MusicTechHelpGuy I can't begin to express my appreciation for your taking the time to make these videos. They are excellent. I'm an intermediate user, which is a nice way of saying I really don't use my DAW to its full potential. These videos are extremely enlightening, man. Good man. Please don't stop.

Hey MusicTechHelpGuy you really gave me some good stuff to look about in Logic, but the prize goes to the Epic Band you got there. Just now I bought the whole ITunes Album, 'cause you guys are frankly awesome. I don't know how much time you've been playing, but that's an epic refreshing album. I'm really interested on what's going on with the project, and hope to listen to the second and third and fourth and collection albums in the future. Great Tutorial, but of course Amazing Band!

hi, thanx these tutorials, im coming from cubase where playhead follows snap settings and in logic it doesn't so when i click and try to position the playhead to the bar it looks like it is there and i zoom in and it is very close usually but not in the line (weird anyway why logic guys think i want to position there instead of the set snap value not so "logic"), so that makes me crazy and when i paste something from the playhead it is matters if it is not exactly there so is there a way the playhead snap also to the set values, or i have to use different ways?

Thank you for teaching me! Please, anyone, I really need help!! How do you do the following... 1. In the Editor Window, I do see the grid lines, but I do NOT see the grid lines underneath each Audio region. Of course, when I click on the big scissor icon on the upper left corner, I do see the grid lines faintly under the audio region via pop up window. I prefer to edit drums (12 audio tracks) and vocals via "Transparent Audio Grid" (I know pro tools and studio one has this feature) . Any suggestions? Is this possible in logic? 2. I want to record 3 separate guitar audio tracks at say from bar 10 to bar 14. I use the marquee + tool and point and click on the Region to bar 10. I press "R" RECORD and it records in another bar/area. Why? Of course, when I use marquee + to PLAY anywhere on the region, it will play where I want it. I wish it did the same for recording. Any suggestions? When I press the Record button, it records where ever the is located . Very frustrating. I hate to always use the at the very top every time starting at bar 10. Finally, I set the at bar 10, hit record and it works great. Now I want to double it, arm the next audio guitar track and it does NOT go back to bar 10 to record. It just continues where I was left off. Again frustrating. Any help or tricks will be much appreciated. Anyone available to teach me via zoom or google meet? Thanks again! I am very grateful!

I know we're not at mixing stage yet but I saw the comment about mixing analog vs. in the box. Is it hopeless to believe you can mix a pro album in the box even with top plugins and years of experience? In other words, are we wasting our time if our goal is to mix and possibly even master our own albums in the box? I know mastering is probably reaching for sure but I always set my aspirations pretty high. Thanks in advance!
@MusicTechHelpGuy
@MusicTechHelpGuy 10 жыл бұрын
Just because someone has great analog outboard gear doesn't necessarily mean that they'll make a great album with it. You CAN make a great album without it. Your ears are your best tool. If you are experienced and have good plug-ins, and know how to use them properly, it's totally possible. When I can, I like to use as much outboard gear as possible, but there are definitely times where the artist is on a budget and can only afford a plug-in mix. I typically use a combination of both plug-ins and analog gear. There is also a lot of great outboard compression out there for under 1k a piece. One particular example that I own two of is the Art Pro VLA II compressor. I love these units for vocal compression, and they're only 400 a piece. Each unit has 2 channels. I'll eventually do a video on using outboard processing in Logic. The other thing is "mixing in analog" is a pretty rare… and by that I mean mixing COMPLETELY in analog. That is very rare by today's standards. I've mixed on SSL consoles and great outboard gear, but I'm still using some plug-ins and a DAW, not tape.
@WorldITCB
@WorldITCB 10 жыл бұрын
Thanks for taking the time out to respond with this well-explained lengthy response. I agree 100%. I am currently trying to "master" the few essential plugins I have from UA (using the Apollo Twin Duo interface). I got the Manley Massive Passive, 1176 Classic Limiter Collection, and EMT 140 Reverb, along with the Ampex Tape Sim. With Reason 7, Logic X's native plugins, time, and knowledge (such as your skills and tutorials), I believe I can get some very high quality productions done. It really is, IMO, about learning your "gear" equipment or program. Many get caught up in the latest gear, latest plugins, latest programs, and never actually get comfortable and well-versed on what they currently have. Anyway thanks again! Great work! Truly appreciate all that you have put into these tutorials! Awesome musical skills too!
