How to determine if you have one or the other? Who to see? Dentist or ENT? I have a history of popping jaw but I recently had an ear infection and treated with antibiotics taken by ear drops for about two months but the popping has slowed and now I have bone scraping and grinding in my jaw/ear area! Very painful now opening and have had it locked open on me a time or two.

Hi Dr. Mistry. Have you watched KZbin "TMJ Treatment Part 1 of 4 - Dental Minute with Steven T. Cutbirth, DDS"? It is a 4 part series. He has been treating TMJD for decades. I'm sure you would appreciate his knowledge. Your TMJD videos are great!!!

I have been diagnosed with trigeminal neuralgia and migraines. I also have had for many years a feeling of locked jaw or jaw feeling like it is out of joint along with a clicking sound when I eat. I also tend to grind my teeth at night. My question is, would either of these conditions you outlined contribute to my trigeminal neuralgia or are they something completely separate?

It is a little confusing to distinguish which I had. A few months ago I woke up one morning and couldn't open my mouth. I pretty much opened it with a little force and felt popping and clicking that lasted about 2-3 weeks. There was not a lot of pain, just tension and it was annoying while eating. I did not have any spasms from this and did not really have a history of clenching or grinding before this episode. At least I didn't think I did. I noticed my clenching began after the lockjaw incident and noticed my bite shifted from it. I had bite sensitivity as well. I have been wearing a night guard for about 5 months now. I can feel my TMJ slide on the side that I think is not aligned. But not when I chew or bite anymore. Just when I place my finger on it. No pain. How do you get to the root of what caused the disorder? I'm not sure what the right treatment is to correct my bite after most of the TMD symptoms are gone.

It's hard to differentiate between the two! I'd recommend seeing a skilled and experienced TMJ Dentist to help you determine the cause.

So you mean a patient that has been clicking for years and just now experienced a disc displacement without reduction, can catch the disc again and function without disc displacement anymore??

Mam I have tmj anterior disc displacement without reduction as mri reported on both joints. I have clicking and poping sounds for several months but two days ago when I woke up in the morning I found that I couldn't open my mouth more wider than two fingers. My left jaw had locked. Although it had happened with me several times before also, but every time it usually opened itself. When I went to a dentist he advised me arthrocentesis which was very painful. But my jaw suddenly got unlocked after the procedure And next day when I woke up it again got locked. Then the doctor advised arthrocentesis one more time and after that it unlocked again. And now I can open my mouth up to 4 fingers but there is a clicking and poping sound in the jaw. And it also clicks when I try to touch my molar teeth together. And I also feel some pain on touching the molar teeth together. But I don't feel any pain on opening the mouth. Can this exercise help me? And my doctor was telling that if arthrocentesis would not help you then we will have to perform a surgery called arthroscopy. But I can't go for surgery because I recently had an ear surgery two months ago. So please mam tell me what are thealternative treatments for whom should I go for? Please 🙏 mam reply.

My cartilage is all the way forward and I can’t open past 25mm and my doctor is wanting to unlock my jaw by injecting water into the joint to open it more and manipulating my jaw so the cartilage moves back into place - is this a procedure you’ve heard of? Can you make a video?

What is it call when your jaw gets stuck open and you can’t close your mouth?

It depends - is it stuck open at your maximum opening? Or only partly open?

My jaw is locked where I can’t close my mouth. I can open kind of wide but I can’t close it. I’m pregnant and have had TMJ flare up recently. I had a lot of clicking and popping/so painful. Is this jaw locked closed?

Dr. Pryia can you please make a video about tongue tentacles that are called by pliva fimbirata of causes, effects and ways of cure and removal surgeries, I have two extended tentacles from each left and right underneath my tongue on the blue blood vessels. Ive heard that they are normal tissues that are not well absorbed by the body during growth and development but I really need a way to cure this because its very hard to just accept it. Ive tried salt water, rensiden mouthwash, dentist surgery to remove dental tartar but it didn't improve any better. Can you help me please and thank you very much 🫶🏼🙏

I don't know anything about "tongue tentacles" and have no practical experience with them so I really don't feel comfortable making a video about them.
