It's also interesting that the original Gervais joke had recently blown up over the last 2 months online - I'd often see it on my list of recommended KZbin Shorts - it's seen as a pretty good argument against Twitter outrages, etc. So the writers weren't just stitching him up over a word-for-word joke that happened 4 years ago, they were stitching him up over something which a huge chunk of people would have seen in recent weeks on social media. And that shows how detached Corden is from things these days, he literally didn't have a fucking clue. Also, if he's as big a fan of Gervais as he claims to be, he would have spotted that joke in an instant when the writers gave it to him. So that's also quite telling.
@eliwood99062 жыл бұрын

I've no idea of the context of this but I'd wager corden has been mistreating his writing team or they have it in for him and stitched him up. @@Azad_2024_ years ago on Never Mind the Buzzcocks Frankie Boyle said something like, you can use that line if you want Corden. It seems he's been using others comedians jokes for awhile, as Gervais has said the same. Or, as you've stated, his writers have been stitching him up.

When I was working at the Apple store in regent st 12 years ago I was helping James Corden choose a macbook - there was such a snobby 'I am better than you ' air about him, and had a real unfriendliness about him. So that's a bit of first hand evidence. And this was ages ago so I imagine his ego and inauthenticity have bloated tenfold since then.
