Arizona heat is like opening an oven and feeling the heat vs Midwest/SouthEast heat throwing a bucket of boiling water on you. I'll take the oven heat any day.

@Isaac Aragon No its more like a SAUNA. Its good for your skin. You'll sweat in dry heat too it just wont be as fast. You wont be dripping within 10 minutes.

Phoenix is a great place to raise a family I have been here since may 1971. I was a Phoenix Police officer for 28 years. My kids graduated from ASU. I recomend Phoenix, it is hot in the summer but air conditioning is everywhere. Fall, winter and Spring are great.

I moved to the East Valley (Tempe) from Texas 19 years ago and I haven't yet met anyone that's had "Valley Fever"..You forgot to mention that the state of Arizona (except for the Navajo reservation) does not observe daylight savings time..That's why the sun goes down earlier..DUH !! Also worth mentioning..the cool, sunny and beautiful winters in AZ make up for the blistering hot summers..in my opinion..

Ty ty ty ty for providing these honest personal observations of the area. It's so hard to gauge a new place based on ppl who've had a bad or good experience. They seem to focus on one or the other. If I'm going to live somewhere, I need to know both. Valley Fever has been a concern of mine based on an actual case I read about. I have better info now. So again ty. Btw your baby is adorable. ❤

I lived in Tempe from 1990-1992, just east of the ASU campus. I loved going to grad school there even though I was dirt poor. I loved bars like the Dash Inn, and the Chuck Box burger place. The Summer heat was tough to adjust to, but dry heat beats humid Florida any day. I never turned on my heat in two years, but I ran my AC 24/7 for 9 months of the year in my all utility paid apartment on Lemon Street. I loved the beautiful sunsets, driving to visit Tucson, Sedona, Flagstaff and the Grand Canyon. Definitely one of my five favorite states. I live in Colorado but will be visiting AZ again soon for Cactus League baseball.

Lived in Florida moved to AZ, going back to FL. AZ is not all that crack out to be. Is getting very busy at a lightning speed. A lot criminality that people don't talk about. If you love the ocean you will miss it everyday. Hiking a mountain is not that great, the Ocean is the real deal when it come to really relax. Taxes are actually really high. Specially sales taxes. It is a beautiful state. But it will wear out . Unless you live in the North of Arizona where the weather is a bit milder than the central and South. If you suffer from Allergies enjoy the outdoors is going to be hard because of the particles that are constant in the air. An eye on the weather before you step out the door mandatory, so you can protect yourself. Good luck!

Hey! Planning to move to Mesa or Glendale (still thinking) in May from Florida and I fell upon your channel! Some similarities from where I live. Which areas of Phoenix would be best for a married couple without kids (younger 30s)?
@LivinOurDreamz
@LivinOurDreamz 5 жыл бұрын
Mesa over Glendale. However, looking at places with the highest rate of residents ages 22 - 34, I would suggest Gilbert, Chandler, Peoria, Scottsdale, Tempe, and Cave Creek. Tempe is the highest for the age range followed by Chandler. Note that certain parts of Tempe have a higher crime rate than the others on the list, so make sure to do a zip code search on crime wherever you move. Not sure how old these statistics are though.

Thanks for your very informative videos. I was wondering if you would be able to answer a question. We a will be traveling to Arizona in July to look at neighborhoods. We’re thinking about Gilbert or Chandler. We have also looked at San Tan Valley and Florence but the high schools rank at 6 as opposed to 8 or 9 in Gilbert. The homes are beautiful but don’t want to risk moving there if the schools are not really good. In your opinion , what would be an ideal neighborhood with great schools and homes priced between 250,000- 300,000? We will be moving in June of next year.
@LivinOurDreamz
@LivinOurDreamz 6 жыл бұрын
I think Gilbert / Chandler is your best bet for schooling out of the areas you mentioned. In my opinion, San Tan Valley just doesn’t cut it with the school ratings for families with children. I can say that both South Chandler and South Gilbert offer good schools. I would go to somewhere like Greatschools.org, find the school system you are interested in and look at the school map. They will show you the ratings of the schools in specific neighborhoods and then you can check out the housing prices in those higher rated school zones.

great video!!!!! what areas are a good place to move to? i heard goodyr and Glendale, but not sure. i want to be away from as many bugs as possible.
@LivinOurDreamz
@LivinOurDreamz 6 жыл бұрын
It's really hard to narrow down the best places to live. It all depends on your needs and budget. Chandler, Gilbert and Scottsdale are great family friendly areas with many good schools, but the houses are more expensive. Buckeye is more affordable and safe, but it's in the West Valley, and for some that would be a commute if working in the Southeast Valley. Glendale is also more affordable, but I'm not sure how good the schools are and I believe the crime rates may be higher. You just have to do your research. You can't necessarily get away from the scorpions and bugs completely, but as I said in the video, don't live too close to mountains or lakes. Thanks for watching!
@billsmith6195

Don't move to South Phx or most of Mesa. Stay north, east or west Phx. Don't move to south Scottsdale. Just because people say they live in "snobbsville, scottsdale" doesn't always mean they have money. South is a bad area. West (suprise, peoria, glendale, even some on sun city (but watch out for old farts on golf carts who think they own the world) are best areas.

Love ur vids, just stumbled upon them....im retiring from the army in 4 yrs and will be moving to AZ, im orig from CT....i always visit scottsdale and was settled on retiring their, but realistically its prob not a smart move because its so richy/pricey so im considering chandler...but never been there. Im looking for a place/city that has alot of restaurants franchises shopping, retail stuff....is chandler better than gilbert????
@LivinOurDreamz
@LivinOurDreamz 6 жыл бұрын
Chandler and Gilbert are very similar. I don’t think one has vast advantages over the other. Chandler does have a less nice area near downtown that Gilbert doesn’t seem to have. Gilbert housing seems to run a little more. But both have lots of shopping / eating options, both have really nice areas to live, etc. In my opinion there isn’t a whole lot of difference.

I'm a native of Arizona and I'm 58 years oldand valley fever most people already had it just passed it off as a mild cold or something like that because like like you said it's a fungus that lives up in the upper inches of our soil and sense at times our soil is airborne you breathe it in but like you say your kids are probably ready had it and just passed it off as a cold or something

I'm visiting AZ in December and will check both out ... love Mexican cuisine. What is your opinion on the electric bill for a 2 Bedroom apartment or smaller 3 Bedroom house for 1-2 people? I'm super nervous about the electric bill. I was told that it will average out just moving to Cali because even though Cali rent is high ... it'll average out with the astronomical electric bills in AZ. What's your thoughts?

Hi , very informative video. Great job !! Just want to ask one question. We are thinking to move Phoenix from Long Island , NY. especially for my son as he suffers during winter ( so many ear infections ) . Do you think we can deal with the heat ?
@LivinOurDreamz
@LivinOurDreamz 6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment. I really can't answer that for you as it's really a personal preference. There are some people (like myself) who are not bothered by extreme heat. I still go about my day and continue to walk and bike ride, etc. I just do things really early in the morning or late in the evening when it's cooler. For some people the heat is really hard for them and they just have a rough time. I figure if you don't like the Summer heat, you could stay indoors as much as possible like you would in the winter. It does get hot, but some handle it better than others.

Amit, you sound like you are of Indian descent. If you have gone to India, you will be able to relate to the climate in AZ. India's heat is dry heat and can get up to 120 degrees, if you are closer to the equator.

Great tips. For the new people APS or SRP power. SRP is cheaper and far superior. Keep that in mind and ask your realtor. Otherwise, enjoy

@LivinOurDreamz

You can get Valley fever anytime of the year, but it's more likely during monsoon season (June thru September) because we are getting those Dust Storms and people are more exposed to it being in the air. I will make a video on Valley Fever in the future and talk more about it.

The 10 acre lot for more than a mil....is intended for either commercial, or multi house development. you can check out www.landwatch.com to look for land in Maricopa County. Some are expensive, some are not. It depends on location, and size of lot. A lot in Cave Creek or Scottsdale will be far more expensive than in Gilbert, or other areas that are a little further out and less developed.

First of all - thank you for your Vlogs ... great info for someone like me who isn't well traveled. The $64,000 question of the day is the electric bill. I'm so worried about this if I move there. What do you think (just an opinion) my average monthly electric bill will be for a normal sized 2 bedroom apartment or small, simple 3 bedroom house for 1-2 people? Someone told me that I'll come out the same financially in Cali because even though Cali's rents are higher ... I'd pay way less in electric. I respect and need your thoughts on both questions. Keep the great info coming ... it's needed by many I'm sure.
@LivinOurDreamz
@LivinOurDreamz 6 жыл бұрын
It shouldn’t go over $300 dollars a month. My June electric bill for a 5 bedroom house was about $280. For May it was $194.00. Now I tend to keep my air a little higher so if you like it cooler, of course your bill would be higher. June, July and August typically are the highest bills and of course during the winter the temps go down and so will your bill. Here’s a use estimator from SRP (the electric company here) to help you estimate your costs: www.srpnet.com/prices/home/calculator.aspx

I plan on moving to downtown in a condo type apartment so would valley fever be as bad and what about commuting by bus?
@LivinOurDreamz
@LivinOurDreamz 6 жыл бұрын
Yes you can commute by bus. Check out valleymetro.org for bus routes to see how it fits where you need to go. Valley Fever is a general risk of living in the desert, but it is mainly an issue when dust / soil kicks up. So if you are outside in a dust storm, your risk is higher no matter where you live. It also is more risky if you have a job in say construction where the soil is disturbed a lot or you do a lot of activities like dirt biking that would put you in a dusty environment.

I have been here in Arizona on desert floor since 1978. I had valley fever several years. Mine was a upper respertory cough , a very small effect , in No Way shape or form serious. Just a on going situation that took quiet some time for it to go away. I was Never concerned or worried. Many people that move here from some where else will have valley fever and not even know it. Valley fever is a common situation here. If you are looking for the perfect place to move to on this planet , There Isn't Any. ------ As for the heat here on the desert floor , Starting the second week of June it will be Hot Day and Night until the last part of October. The rest of the year is Perfect Weather every day and every night. No snow or ice here on the desert floor. ------ However no requirement to live on the desert floor. Prescott and the Prescott area has 4 Mild Seasons. And also there are many places to live in Arizona. Tucson Arizona is over all 10 degrees cooler then the Phoenix metro.

I am thinking of moving to Phoenix area It calls to my heart. I have visited Sedona and Flagstaff, and only had a few lay overs in Phoenix. Everytime I have been there, it felt like home. I was thinking Tempe area. How is the housing market for renters?
@LivinOurDreamz
@LivinOurDreamz 6 жыл бұрын
There should a variety of options available for renters (though I’m not an expert or heavily involved in the real estate arena). It is a college town so you will find renting opportunities for sure. It just depends on what you’re looking for (houses, apartments, townhomes) etc. I would check the online sites to see what specifically is available.
