My second service dog Mimi (recently retired, now a pet) was surrendered for destructiveness, aka boredom, she needed a job and was willing to learn. I first worked on basic obedience and then added commands I would need for mobility; the funny thing is dogs will learn from your reactions and mannerisms. I recently started training on Fritz a year ago, he's doing really good. he's very ball/food motivated when learning. As someone who has a medical alert service dog n a anxiety issue you can learn to be better. At 55 I am still learning. I live in Pennsylvania and I do have my dog ID'ed I know it's not necessary but in the long run it saves me a hassle. Considering I have been involved with the service dogs program since I was a little child due to my dad having a service dogs for the deaf, n my uncle being a service dog trainer. Please keep your cool, it takes practice . In Pennsylvania my dog has been tested. By a professional certified service dog program. Also, any testing/program u have contact with or "tested" ur dog, isn't really "certified" in the sense that the government has accredited them or certified them to test dogs to title them in some way...whether it be service dog title or just being a behaved dog... none of that is accredited, certified, or otherwise by the government in anyway.

I don't understand why owners, managers, etc. are not aware that there is no paperwork for service animals. There is 2 verbal questions and that is it. You can not deny someone due to their service (THAT's SERVICE NOT ESA) animal. Honestly there needs to be some sort of formal training for all business owners and managers put on by either the NDC, NSBA, or the Multi-National Corporations themselves to make sure they know the laws and are staying in compliance with the ADA on service animals. Most of these business owners aren't purposely trying to break the law they just aren't aware, and until an actual person of the law tells them they won't believe what another person says bc unfortunately most of society is untrusting due to the high amount of scammers out there. So while I understand this particular owners/managers initial dilemma that is still no excuse for not knowing the laws, and you should not only comp these guests for their stay, but also be mandated through ADA compliance training. I hope I've made clear through this that although I understand where the owner/manager is coming from that in no way shape or form do I agree or accept their actions and think justly appropriate punitive measures should be taken.

. This is late but I highly suggest doing better research. Try the ADA which is federal law service dogs and Esa are two different things. Th e ADA ststes: Service animals are defined as dogs that are individually trained to do work or perform tasks for people with disabilities. Examples of such work or tasks include guiding people who are blind, alerting people who are deaf, pulling a wheelchair, alerting and protecting a person who is having a seizure, reminding a person with mental illness to take prescribed medications, calming a person with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) during an anxiety attack, or performing other duties. Service animals are working animals, not pets. The work or task a dog has been trained to provide must be directly related to the person’s disability. Dogs whose sole function is to provide comfort or emotional support do not qualify as service animals under the ADA. This definition does not affect or limit the broader definition of “assistance animal” under the Fair Housing Act or the broader definition of “service animal” under the Air Carrier Access Act. Service Dogs go through hours to years of training topreform the tasks needed to aide their owners. Emotional support are comfort companions nothing more they ate not task trained nor are they granted the same rights as service dogs per example. Seevice dogs have public access anywhere. Emotional support dog are only allowed at home abd pet free areas.

@soulcompanionk9s5734 жыл бұрын
There is no such thing as a "certified" service dog. As long as they are trained to help their handler with a disability, they are a service dog.
@ashenrose22624 жыл бұрын
Thats not actually a thing. Theres specific types of medical trainings dogs can do but they dont get certification. You arent even required to have someone else train the dog. All you need is an animal trained to assist with a disability.
