their diet.

Along the line of “I’m not perfect and I don’t need to be” I think the carnivore groups “for beginners” that are supposed to be support groups always jump on anyone who posts a picture of a meal with a vegetable, and that always struck me as very not supportive. When I was starting I remember posting a pic of chili that I made with no beans or onions - but it did have a tomato sauce base and a Jalapeño in it, and the picture was reported and I was put on moderation. I felt like, hey I’m new at this, and this is way better than what it would’ve been in the past (think bread bowl)! How about “see how you feel tomorrow and if you feel icky, maybe try without tomato sauce next time.” And then all of the other newbies in the group could have benefited too. But instead, the pic was removed and I was warned that I better not post anything containing a veg again. 🤦‍♀️

Amanda you are amazing! Congratulations on improving your health ! ❤ I to have a carb addiction - I could eat half a cake, vomit ( not purging) and then finish the other half. I switched to carnivore the same way you did. My weight went from 250lbs to 213lbs since March 2023. I exercise/ active recovery 5-6 days per week and love it! Health wise: my RA symptoms are almost gone, my sleep( was chronic insomniac) is 7-8 hours per night, my energy levels are consistently high, I’m generally happier ,fewer stomach issues including acid reflux, and my HS ( skin condition) is non existent! I feel better than I did in my 20’s ( I’m 58yrs old) … I still want to get to 199lbs but the weight is not my sole focus. I am never going back to eating poison again! Thank you for sharing your journey and being my inspiration! Much ❤❤❤

What a great discussion, things I can relate to. I went two months carnivore, felt great, lost a bunch of weight. But then fell off and on for the last 3-4 weeks but now back on and feeling the effects again already. The last part of this video hit home, we are human and no one is perfect. I need to remember that myself and stop beating myself up for my failure to stay on target. It just happens.

When you IF fast or do extreme carb restriction like keto or carnivore you do bb stress your adrenal Glands and that alone will keep fat on you ! I didn’t lose fat until I STOPPED IF FASTING . STOPPED KETO CARNIVORE and started eating 3-6 times a day small but nourishing meals ! My A-1C dropped to 4.8 consistently once I made these changes ! I eat meat eggs butter fruit, and small amounts of vegetables that agree with me . Adrenals matter ppl !

I’ve developed egg sensitivity so I use it moderately during the week for my sweet treats or bread receipts. Also found out duck eggs are different proteins so I add that now. It is more expensive yet I don’t eat it daily. One duck egg is also like the size of 2 chicken eggs. Plus I started to use Amish eggs found in some pasteurized eggs. They don’t feed their chickens with corn and soy.

Oh wow, enjoyed this so much! I have definitely realized that I'm a binge eater and addicted to food - I started to eat healthy in 2019 and ended up in DKA as a type 2 diabetic from my medication, which still causes me anxiety and hinders me from going carnivore thinking I'll end up there again (even though I'm no longer taking that medication). However, I do notice that I have many compulsive tendencies (such as writing things again and again and over thinking them all day, every day). Thank you for this, Lillie and Amanda! Lillie, do you have any other videos were you discuss your "organizing" anxiety, etc. Thank you!

Superb interview with an inspiring interviewee. Lillie, you have a gift in drawing out SO much information in just the right amount of time. A perfect video to share with those interested in changing from a morbidly obese lifestyle to an optimum health way of life. Amanda’s advice resonated with me, “Ask them if they are happy with their current weight and leave them alone if they are.” Also her observation that OMAD made her eat too much at one sitting! I was OMAD went 2MAD But as a stretch receptor eater ate twice as much, I’m learning to nibble and stop and listen to my body. A perfectionist I was always disappointed, I will focus now on steady progress and tweak stuff as I go. Tweaking is permitted😊 Thank you BOTH for your candor and willingness to share. Added Amanda to my prayer list, Lillie you are already there…

First, thank you for sharing. Love your story! This goes back to what I keep seeing repeated on several carnivore channels. Everyone is different. This is your story and what works for you. Fasting may not work for you but it works for others. And who knows, you might find a time later on when you can do it. For me it was fat. I did Adkins, Keto, and most recently carnivore. I lost weight but it could have just been because I took all the sugar out of my diet. After a while though I would feel bad and end up back on my old diet and gain the weight back. After doing the research though, I found out I forgot one key thing. I was watching the carbs and keeping them low but I wasn't getting enough fat. I'm so glad I found this community where everybody shares their experience. I learn something new all the time and get inspired to do better.
