Great video!!! What year vehicle is this? Would this the be the same /similar procedure as a 2018 Ford Edge with 3.5L V6? I think there’s a cross support that needs to be removed for the cooling fans to be removed.

This is a 2013 with a 3.7. Up to I think 2014 this should be a pretty identical process for the 3.5’s and 3.7’s. I believe there were some slight configuration changes in the years following, but should at least be a good guide for what to expect. I always try to combine tips and information from multiple sources and past experiences, but I recommend getting at much info as you can from different sources too to see what works best for you. I just did this job and I did not have to drain the coolant out to remove the fan as I had plenty of room to wiggle it out, nor did I have to take off of the tensioner to remove the belt for the 2011 Ford edge.

This is a 3.7. It’s possible the layout makes it a little different with space to work. Thanks for the insight though.

is there any way to remove the alternator without removing the fan? I just replaced the fan on my friends lincoln mkx and i really dont wanna do all that again

I’m going to a say no. At least not from the top. Even with the fan gone, you’ve got to be pretty careful and rotate the alternator around a bit to get it out. It’s a tight fit.
