There was a time this band was everything to me. Their "Hybrid Theory" and "Meteora" albums got me through hard times in my teenange years. Later I lost track a bit because the more electronic stuff they made wasn't really my taste but when Chester suddenly committed scuicide it was like a punch in the face. No other celebrity death came even close in what an impact that had on me. Back in my teens songs like In the End or Numb gave me goosebumps but today I struggle not to burst into tears.

interestingly enough, when I started watching this, I was eating a meal I got from Hungry Jacks (the Australian version of Burger King) and noticed the inked girl serving my food had a semicolon ";" tattoo, which usually is worn by someone who felt suicidal or attempted suicide but ended up surviving or not going through it. I understand suicide, as I've felt like that due to depression, bullying and mental illness. However, I personally believe that suicide is an end in itself, as in death is not what the person wants, but want an end to what they're feeling or going through, usually to end their suffering and bring them peace, which to them is an act of self-love. What I guess is important to ask, is though suicide can be through a feeling of suffering, or depression from being treated badly, or feeling like a burden to others, shows actually that they care much about others and put others before themselves, which shows how much of a big heart they have, and how much love they want to give to others or themselves by ending their suffering. I know it seems odd to understand why someone would commit suicide, but I think people need a sense of connection and understanding from others, which is what may be the care and love they need to not go through with suicide. I understand people try to discourage suicide by saying that they'll go to hell, or that by killing themselves they'll destroy their family and friends, but I think that just makes people suffer more and feel even more burdens or feel they're living in a suffering environment for the sake of others, and that people don't care about their true feelings and need to be understood, rather than turned away from or condemned. I think all people who are going through something, whether it be mental illness, or suicidal thoughts, or homicidal thoughts, or going through drugs or addiction, these things are ways of us trying to find a sense of control over our lives or over life in general, which is what leads to our surviving and thriving in the world, which is ultimately an act of self-love. I believe that both evil and good comes from the level of self-love, and that people have basically the same needs of physiological, safety, love, belongingness, self-esteem, self-actualization and self-transcendence and that if we could get those needs met, there wouldn't be a need for what some consider evil, be it war or crime, and it is this sense of understanding that is crucial as a form of intervention before bad things happen, that deep down inside we're all human beings and need to be loved, understood and respected. What I know is that if there was another way for them to love themselves or love others without committing suicide, would they be willing to go through some other way to get over their sadness, suffering and become someone who can give things to the world that we need in these times. Sorry for the extensive post, but thanks for reading this.

As a fan of ‘rock and roll’ since it was first invented, I am fascinated by how it has spawned so many grandchildren and has affected and been affected by so many other genres. In this video we see the delicious blend of rap and metal (and other influences) leading to something that is both and neither and something else all at once. I am happy that my early musical education was so varied, and I can continue to appreciate the new as well as the old and everything in between, unlike other old coots who think ‘if it ain’t Fifties (or Sixties, or …) it ain’t music’. Good reaction, good editing, all good. 🐳
