See this. This is an ideal breakup song. Not angry, not over dramatic. Just bittersweet, especially with the last line: “It’s breaking me that he isn’t mine / But at least he’s doing just fine / without me.” You don’t break up for no reason. You break up so that both of you can be happier (though it stings at first), and I think that this song really conveys that feeling.

Agree that this song is wonderful. Sad, but sweet. Disagree that all breakups are mutual, and done for good reasons. Give it time, a partner that you adore with drop you without warning, like garbage, with no explanation or closure... And then you'll see how wrong that part of your comment is.

Funnily enough, my girlfriend and I just broke up after about 2 years, 4 months, and 27 days together - 880 days of sheer bliss with the love of my life; bliss with her and her beautiful face, body, hair, eyes, lips, personality... She was and still is, to me, in every way perfect - my first, my one and only. It ended because she told me she was gay, and, of course, I knew we couldn't carry on. But all is well because we were both best friends before, and we will continue to be best friends here on out, taking care of each other for the rest of our days if need be, giving each other our unconditional love and support - that is a promise. I'd just like to thank you, Dodie, for giving me something to listen to to make the experience a bit easier; keep up the great work and stay awesome, my friend. :) And if by some slight chance you might be reading this too, my love, then thank you for everything too - I truly mean it. You have given me so many things over the years, including a reason to live (that reason being you), that I could never repay you for it all. But I wouldn't have changed a thing about it, about us, for the world. Thank you so much, really; you are, and always will be, the best. Just ended it with my boyfriend who've I've been with since 16 (am now nearly 19). I miss him so much but I know it's for the best. Just hurts so much to know we can't ever be together in the same way again, I really cherished that relationship. Feel sick to my core and can't sleep.

Here are the guitar chords that I was able to figure out if anyone's curious: if youre playing on a normal guitar, just Capo on the 5th fret to match pitch. Verses go C, Em, F, C, E7, A7, D7, G.... the breakdown-ey prechorus-ey chords are Am, Am7(I think), A7 and D7. At the end of the first verse/chorus progression, at the, "and I hear he's doing just fine" shes playing an F and sliding it up a whole step to the relative note, which is a variation of a G. After the next versey part she'll do the Am breakdown over "Oh I'd never wish this feeling, on anyone but see" and then plays a C to a G over "Well I hear he's doing just fine" then back to the Am breakdown on "Perhaps the problem lies..." The big punch to the gut, "I ripped myself apart and you just stood there" is a G# bar chord down to a G... If you can figure out the mangled explanation of what I've tried to explain here, you can figure out the exact placement of the chords and where they go by listening to the song a few more times! Hope this helps! Thank you for another beautiful song Dodie!

That A7 in the verses should be an Am (or Am7 I can't tell). And that Am7 you put in the pre-chorus should be an C+ (it can also be thought of as an Am(maj7) since she's playing on a guitar and is probably still playing the open A natural below everything. The main idea is just that the A is descending chromatically to a G.) Nice work with the rest of the song though!

not gonna lie, this sounds like a 6 string ukulele... those DO exist, the pitch is higher than a guitar without a capo. The chords look interesting... awaiting for someone to comment them, I can’t figure it out.

Emily Dominguez if you count the strings, there is 6
@nikkiiwithani4 жыл бұрын
@@laceythecorgi is it a guitarlele? Cuz that would make sense that it sounds higher than a guitar because a guitarlele = a guitar capoed on the fifth fret
