Just watched the movie and wow. It’s amazing and really shows every aspect of all the characters showing how mad all of them went kind of reflecting our world today. You can really see how Katniss was Snows karma 70 years later. Her name, her song, her symbol, and her situation with Peeta. Katniss is basically Lucy coming back to haunt Snow. That’s why snow said at the end of a movie “I hated you from the moment your name was drawn” Katniss was one of Lucy’s songbirds in a way

i was kinda with you until the last line. everyone has their own interpretations of the book, but saying “Katniss was always meant to be the mockingjay” literally goes against what the books are stating. She was pushed to be the Mockingjay (leader of the rebellion) because of everything she did, when it was only to protect Prim (which in the end meant nothing, because war doesn’t stop or care for anyone).

It's just about the point of view. Yes, the original hunger games trilogy was written as young adult books. But I have never seen it as "childish" or immature. It is much more complex than it might seem. But the story is told from a point of view of young girl who is basically thrown in the middle of the system and soon becomes the center of powerplay between all big players. Not something she wanted or chose, her goal at the start was purely to save her sister. An act of love and compassion ... Some time later it shows the audience how a revolution and movement unfolds and what are the consequences of such actions. And all of that alone is not enough. You have to lead the movement somehow and win. But what happens afterwards? The people who have started might not survive and if they do, they are not the same ...
@comradedoggo3744
@comradedoggo3744 Жыл бұрын
@@IMU23588 I never said the original trilogy was childish or immature. I agree with you, it was actually extremely dark and nuanced, especially for a young adult series. This prequel expanded upon the original trilogy’s political and philosophical themes in a very effective way.

What I love about this book is that if you’ve read the 48 Laws of Power by Robert Green, you can predict the roles each character will play around Coriolanus because patterns of human behavior are evident in their actions. So even before a major betrayal occurs, you know who it’s most likely to come from and why. Snow plays chess with others emotions, carefully crafting his words and actions in order to always land on top. Brilliant book and the movie looks like it will capture the same energy in a faithful manner.

@@Noknes Careful. Once I learned the knowledge that book contains it became harder for me to be a genuine person. Manipulation can easily become second hand nature. It can change you so you don't even know what you are anymore. I become a person seeking implementation of my goals by using peoples weaknesses instead of engaging earnestly with all my heart and mind to know, love and understand those around me to ascertain the greater good I may not have been capable of seeing. To this day I am still not sure of my motives. Beware. It was effective but I wish I never read it. Genuine engagement is a greater treasure in an increasingly self obsessed world.

I feel like the use of “it’s the things we love most that destroy us” was so good for this trailer because in Katniss’ case Snow used this to mean her love for Peeta and I think it’s been used as a red herring for Snow’s story as it overlays a scene with Lucy Gray. It’s clear throughout the book that the thing he loves the most is himself, his sense of self importance and his quest for power. He puts this love above all other forms of love that were right in front of him for the taking. If he had truly wanted it he could’ve had a strong familial bond with Tigris, a deep brotherhood with Sejanus and romantic love with Lucy Gray, and he cast all of it aside willingly and without much of a second thought. Thinking only in terms of what those relationships could give to him, and once they are no longer useful, they can easily be forgotten. Obviously this is what leads to the destruction of not only himself but everything he holds dear. I don’t think the Ballad book is a villain origin, per se. He had every opportunity to be changed by those who loved him, to realize he had everything he needed to be happy, and he still chose violence and anger and pride. He was unforgiving in others transgressions but quick to justify his own actions of survival, and that had been with him from long before the story began. Can’t wait to see it come alive on screen!!

Awww, the part where Lucy is crying and Snow is gently wiping her tears- that warmed me inside and tugged on my heartstrings! I hope we'll see him hug her during that scene in the movie. Other than his granddaughter, we've never seen Snow show affection/gentleness to anyone.❤ Also, we see Snow himself crying towards the end of this trailer. We also see him and Tigris as children witnessing the atrocities of war. They better not make Snow seem too worthy of sympathy! That'll throw a wrench in how we view the series.😅

1 year old! I saw the movie at regal with my sister and her boyfriend on thanksgiving Good not great 8 years since the first four installments and 10 years since the second film came out and has returning director Francis Lawrence I like this tracing the beginnings of his early days in the Capitol wondering if he was a decent guy corrupted by indecent circumstances, Rachel Zegler especially her singing, Viola Davis as this generations Gamemaker, Peter Dinklage as the creator Dean Highbottom of the games themselves, and Jason Schwartzman as early host Lucretius Flickerman The creators got creative making this a period piece being vintage with old style clothing and aesthetics along with old technology using analogs and CRTVs It's a way more grittier version of the story everyone's familiar with asking what exactly the hunger games are for Much of the camera movements rely on sort of a fish eye lens perspective to make the viewer feel the intensity much like the tributes Loved recognizing certain music cues and references Hunger is a powerful weapon, secrets have a way of driving people mad, the entire world is an arena, we all do things we're not proud of to survive, people can quickly become predators The film serves as a decent prequel but the first two are still cinematic masterpieces mainly because it captured lightning in a bottle with making the YA phenomenon stand out The actual games themselves here aren't the main focus but more about the inter workings behind the scenes; all the planning, the manipulations, and the lengths people go to for boosting viewership Lots of stuff touching on poverty, classism, the divide of the rich and elite, and the manipulative tactics to entertain viewers making it marketable The romance is on the fence if never convincing, the ending is a bit frustrating because so many things are being wrapped up very fast, and the 158 minute running time could use some trimming yet it lays the groundwork for things to come while expanding the world I’ll always love those first two films so much but this fills in the gaps enough

Doctor Gaul is really how I imagined her. She is very intelligent, extravagant, calculating and above all very ruthless. She and her vision of things in the world are a little scary, since for her all human beings are an experiment. After all, thanks to her we have our favorite villain because she saw the evil in Snow and helped him develop it even more. Finally, I very much agree with your position that we human beings will always be in a constant war, since we will always have different points of view on any issue ❤️🐦🐍

The thing I love about this series is how much it sticks to the books. How a movie based on a book comes to life as written. Would love to see a story about Dr. Gaul becoming the crazy mad scientist. My answer is control/ & distraction. Keep the populace under control by distracting with these Hunger Games. Its also about how Snow evolves. This story shows the POV from the Capitol after the original uprising of the Districts.

So excited for this! I loved the book and It seems they made a real effort to do it justice. I'm sure it's going to be great, especially now knowing that Francis Lawrence is the director.

OMYGODDDD!!! Peter Dinklage did it again!!!!!! The way he said in a very Tyrion-ish style "Its a mystery and mysteries have a way of driving people mad!" Can't wait to watch the full movie.

and the penny drops - yes, like many viewers it wasn't until the last 15 minutes that I understood the character basis for the next generation. Did zone out during her return to her district as a MUSICIAN and with her serenading him, the snakes scene was epic with the singing again. All in all consistent with it's predecessors, felt like a movie.

I usually don't like book adaptations, because I already know everything that's going to happen. But with The Hunger Games, I feel like it has so much depth that the movies are able to flesh out more and bring to life.

The hanging tree song that Jennifer Larwance sang in Mocking Jay part 1 was absolutely beautiful and now hearing it in the new Hunger Games movie trailer it’s absolutely beautiful❤
