April, I bet you didn't know that you spent Christmas with me, holding my hand and showing me the way through my first 3 yard quilt! Yep, you gave me the courage to forge ahead and even was there when I miscut a block and had to patch it (since I didn't have extra material). Yes, I patched it, I can do that cause that's why they call it patchwork quilts, right? Luckily it was busy fabric so barely noticeable. Now that my Tic Tac quilt top is finished, I too am obsessed with 3 yard quilts. Where have they been all my quilting life? I have already started the Town Square and just need to add the borders and I will have another quilt top done! I don't think I have ever finished 2 quilt tops in 2 days before. I can't believe how well they went together nor how quickly! I am sure its an addiction and I don't think I need a cure until I quilt my way through my stash!! Anyhow, this is my long way of saying thank you, thank you, thank you, for making these videos as I am definitely a visual learner and needed to see how you did it! May the coming New Year bring you many blessings, as you have been a blessing to your viewers! At least this viewer for sure!

@@aprilscraftroom somewhere along the way I stopped loving quilting/sewing. I don't know whether it was from always picking difficult patterns or my having to tweak a project to suit me then losing my way, lol, but I had stopped because I was so frustrated that I wasn't enjoying sewing. I would look at the machines, the stash, and think of all the money I wasted because I wasn't sewing anymore. Well, with the help of your channel and the channels of Fabric Cafe and my sewing room, I have started loving it again! Instead of just watching videos I am sewing along with videos! I can't begin to tell you how much that means to me. I can't wait to try the Tic Tac with some of the panels I have in my stash! What a great idea you had. I love the cat panel quilt. When I get to the point of quilting my finished tops I might even get around to finally sending you photos of the leaders I made for my frame that is like yours. I loved your response! Oh, and I have 2 yorkies so we are kindred spirits, lol!

LUV the colors. I'm new at quilting but catch on fast. So with the 3 yd quilt is that 3 yds each material???? Help I want to make this , I'll be waiting for the answer Thanks 💋
@aprilscraftroom3 жыл бұрын
Great question! It is 1 yard of 3 different coordinating materials. You can make more blocks to make the quilt bigger, but the 3 yards (1 of each fabric) gives you a lap quilt and that is a great place to state. Another great thing about these quilts is that if you don't want to make more blocks - you can just keep adding borders of coordinating fabric until it is as big as you want! Let me know if you have any more questions - I will be happy to answer them. Thank you for watching. April

Love the quilt ♡♡ Question, why does my bobbin thread show through on the top? I was using white fabric on top and red on the back. So I used white thread on top and red thread in the bobbin. I can see little flakes of red on the white fabric 😒 Please help🙄
@aprilscraftroom3 жыл бұрын
I would say it is a tension issue. Pull out the book for your machine and there should be a section or chapter on tension. It will show you what to adjust when you see the bobbin thread on the top. Tension is always a struggle. I usually have the opposite issue where you can see my too thread on the back of the quilt. Just keep playing with it. You will get it set right. It just takes patience. Hi, April. Thanks for sharing. I do have a question... what is your display wall made of and would it be difficult to replicate?
@aprilscraftroom3 жыл бұрын
My display wall is the ingenious creation of my husband. Our basement is not finished, but we put up permanently temporary walls made of insulation board up so my daughter could have her room there. That wall was a full wall but I decided I needed a door to more easily navigate my craft room that has spilled into other parts of the basement. I took it over when my daughter moved out. When we were putting the 'walls' back up after he made the door opening he suggested we cover the insulation with flannel for my design wall. Fortunately Joann's was having a sale on flannel so I purchased several yards and thus my design wall was created. You can just hang a flannel sheet up on a wall and use that for your design wall ( that is what I did before). You can also cover foam core board with flannel to create a design wall. From what I understand batting works too. Thank you for watching and if you want any more info - just let me know. :-) April

I asked you recently April what your cutting mat was made out of and you told me it was plastic. I'm wondering now how your rotary cutter works on it....doesn't it your cutter leave cut marks on the mat?
@aprilscraftroom2 жыл бұрын
Yes it does. I will need to rotate it and at some point replace it. That being said if you don't cut in the same place all the time it doesn't wear out as quickly. So when you measure, cut a snip, then move the fabric and cut the rest - at an angle too to extend the life of your mat. :-) April
