Lillie this is 49 yr. old Brian. I was a single father. I raised my two boys..one was 3 months old, the other a little over a year. My ex abandoned me and my kids and left to use Meth. My kids are now in their early 20's. The ex wife maybe spent a total of two weeks with them over the first ten years of their life, and maybe 2 birthdays when they were young, and a few Christmases The past 10 years, they did not even hear an "I love you" from my ex. I realized over the years that it really didn't effect them, but it had effected me. I blamed myself for many many years, and I now know the reason why I have not been in many relationships is because of the hurt of what she did. Deep down I felt like it could happen again. Over a year ago, I found her online and sent a picture of the boys to her, telling her that it wasn't too late to have a relationship with them. She told my ex mom in law, (who I get along with), to tell me "to not send her any more pictures of the kids"and that if they wanted to speak to her then they will". So, I've learned that some people only care for themselves. And I've learned to let go of the feeling that it was my fault. Sometimes the heartbreak we go thru propels us into new areas and things we never thought we could accomplish. Now that I've got my weight goals down,...down to 154 today... finances are next. Thanks for sharing your story. You guys will raise great kids. Be blessed.

I have failed, and it is starting to look like that will never happen for me. I'm sad about it almost every day. All I can do now is say learn from me, learn from my experience. Get married, hold onto your family, make beautiful babies!! :) thank you for the inspiring story Lillie! It sounds like you've already overcome so much! I hope you can go on to be a great mom! If you don't have any substance abuse issues, are in reasonable shape, have a job, are willing to do work on yourself, you know the kind of man someone would want as the father of their children, then go out there and meet someone who wants kids. The advantage of being a man is you have more time. If you are an unhealthy alcoholic, get out there to an aa meeting and start taking care of yourself and turn yourself into who you want the father of your kids to be.

I am 65, never wanted kids. Not even when I was little and playing house with dolls did I think, I want to grow up and have a real baby. I love animals, and I can mother a puppy or kitten till the cows come home, but a baby? Nah. My sister, is the exact opposite. She had 4 kids, and has a multitude of grandkids and great grandkids, and loves it. To each their own. But I am happy you have reached the place you want to be in. Truly.

No. She most likely wasted time during college years with "sexy" guy who then walked on in his life and she parted ways with fond memories and then met this present guy with money and married him. All her talk is about him loving her but barely any is about her love for him, let alone any heartfelt serving feminine love for him. And all these years all she and this man have done is live only for fun and consumption instead of diligent and affectionate domestic life. The pattern is mostly the same among most women in today's world whether or not their childhood had unkind parents.

@@ambersummer2685 Thank you for clarifying but honestly speaking it is amazing how we never see majority women talking about how they love and serve their man (who also has his responsibility towards her), but all about how much this man does for her, whether or not their childhood had lack of love. As if men don't face double amounts of loveless childhoods. To be clear, minority numbers of women are femininely loving and femininely responsible towards their men. These do deserve male affection.

"There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear (1 John 4:18)." I'm so proud of you Lillie! This was such an amazing and inspiring video! It's awesome to see how much you're growing, not just in your fitness and nutrition, but you're growing as a person (perhaps Bryce has something to do with this :D). You are growing in discipline, humility, and wisdom. It takes a lot of guts to make a video like this. It takes a lot of humility to admit that you were wrong and you see things differently now. It's never a good idea to base your important life decisions on fear. We can't let our fears and anxiety dictate what we can and can't do in life. Decisions should be made with confidence, wisdom, and love.

@@Blurp3 that's great to hear. The important thing is to always remember that you are entirely dependant on the Lord. Jesus said, "I am the vine, you are the branches. Without me, you can do nothing." All you need in life is to find and follow His path and then you won't have to worry about the outcome. If you're doing what He has called you to do, then you already have His assurance that it will all work out according to His plan.

Mid 30's is not old. I did stop after having only her, because I still had fears about having children/more children (I have a brother & a sister & my relationship w/ them has always been very stressful...they both got Messed up on drugs & alcohol in their teens). My daughter is 11 now. She is my only one, but I do have days I wish I'd had more. She tells me she loves being an only child. She has several friends who are also only children, because it is more common these days. You're still young enough to have more than one if that's what you want, but if you only want one that's good too! So many women today don’t want kids. And so many studies show how unhappy women are who don’t have kids. I too was raised in an abusive, alcoholic, drug rampant environment and also struggled with not wanting kids. I’m almost 40 now and have done a lot of research on women’s happiness and kids. Jordan Peterson is my favorite to turn to in this subject. As a clinical psychologist, he has had many motherless (by choice) patients in their 60s who have a void in their life now and are so unhappy. These are very successful women who make 6 figures. But it’s in our nature to nurture and raise little ones and when we become out of touch with our instincts, we lose sight of what makes us happy. So now for the first time in my life, I actually want kids. I think the trauma I experienced as a child is why I never wanted them, but the innate instinct inside of me (like all women) actually wanted them. Fortunately, that instinct was able to come to the surface and reveal itself after my many years of healing. I wish it happened sooner when I was 30. But I’m not giving up hope.

I was 40 when I realized that I was going to regret not having children. I had my tubes out when I was 34. So in order to have children, we would need to use IVF. We fully explored that option and decided it wasn’t right for us. Despite that disappointment and the regret, I’m able to accept the consequences and be a good wife, daughter and friend. I love to bake and keep a tidy home and care for my hubby and pets. We do fear aging without kids, but we take good care of ourselves and pray that all goes well. I do encourage people to have children if they can. But I am also proof that it’s possible to be content despite circumstances. There’s no perfect path!

My father was an alcoholic, abused my mother. Left completely when I was 8 years old I'm 36 and haven't seen him since he disappeared and abandoned me even tho they were separated when I was 4. He didn't love me and I've accepted that. I've been through some other things but I don't complain too much.. Had a daughter 5 years ago it's SO much work especially when you don't have a lot of help. It's expensive but not as expensive as I was always told. It's stressful at times, it's more work than I could have imagined. IT WAS THE BEST THING TO EVER HAPPEN TO ME!! I love her so much and couldn't imagine this life without her. Wish I could have had her earlier but my timing was probably for good reason. She's changed who I am and my entire life. With the knowledge you have you would be a fantastic mother!! A lot times those of us who went through tough things early and were wild n crazy young kids end up making the best parents. A lot of times those who have a "perfect picture" childhood with everything given to them and no problems end up having problems in adulthood. Not always but in my life I see it all around me.

You know what Lillie! I’m just so damn happy for you on so many levels. Mostly because getting to know your true self, your true motivations is the best thing anyone could ever do because this is what changes the world. Your happiness is contagious and no one can be truly happy if they don’t know themselves. That’s my opinion of course. I’m excited for your future. Our childhoods sound so similar. But unlike you it’s taken me 41 years to get to a place where I feel okay. Not necessarily happy but okay. I still have abandonment and attachment issues. I still struggle to trust people and the love they give. I did have children very young actually and I wish I had had the emotional and mental maturity to have waited. But I also don’t regret it. I just think I would have made a better mother had I spent more time getting to know myself and learning to love myself. Anyways, sorry this isn’t about me. I just felt I could definitely relate. Btw, lots of people travel with their children.

With all your perspective, Lillie, you will be a magical mama!

Part of your harmful brainwashing of your adult age daughter is fantasizing to her in this way that she's still a child when in fact she's been able to generate one for almost half a decade and is currently at the peak of her youth and attractiveness. You will ruin her future by projecting this infantilizing causing her to reject high value suitors as myself who won't be interested once she's 20 and MASSIVELY physically degraded; it's 2023 and you need to look around and observe actual real-world data.

As someone who is still trying to get some areas of his life together, I can absolutely sympathize. Didn’t really have much of a fulfilling life; didn’t travel much, never really had a career or did any work that fulfilled me, and the list goes on. I keep thinking that I may not want to have kids because there is so much that I missed out on, and I don’t want to throw all of my dreams or plans away solely because of what is perceived as a societal norm. It might make it harder to find love as well, but it’s just something I’ll have to deal with.

I don’t understand why women now days want to put their desires and needs before having children. The truth is 90% of your eggs are gone by the age of 30, and most IVF treatments fail. I’ve seen so many women put their “dreams “ careers” and “aspirations “ only to end up childless and miserable. The truth is we are created to be mothers. Becoming a mother is the best and most fulfilling Decision any woman will make(especially if you are happily married and stable)Too many women wait too long and believe me pregnancy is so much harder at an old age.

I'm so happy for you to be able to change your mind on the subject of having kids. I spent close to 20 years working for a humanitarian organization with my husband and with no kids. By the time I was 38 I couldn't suppress the urge for kids any longer. We basically started our lives over and at 41 I had my one and only daughter. I always wanted kids, but put my humanitarian work first. Once I had my daughter I couldn't believe how much MORE love I could give and have. It truly has made my life whole. I would have had more kids but I waited too long. Anyway, I'm happy with my one perfect amazing daughter! I am sure you will be an amazing mom and you will love it!

If you want kids, cool. But if you’re equating not having kids with eating junk food, not cool or accurate. Junk food damages you, but not having kids doesn’t. And having kids doesn’t automatically nourish you either. Spiritual nourishment is an inside job with or without kids.
@curious164
@curious164 Жыл бұрын
She literally says that eating junk food or not having kids isn't necessarily a "wrong choice". She's just using it as a metaphor for how her mindset changed. She's learnt that she can be happy with kids, even if before she thought she couldn't. Just like she learnt she can be happy without sugar, even if previously she thought she couldn't.
@MarigoldSundays
@MarigoldSundays Жыл бұрын
@@curious164 If eating junk food isn’t a wrong decision, why change that decision? Because it IS harmful for you. So, if she’s using that metaphor to explain changing her decision about having kids, she’s implying not having kids is harmful. So, this isn’t just about being happy to have kids when she thought she couldn’t. It’s about justifying that decision by implying it’s superior to not having kids. She even called it the highest form of love…as if those who don’t have kids can’t reach this level of love. It comes off as spiritual snobbery. So, I’m saying how about we not make this a contest? You can experience the highest forms of love and give greatest amount of love with or without children in the mix.
