Wow, didn't expect to see 18650 battery store in this space! Very cool. I order my 18650s from them. Prices with shipping are pretty good but Docan still edges them out. Always good to have options though. EDIT: Forgot that the smaller cells were 105Ah so cost per Ah is actually better on these! Thanks for the video!!

I bought cells from Amy and Hayley. Top balanced all 160 cells. Their QC ducks! Only one battery out of 10 made it past 3.5V/cell without a 280 mV imbalance or runner over 3.65V. Even my Trophy 220aH!! The one with the JK BMS 2A balance does okay. We should not have to install a 5A balancer on new "Grade A" cells. SunFunKits claims true Grade A. I will try 18650 store.

I bought 16 of the 280Ah batteries the day after you published this video. These makeup my third bank of 280 eve cell's. Thanks for sharing very good information. What determines the maximum discharge is it only the cells, the BMS or both I am planning to build a 24v 304AH battery. What should the maximum charge and discharge rate be?
@LithiumSolar
@LithiumSolar 11 күн бұрын
The maximum discharge would be the lower number between battery rating and BMS. If the battery is rated for 100A but you use a 50A BMS, then your max discharge is 50A. If the battery is rated for 50A and you use a 100A BMS, then the max discharge is 50A (and hopefully you configured that BMS to cut at 50A as well).

I priced a build for a 100 amp 48V battery, and with a quality BMS and case and cb, it was about $1,450. The Jackiper is $1,699, the EG4 is $1,499. Your shipping cost may vary, but seems like there is not the big incentive to build a 100ah 48v battery anymore. Building a 280ah 48v saves more.
@fauxque5057
@fauxque5057 2 жыл бұрын
Free shipping helps but the price is still too close to already built options in my opinion. I think the last set of 4 chins 105ah batteries cost me $1290. to my door. I have 2 sets of 4 chins, and 2 sets of 4 of the zooms batteries. Always bought 4 at a time and never broke the $1400. mark. With the exception of an over priced Hsky 48v battery I bought from Big Battery. They were the only place that had anything available at the time when I needed it. I would have loved to go the server rack route but they were always out of stock and on backorder.

I bought 4 cells from Docan and two of those were heavily bulged even when fully discharged. Capacity is also < 280ah for all cells.

Hi, thank you for all the videos you do. I have 32 x Eve 280ah cells on the ship to me. I am wanting a good bms. I have Victron multipus 5000. so fully loaded i am needing close to 200amps discharge. I also have 24solar x 330w panels on my roof, running through 4x victron 150/85 mppts to charge my 12x 2v @ 1250ah gel batteries. I believe the LF280k has a1c charge rate. Is there a bms that can handle 250amp charge? I am considering charging the new lifepo4s from 18 panels and 3 mppt, each supplying around 80amps in good conditions, therefore 240amps. I used Daly 200amp in my bus build, but that is only charging at 40amps though house power supply. I need heavy duty for my off grid shed but can't be sure which bms to choose for high charge solar. What's your thoughts?

The double terminal is interesting. I have never seen that before. On the main pack pos/neg you have the main leads and balance leads on separate terminals. If i wanted to run 2 main lead cables, one on each stud, is there room on the stud for the balance lead and a main power lead?

Yes, there is plenty of room for multiple cables under one bolt. Even if there wasn't, you could just get a longer M6 stud.

I'm considering a purchase to buy one of the battery genny's out there, most likely, just a mid-level one making 1800watts. I noticed most offer a similar looking unit as a secondary battery but they're pretty pricey. Has anyone built their own using these batteries to piggyback off the store bought battery genny's out there?!?!? Successful???

Hi...if using 6kw high frequency battery charger,with rema320 connector with CAN bus protocol..is that any bms come with can bus connection? Or any can module that can coordinate with bms and the charges

Unless the BMS manufacturer follows a standard, you might wanna check to see what modules they have to support CAN Bus.

These look intriguing, and would be a great science project for my 10 and 11 year old boys. We already built a mini solar generator using 28 ah lifepo4's 2 in parallel. Being retired makes the cost point sweet as well. I get the putting the 4 cells together and the bms and even the balancer. What I don't get is how to put these cells into a working form as a common battery -- or what this 60 plus year old knows what these batteries could resemble. Any help would be appreciated.

@@kingsamoanOG Thank you so much. This uses the anderson sb175 quick plug in for connection rather than the positive and negative poles you screw a bolt into to make connection to the battery. Is there a way to bypass the anderson 175 and have just 2 poles like a car battery? Wish I could post a picture, hundreds of batteries like the normal 100 ah lifepo4's that demonstrate what I am speaking about rather than the anderson 175 connection. Thanks for assisting.

@@Guardianwill I would imagine anderson or some other company would make an adapter it probably won't be your typical poles but I'm sure they have some sort of +/- adapter with just leads coming off. I'm not familiar with anderson but other companies make these adapter with just wire +/- leads coming off the plug

Excellent video, very informative. As for the 280 ah batteries, could you please, explain to me how to connect 8 of these batteries to make 12v 560 ah battery bank? Would I need 2 BMS's? Thanks in advance.
@kingsamoanOG
@kingsamoanOG 2 жыл бұрын
So 4 of these batteries cells would create you a 12v battery pack thats why they sell them in 4s because they are 280ah 3.2v each when connecting all 4 it creates your 280 ah (3.2vx4=12.8v battery pack) so if you bought 8 you would be able to create 2 battery packs so you'd have 2 280ah 12v battery packs and depending how you run them in parallel or series you could have a 24v 280ah battery setup or keep in 12v depending on what type of inverter you are running and id run a bms for each battery pack you create. Hope that helps a little im still learning all this myself Goodluck brotha

Curious, at 7:47 into the timeline, while testing the 280Ah cells, the display shows 74.2Amps of current. The voltage is at 12.79 so 3.19v per cell, or at least worst performing cell in the group. This is below 3.3v Seems an automotive grade cell under such load conditions wouldn't fall in voltage like this? Look at this test by SDK on a 280Ah Automotive grade cell. Watch the voltage and the current: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gXWQkqlqmLl_Y7M

Voltage is being measured after the BMS in this video, so there would be some voltage drop across the BMS and negative lead. Additionally, this is not a precisely-calibrated instrument as shown in the video you linked to.

They went up in price and only a 1 year warranty? You just posted this 4 weeks ago. I have seen some give 10 year warranty for defects or product fail if not abuse or misuse or normal wear, basically about the same time as the number of cycles. Battle Born American company is one of them, though quite pricy. I know you are not the one that has anything to do with that but in a way you are advertising their product.
@LithiumSolar
@LithiumSolar 2 жыл бұрын
18650 Battery Store is not manufacturing this products. They're a distributor. It doesn't make sense for them to provide the warranty on the product. The 1 year warranty is plenty sufficient in my opinion. Battle Born is a manufacturer for which the cells they use are a component of the product they create. It makes sense for them to warranty their product for longer. Additionally, 18650 Battery Store warned me ahead of time that they were considering a price increase due to the ever-rising cost of everything.

Something is not adding up here... 3509 Watthours / 282.40 = 12.425 Nominal volts or 3.106 v/cell. Nominal voltage for LFP is 3.2 volts. So it should be 3509 / 12.8 = 274.14 AH / cell. It should have tested to 3584 watts / 12.8 = 280 AH / cell. I think you took the out going amps as the capacity instead of calculating capacity based on the watt hour which is to divide total watt hours / nominal voltage.
